Our son was at Creative Child Preschool from ages 2-5. We could not be happier with this school, teachers and program. Each day he was nurtured and challenged in appropriate ways. He is now prepared for kindergarten both academically and socially. A few things that we like about the school are the play-based curriculum, smaller size of the classes, the sweet yard space, the nurturing teachers and how they handle conflict resolution, and that snacks and lunch are provided. We were looking for part-time care and Creative Child was able to accommodate my work schedule that often changed each season. We were searching for a new school after the Eaton fire and toured this school highly recommended by one of our neighbors who really enjoyed the experience here. On the day of our tour Ms Michelle already showed great patience answering my millions of questions. My daughter started going to school at two, and we have attended a much more academic based private school so I was really looking for a school that is play based but the kids can also learn something. Creative Child is really strong at 1. The teachers are truly caring and kind to the kids, especially Ms Michelle. My daughter was in her class and I was always impressed by how professional and experienced she is with the kids. I felt like she sets a better example for my child than myself. She always has a calm and neutral attitude towards every situation. She has great humor but also taught the kids how to be independent and respectful to each other. She's kind and firm- perfect balance. 2. All the kids are super sweet and loving, it truly is like a family. All the kids develop great bonding and friendship. They give each other hugs all the time. On the first day of my daughter starting, all the kids were saying hi and bye and giving her a hug. She felt welcome there. I think this comes from both the family and the school encouraging. 3. Small class and teachers really paying attention to kids behavior and conversation. The teachers are always on top, every time I picked up I saw the teachers always paying attention to what the kids are doing. My daughter would always come home telling me what Ms Michelle or the teachers said to the kids to correct certain behaviors which means they really are doing a great job. We did a lot of research when trying to find a preschool, but as soon as we visited CCP, we knew it was the right choice for our daughter. The school is adorable and has tons of fun spaces for the kids to learn while playing, the teachers are caring and kind, and all the kids seem so happy and friendly and comfortable. My daughter started at CCP when she was 2.5 years old. Her teachers were Ms. Linda and Ms. Candice. I was really nervous about sending her to school because she was a pandemic baby with little social interaction. I was worried that she wouldn't nap or eat the food provided because she's very very picky. She eventually started napping there and actually preferred their morning snacks over the breakfast at home. I really liked that there was a lot of communication with the teachers through the himama app. I was able to talk to the teachers frequently at drop off and pick up. They always addressed any concerns I had and definitely made me feel assured that my daughter was in good hands. When she turned 3, she moved up to the dragonfly class with Ms. Vanessa and Ms. Amie. I've always heard great things about them from my friend whose daughter was also in that class. Sure enough, they were amazing. Communication was always very difficult for my daughter but slowly Ms. Amie and Ms. Vanessa got her to express her feelings and talk about what's bothering her instead of crying and refusing to talk. Ms. Amie relocated so Ms. Abigail started about halfway through the year and she's great as well! Can't forget about Ms. Michelle, the director. I am so grateful for her. My son was newly diagnosed with Autism and I really needed to get him exposed to some type of school before starting TK. Ms. Michelle worked with us on getting my son in to CCP with his aide. Being a mom of a special needs child, I am always skeptical about everything. But I was able to put my trust in CCP and my son did great! TLDR: Look no further - ENROLL NOW! YES, you should enroll to save a spot ASAP for great schools. Some parents enroll as soon as they conceive. This is a small school. Best wishes to you finding a school! It has caused me great anxiety because my child will not return next year because my commute is unbearable. It pains me to transfer my child to a new school after he made such great friends along the way. I plan to keep in touch with a few families through external extracurricular classes (swim, soccer, etc.). After looking at over a dozen schools in SGV and my year at Creative Child, here is my review of the school: Accreditation and Reviews: Creative Child Preschool is accredited. They have great reviews on Yelp as well as by word of mouth. A few parents I met have friends who teach at other preschools and recommended Creative Child even though there are no affiliations. Safety: Obvious safety violations are taken care of by the accreditation