I'm honestly so disappointed with our experience at Sunrise Rollerland -- and this isn't even the first bad one, just the one that finally pushed me to say something. I grew up in this rink. I was a club skater for over 15 years and spent a huge part of my childhood here. It used to feel like home -- fun, safe, and full of energy. But now? It feels like nobody working there actually cares. The only person who seemed happy to be there was Genevieve (who also happens to be a club skater). Everyone else was either rude, disinterested, or just plain unfriendly. What really got to me, though, was the total lack of standards. There's a dress code posted right outside, yet when I asked about it, the manager (Ellie) told me it was "old" and that people can just wear whatever they want. I'm sorry, but when you have kids skating around, there needs to be some level of respect and boundaries. Adult skate nights? Sure -- go for it. But mixed-age sessions? No. It's not appropriate for someone to be skating around in a bra while little kids are there. And instead of handling it reasonably -- like just asking the person to put on a shirt -- management told her to leave. Which just shows how out of touch they are with how to handle things professionally or with any common sense. It honestly breaks my heart to see how far this place has fallen. The owners (who I heard are selling) should be ashamed of how it's being run. This rink used to mean something to our community. It was a place where kids learned discipline, families made memories, and people felt safe. They probably don't care, but I hope they get to read this and go into their establishment and see for themselves. read more

My family and I went to this skating rink on my birthday and had a blast. The employee at the register was super nice, the process for rental skate is super easy. You give them your shoes they in return provide with skate rental. That's cool because you never have to worry about anybody stealing your J's. My very grown daughter needed a skate walker. Lol. Average roller skating rink but we continue to go coz there is nothing else nearby. The floor is old and needs to be refinished and the whole place needs a upgrade tbh. Food is horrible. They are literally heating food on countertop ovens be it a pizza or hotdogs. Staff is just kids who are rude and love to eye roll and bicker. read more

