There prices are about 20% more than the highest eBay price. I would venture to say 30 to 40% more than press start in new west or game bit in mission. Honestly I wanted super Mario Allstars for my snes. This guy wanted $69 for it. I went to press start and it was $29. That's $40???? Over double the competition. Avoid this con man at all costs. Seriously there is like 10 retro game stores in the lower mainland. Take a drive, it will literally cost less in gas then to deal with this bozo. Or order the most expensive copy of what your looking for on eBay. You will still save money. I was in there yesterday, their games are also in shit condition. There snes and nes games. Large selection of new and past issues of comics to browse from…read more This is the first comic book shop I have found in Coquitlam (Port Moody). It's kind of located away from the main strip in a non-descript building. Once you enter, head to the far wall for all the latest comics. On your way there, you'll also find aisles and aisles filled with boxes of old comics. A quick perusal had me finding 20+ year old comics available. Comics are very well organized with labeled partitions. I had no trouble locating some of my favorite titles. That said, there were many back issues missing from the title I was pursuing. Prices, however, we're good since they were virtually cover price for 3-4 year old comics. The staff are friendly. In the short time I was there, a few regulars dropped by and were greeted like long-time friends. This store also has a large selection of Dungeons and Dragons figures.....the kind that you paint and role-play with. Not my thing, but it's available if you like that sort of thing. Also, they have a small selection of action figures, statues and busts of comic book characters, although prices seem a bit higher than I have seen in Vancouver shops. All in all, a good way to relive your childhood one comic book at a time.

I hope every town or city has one like this. I don't know if comic-book-guy works there anymore, but I used to go in at super random times, and - without fail - there would always be a debate/discussion/nerd-out on (and this is all a positive): - Who was stronger, Green Hulk or Grey hulk? - Why your D/D character can't carry his battle axe upright on his back. - The new Marvel movie (pick your poison) was just so wrong! - Why DC comics are an eighth of a centimetre taller than Marvel - Singing lyrics to some obscure Gen X indie band. - Sheer silence if a hot girl I was dating accompanied me in. lol. Not kidding. Conversations would come to a full stop as we entered the room. Their older dungeony location was more... 'mom's old basement' - haven't been in the new place so really can't comment on them now... But the owners and his peons have been around for decades - so that's pretty rad. Bringing the authentic (and may I add ORIGINAL) comic-book-geek-chic to the Tri Cities. A suburban comic institution if you will.

Before even doing a demo he mentioned that he normally wouldn't do a demo on first day or maybe it was within first hour. If I said something seemed warm or bright to me he would say I was wrong and go on this long explanation. Or if I said that in general tubes were warm which I like but he would argue that solid state can be warm. If said phono had warmer sound he said no it's more detailed and can get warm sound from CD quality in solid state which is true. Basically anything I said he would argue about it like he was offended. Never experienced this from any hifi store before. Very weird. I mentioned that I have a butler audio 5 channel tube amp for home theatre. He got surprisingly mad I had such a thing and said I should not use a tube amp for home theatre as you lose details. Which is true but I will bloody well use tubes in whatever application i want! I mentioned I use various sources like bluetooth and mac pc, apple music. He got mad again in that audiophile snobby way. I know tidal and roon are the better ones but come on, people can and will use whatever they want, even youtube! Im coming from experience with martin logan, buchardt, b&w, dynaudio, totem, harbeth. There are certain knowns that speakers have signature sound. To me b&w are bright and analytical, harbeth are neutral with great mid vocals, totem and dynaudio are similar with pronounced highs, logans have wide soundstage. So if I said a speaker was warm or bright he was like dont use those terms that's wrong. Come on, dont be a prick about it. It's a fast easy way to describe a sound. Of course can change with different components but speakers have a certain default sound. Just let a customer hear the equipment and accept how they feel about it. I just couldnt take it any more and stormed out. If there were cameras inside check Jan 16 around 2:30pm. Fron this experience, I would never buy from this store nor recommend to any friends. I'm so pissed. The guy was so argumentative I have no clue how anybody would buy from him. I thought he would take it easy so let him do his rants but he never let up so had to leave. Completely disappointed in customer service where it felt like the salesman was trying to make me ashamed of how I felt about components, what application I wanted to use them for, what sources I was using, what components I currently have. I think I only actually had a true demo for 15 sec, the rest of the time was his ranting. I left and went to another store which was a much more pleasant experience.

It is a nice record shoppe. They say that they have a * LOT * of vinyl and I have no reason to…read moredoubt this. I was disappointed by the items on display though as I could not find any of the records I was looking for. After collecting records for almost 50 year, I have become very selective :-) A lot of their vinyl are in the cabinates and "in-the-back". Although the location of this particular shoppe is not convenient for me, I dropped in as I was in the neighborhood. It is seldom that I get this far east of Vancouver and seized the opportunity. The people who run the store were friendly and gracious in that they allowed be to rummage through the "not yet cataloged", newly acquired items, Thankfully I did manage to find 3 items of interest, original pressings of "Small Faces", "Deep Purple", and one other. Although I considered these items expensive, I believe that I paid what they were worth. Like everyone else, I like to get a better deal. They were kind enough to play the Small Faces on their system, it was a little beat up and I needed to verify it's value. However, their sound system was ... amm .... er .... gee ... really bad. The speakers seam to be located at the back of the store and it sounded like the music was being played in a tunnel. A lot of bass was heard, that's about it. All I could determine was that the record did not skip :-( A shame, really, as they have spent a fair amount on the reset of the shop. The quality of the sound needs to be improved. It doesn't cost much to put some quality speakers throughout a store. Would I come back??? Purely on speculation? No, it is a long way to go! I would come back if they would be willing to work with me and put aside the items I am interested in.