process. However, my child's first year in preschool as a 2-year-old during the beginning of Covid (pre-vaccine days) amplified the need for safety. Yes, like any other accredited school, this school follows national guidelines for Covid safety. However, there are only 8 total students and 2 adult staff members for the 2-year-old class. The entire school population is smaller than many other privately owned daycare facilities (not considering family-owned daycares at a residential home). This school is also in Arcadia (the other school is in Temple City). I am not an Arcadia native but even with the number of parents who drop off their kids from surrounding neighborhoods, many of the families have stay at home parents or work from home parents who are all in the same mind of being fully vaccinated, masking, and other Covid safety precautions. Even if the threat of Covid is subsiding (fingers crossed), the knowledge of the small class brings reduces my worries as my child is less likely exposed to hand-foot mouth, lice, flu, and other bacteria or viruses. I am lucky to say our family never caught Covid and have only had the cold/flu twice this year. This is significant for any family for the first year of school! Environment: The school is on a residential street and looks like a home! There is a horseshoe driveway to increase the safety of pickups/drop-offs. The nicer neighborhood potentially means it is safer. The gate, outdoor play area, and the classrooms are decorated with the "creative child" in mind. Everything is bright, colorful, cozy, organized, and clean. The paint on the walls and building looks new. The toys and furniture look clean and sturdy. Not only does the learning environment promote safe learning, but also engage children in play and cleaning up after themselves and other habits (as well as habits of mind). Communication: The Himama app is a great source for communication. I also read the school policy and Covid addendum. Everything was very clear. The photos and videos uploaded on the app were a treat and can be downloaded! It made it very easy to look at reports for feeding (snacks/lunch), alerts as well as ouchie reports or if the child is feeling sick. Cost: At only a couple hundred more than the average cost of a daycare in Boyle Heights and East LA. But here you pay for individualized care with balanced meals, plentiful art projects for student development, detailed "progress reports" for meeting developmental stages and ORGANIC MILK!?!? Sign me up! Child Growth / Education: I love the weekly themes student study. The curriculum has been thoroughly planned with a weekly course schedule posted. You also have ample time to sign up for additional classes such as gym, dance, summer events and other activities at an additional yet reasonable cost. Honestly, my simplified goal is to ensure my child's safety and happiness, but I got more than when I believe I paid. I know my child learned new things each day! (*The images show Splash Day - a free event for the children because it was warm as well as Pony Rides which were only $10 and I got great photos from all the events!) Staffing: Turn over/attrition: For the year, only one change was made in the entire school when one of the teachers went on maternity leave. While the world and all the various industries are having a hard time keeping their staff together, the owner and director seems keep their employees happy. This is great news for children here. I wish I did a better job showing my appreciation during teacher appreciation week and other holidays. Do know that you are all loved! Highly recommend this preschool to anyone looking for a place for their little one(s) to grow in creativity and imagination! It's a super cute preschool with a big backyard playground and most of, lots of play! All of the teachers she had there really put our minds at ease by making sure my daughter eats, naps and has fun activities every day! The parents are updated daily on an app that tells us what's on the menu for the day, how long my daughter napped for, and what activities they did during the day. Communication is always easy and quick! The kids there seem to have a really fun time with all the events they host and they also bring outside vendors in during the summertime so that the kids have even more excitement (foam party, puppet show, petting zoo etc). Our two year old who has been exclusively at home with for over a year due to the pandemic has adjusted so well at CCP thanks to the amazing teachers! Careful not to insult us, our daughter sheds a tear or two a drop off (it literally lasts for mere seconds) sometimes. She's always excited to go and so happy at pickup! It does take a bit of work for the teachers to get her to leave these days. One of the biggest concerns I had was napping. She's only napped at home in her bed, but her amazing teachers got her to nap on her first full day there. I wouldn't have believed it if Ms. Helen didn't send a picture lol Truthfully, I also had concerns with the food. Especially with one of the reviews on here but really, our daughter eats so much better now. One day she tried to feed us by asking as to say "ahhhh" as she put food in our mouth and then said "nom, nom, nom". Child safety is not a priority at this school . Director prefers for a child to be loaded onto a vehicle from the street so employee can utilize the child designated parking area. Law states preschool should have two parking spaces or driveway to safely load or unload child but apparently this law doesn't apply for Creative Preschool. Since being there, I've also met a parent that feels the same as our concerns. What we experienced , diaper rashes more than normal. poor communication skills from teachers. Loss of weight of our child (we nursed him back to health after leaving ). I believe they didn't spend the time making sure our child was eating. Horrible lunch food including hot dogs for lunch. We were not allowed bring our own food or drink as explained by teacher. Mistreatment/rudeness/ego trip by teacher. If you need more details, DM. This is an overdue review of this place. I share the same sentiment as another reviewer that putting my child in their care was the biggest mistake of my life. My apologies for being late, since my husband and I really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. We shouldn't have. I do hope future families will take heed and put their kiddos elsewhere. Be aware readers may find some of my descriptions graphic: Simply put, due to negligence, my son will forever (this was what the ER surgeon told us afterwards) carry a very visible scar on his face. He was no more than 3 at the time. And I believe it was no coincidence that the accident happened right after we put in our 2-week notice to leave the school. The "caregivers" simply stopped caring for his safety. My son went through trauma, shock (again, this is what the surgeon said due to my son's zombie-like cooperation when he and the nurses strapped him down for local anesthesia), and months of recovery. Yet the ER experience was real, the scar permanent. The daycare's lack of professionalism didn't stop there. After the incident, we got one phone call (no apologies from them - and actually blamed my son). That's it. Families, there are better options out there. read more

My son has been attending CCP for almost 2 years now and is very happy with the school. We transferred him from a family based daycare and it only took couple of week for him to adapt (thanks to Ms. Steanna and Ms. Michelle). This school is clean and organized. Ms. Helen puts her heart and is very creative with all the fun learning activities and age appropriate curriculum for the kids. CCP provides delicious and nutritious meals for the kids. This review is from the lens of a former elementary educator and current dropout prevention counselor and a parent of an adopted child who has experienced a rough start in life because of circumstances out of her and my control. Creative Child Preschool is an excellent option for preschool. They use Creative Curriculum, which is one of the better curriculums for preschool-aged children. My daughter was going to a Montessori school nearby (since she was 8 months) but it was no longer a good fit for her. She had to wear a uniform at 2 was just one of the reasons (not developmentally appropriate at all!!). CCP brings out the creativity in my daughter instead of stifling it. She can be herself first thing in the morning by wearing her own outfits. She also gets to create and learn while playing and exploring. The communication at CCP is great. They use an app which allows parents to know what's going on throughout the day. Whether it comes to napping, meals, events coming up (like classmates birthday parties) or pics & video of the fun things they are doing throughout the day. They just had an art show displaying my daughter's art over the weekend! They have a choice to join tap class on Tuesdays! Michelle, the director is a great leader. It shows because her teachers are happy and it feels like a community not just a school or daycare. The school is inviting and supportive of families. CCP has reopened since 1/4/2021 and our twin girls enjoy going back to school. The teachers and kids are required to wear mask and making sure kids are washing their hands on routine basis. Horrible preschool. I want to give zero star!!! Terrible teachers and especially the director Helen. This is a long overdue review. My boy is already in kindergarten. My boy was 2.5 years old at the time. This place had horrible food, and doesn't allow parents bring own lunch. They claimed that the kids will eventually give in and eat whatever food provided by the school. Even I had repeatedly told them my kid won't eat outside food, no exception. And of course they are not going to hand feed my kid (again, 2.5 years old) and they think the toddlers are like a robot and listen and follow whatever they want them to. Ridiculous. So my boy was starved everyday! Bathrooms are dirty. Most horrible thing is: one time my son was sick and was hospitalized for a few days due to a viral infection. I called the director and let her know we may need to keep my boy out for a couple weeks to make sure he recovered. She then started to tell me that my son has been a trouble in class, knocked down 5 kids in playground , kicked other kids and bite teachers (what the hell they accused a 2.5 years old all these things)...just because they sense that we were going to withdraw. So the director Helen called me making up all these excuses and basically wanted to kick my kid out. I asked her to show me the footage in camera and prove to me that my son kick kids, knocked down 5 kids and bite teachers. She refused to show me and my husband and I went there to Pick up the belongs and asked her politely again because we are not going to stay at this horrible place anyway but if they couldn't show me evidence that my kid did all that I wouldn't believe it. There is no reason to hide. Ended up she harassed us if we don't leave she would call the police!!!!!! What kind of people there and you are telling all the parents that you will take good care of our children? All these good reviews probably written from her friends and relatives. So I call inquiring about rates for a 2 year old and the lady who answered says, "we don't have any availability right now." Like really !?!? How rude and unprofessional of her when I simply called inquiring the rate and to get a response which never answered my question. The proper response would have been to give me the rate. This place has been the second home of our two kids. Ms. Helen has treated us like a family since I first inquired 3 years ago for our eldest child and up to now with our 2nd child. Their CREATIVE CURRICULUM and caring staff has been very helpful in broadening their imagination and academic learning which had helped our eldest when he moved to Kindergarten. They never fail to remind parents of special activities and kids' progress from the sign-in sheet up to the little board reminder on the school's gate (which you will never miss since this is the only exit). We also love the progress reports they have and the above mentioned special activities (Father's day, Mother's day, Parent's week, Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas show, Art show, etc). When it was time for my son to begin preschool, I searched far and wide to find just the right environment. The moment I toured Creative Child, I knew that I had found it. Ms. Helen and Creative Child were tremendously supportive and reassuring for both me and my son and provided me with daily updates of his transition into preschool. Because of this positive experience, he quickly came to love school and we both enjoyed reflecting upon his experiences each day. That was five years ago. Since then, my 2nd child has also attended the school and is now graduating to kindergarten. As a parent, I could not imagine a more caring group of teachers. Bringing my sons here feels more akin to visiting with amazingly creative, educational and inspiring family friends. As a teacher, I greatly appreciate their child centered, play-based approach to learning. It is engaging, developmentally appropriate, and promotes creative, social, cognitive, and emotional growth. Structured activities and choice allow for children to develop independence and autonomy while developing listening comprehension, letter recognition, number sense, self-regulation, and other important skills. Meanwhile, open-ended activities allow for individual expression and creativity. My sons' time here truly helped them to be "kindergarten ready." Yet, the strongest endorsement for this place is the fact that my eldest son, now entering second grade still talks about all the fun he had learning here. Or, that when choosing a book to read he often reaches for his or his brother's journals in which Ms. Jennifer patiently wrote down the imaginative stories they dictated and illustrated. My son attended this school (this location) for a little under a year. He would still be there if it wasn't for his behavioral problems due to trauma from his previous school. Major props to Ms Steanna and Ms Michelle for working with him and not giving up on him. However, the trauma from the other school was too much for him to overcome that certain things might have triggered that the teachers (and myself wasn't aware of), that his behavior got worse and teachers from the other classrooms had to step in and help. With that being said, as you can tell the teachers here, Ms Steanna, Ms Michelle, Ms Helen, Ms Jennifer, and Ms Shayna all care about the children. As a physician, I'm fortunate to have options when it comes to where I can send my son for pre-school. That's why I searched for a school that focused on child-centered education that would enhance/augment the lessons my son was already receiving at home. He has been so incredibly happy in the Creative Child atmosphere that he looks forward to spending time with his teachers and friends. Mrs. Helen is fantastic and incredibly warm. Upon first meeting, I was confident my son would be in good hands. The other teachers have always been incredibly warm as well. My son is constantly talking about all the things he learned that day -- the hands-on education and focus on socialization is quite superb. My daughter has been attending this school since 2012 and it's like a second home to her. She LOVES school and wishes she can be in school 7 days a week...My daughter has had all the teachers and she loves all of them! With that said, we toured around when i needed to put my daughter in school and i instantly said yes to this place. Why? Well the staff were hands on and friendly. If a little toddler is crying hysterically bc s/he misses their mommy, they actually pick the toddler up to comfort him or her. This school has been renovated and it looks so modern, clean, and nice. I enrolled my daughter at Creative Child a few months ago and our whole family is very happy with the school. Admittedly, she had a hard couple of days transitioning to being out of the home, but Ms. Helen and the other teachers were great with both her and me to get us through it quickly. My son started at Creative Child Preschool about a year ago, he loves going to school and is proud to show me his artwork and creations. He is in the 2 year old class and loves his teachers Miss Michelle and Miss Chandra. Everyday I am amazed by how fast he is learning new words. He used to cry every morning for several months, and the teachers would naturally pick him up and comfort him. Recommended the school to 2 of my friends and their children are currently enrolled in the school. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this preschool! My daughter attended Creative Child last year. I wish I had known about it much earlier. Prior to Creative Child she went to a different school in Temple City. It was a good one as well, but it was more academic based. Creative Child has a different approach to learning. It focuses on play based learning, which I found to be better suited for her needs. That's not to say that the children don't learn anything there. On the contrary, they do learn letters, numbers, and all the usual things. However, rather than do dittos and watch academic videos, they have a more hands on approach, and stress other areas of learning. Because my daughter was already ahead as far as reading and math, I chose to enroll her in a school that would help her with socialization, and better prepare her for kindergarten. Being an only child, she really didn't interact with other children on a regular basis, and actually preferred the company of adults. After a year at Creative Child I can honestly say that she now plays well with kids of all ages. In addition, the school did a great job of preparing her for kindergarten and school in general. There was routine, there was homework, and there were tasks they had to share. As far as the facility itself, it's really very cute. The school is basically a house that has been converted into classrooms. It's clean and in my opinion feels more like home than school (which I love). The playground is mostly shaded by a beautiful tree. The children get plenty of exercise, and if that's not enough, the school has additional activities you can pay for such as My Gym, Teddy Bear Tap, and Imagination Station. The teachers are all attentive, patient, nurturing, and really do care for your children. There are many events throughout the school year that allow for parents to meet one another, and for everyone to just hang out-- families, staff, and all. Lunch is included 4 days a week, as well as their morning and afternoon snacks. Overall I was very pleased with Creative Child and would definitely recommend it. read more

My son has been attending this school for over a year and we've been extremely happy and impressed by the quality of care. Initially the school was part of the Serendipity family but earlier this year one of the teachers purchased this location and one of the others. We couldn't be any happier with the change of ownership. Ms. Helen has completely updated and overhauled the facility beautifully! I especially love how the curriculum appears to have shifted to help the children learn to be more self-sufficient and creative thinkers. My very passionate/emotional 3 year old can be hard to handle at times but the entire staff is fabulous about stepping in to help calm him down and redirect his outbursts. Another great thing about the school are the extra programs they offer access to, such as tap and gym classes or hearing and speech evaluations. There is such a great feeling of community too and the school does such a great job in organizing events which give us an opportunity to get to know the other parents, kids, and teachers. ALL of the friendly teachers are very involved and attentive with the children, not just those in their particular classes. Lunch is included Mon-Thurs. Lots of fun art projects and the classrooms are super clean, bright, and filled with interactive activities. read more

Finding child care is difficult - having the peace of mind and to be able to focus on work, not worrying about your child where he or she is during the day, that is what this place brings! Ms Helen and her team have done an amazing job. My daughter Alex has very good manners and loves learning. We will miss this place as we will be transitioning to kindergarten in the fall but we definitely love and I've recommended this place to several people! read more