As the closest roller rink to us, this is not a bad experience at all. Fairly good deal, especially regarding children skating for free certain days. Entry for two was $14 on a Sunday night (1/14/24) Employees are young and seem overworked. Could use a morale boost from management! Fairly busy on the night we went, with about 70% kids and 30% adults. Some of those kids are wild on the rink. Our group was 6 people and 4 of us were knocked down by kids. Still has the same old carpet and foot odor smell from years ago. Skate attendant swaps your shoes for the skates to ensure they return at the end of your stay. I went to Rollerland a lot as a kid in the 90's. Now that I have my own kid, we've returned a few times with pretty positive results. I've rented skates there every time I've gone, and it's been a positive experience. The customer service here is average and is on-par with just about every other recreational facility in the area. Yes, customer service has declined, but it's gone down everywhere else too since the pandemic. Manage your expectations. The food isn't great. It wasn't great in the early 90's and it's not great today. The food isn't any better at any of the other Nor Cal rinks either. Manage your expectations. Yes, the place is outdated but it's not falling apart. I have no idea how they've managed to keep things going with the low prices, but it's $12 because it's outdated. A bathroom renovation in my home just cost me $20k. That's a lot of $12 admissions and I'm sure it'd cost more for a commercial bathroom. Manage your expectations. I read some of the 1-star reviews and it looks like a bunch of the typical champagne taste on a beer budget crowd, or what you'd expect from people with limited grammar or spelling. Manage your expectations. For $12, enjoy it while it lasts, because after it's sold, I'm sure it'll be a lot more expensive, assuming it remains a roller rink. This place brings back nostalgia to me, I remember my mother teaching me how to skate as a little child and continued coming here up until I was 18 years old! We played rink games like Red Light, Green Light, Limbo, Dice Game and Freeze Skate! Our 6 year old actually took lessons here as as a toddler and we loved her teacher! It had been awhile so unfortunately she forgot how to skate, but they gladly switched her skates to beginner roller skates(not pictured) and we rented a Skate Mate for $5 so she could hold on and safely skate. Mind you we still took turns bent over holding her hands to make sure she didn't fall. I also purchased a pair of their skate socks for just $2.50 so I wouldn't get blisters, I'm a pretty novice skater and skate fast, so thick socks are needed! Hubby and I signed up for the 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM admission which was just $8.00, skate rental included! And these skates were new and improved too and we signed our daughter up for their Kids Skate free for Skaters 12 and under. They get 2 free admissions a week! I would definitely recommend this small business that's been in operation since 1973 with one of the best skating rinks in the US! That's because their skating floor is Northern hard-rock maple and it's coated, which means it's easier to skate on! They have an area to purchase food, drinks and candy, a little area to purchase skates and brand name products and even have arcade games kids can play! Staff are both helpful and sweet, music is family-friendly and they even host parties! We are looking forward to returning, especially since skating is my favorite date-night activity! Every time I visit this place, I end up regretting it. The staff mostly consists of young workers who unfortunately lack basic customer service skills. I stood in line at the register for about 10 minutes, and when my daughter politely asked for assistance, the employee--Elizabeth--responded by shouting "Hold on!" It was enough for me to walk away without buying anything. Still, I decided to give it another try on family night. We returned and bought some popcorn, which turned out to be stale and unpleasant. I asked if we could exchange it for a pretzel, but the staff, particularly someone named Sony, flatly refused. I was here on a Monday night which is a Christian night but most of the songs were pop or rap and they played Demons and Monster but when I requested Folsom Prison Blue they turned me down saying it wasnt a Christian song they wouldn't even play Let it Go which is a kids song but played a rap song that says "I got black I got white wich is a pretty bad song would not recommend. The employees are all very nice and helpful. We came about 30 minutes late, but it was still worth it, the price isn't outrageous and its a fun place to go especially when you don't have a bunch of money to spend. I tried to rent some blades from them since mine don't fit very well, but they didn't have enough support, and I eventually had to put my own on. People really take family businesses for granted. The atmosphere is fun, the employees may be young but they're all so sweet and friendly (so long as YOU and your demonic kids follow the rules). The fact they let this happen and delete my first review stating I crossed the line shows the insanity these people want to follow. Love this place been going for quite some time, I really enjoy skating here with the family (that's still alive) came here for the first a couple days after my mom passed on to the heavens above and Rollerland just spoke to me it made me feel comfortable and gave me some peace of mind, the staff here is also ABSOLUTELY wonderful never have I felt more welcomed by a staff than at sunrise Rollerland. I highly recommend skating here if you live in the area and please remember that it's still just a family owned business. read more

Terrible experience, First of all staff was just rude , they rolled their eyes every time I requested a song and said "No its Christian night" Although they played the most demonic rock music , But when people literally ask for the song Let It Go and they say no. Looks like their story keeps on "growing" as well.. apparently there WAS footage which they didn't want to release to avoid getting sued. It was the first question out of their mouths when I called them from the hospital saying "are you going to sue?" Here is what they had to say on Facebook: "Video shows no train as you claim and everyone was skating about the same speed when you fell. You told the manager that night someone skated in front of you and you fell. A few days after you called and said a blond haired lady with a tank top was annoying you and you thought it was her. So far your story keeps growing. The older woman you claimed helped you with a wheelchair is 19 or 20. You claimed, nobody stopped to help, but immediately a group of people stopped to help you, the floor was cleared. The video shows you falling, but nobody touching you. Your original statement that someone skated in front of you and you fell seems to be what happened. You really need to stop blaming mysterious individuals and take responsibility that you fell. It's bad enough you were hurt, but attacking the clientele and calling them criminals is not acceptable." Attacking the clientele. Isn't that hilarious? I was the clientele that was attacked, hence why I said their could potentially be a criminal on their floor assaulting people knowing their will be no repercussions. UPDATE: 3/4/2024 This place has gotten significantly worse. It's ran by a bunch of teenagers still. It's no longer Christian night on Mondays. They play more secular songs than Christian. I asked about the song selection and they gave me an excuse that people were requesting the secular songs. Right! On Christian night........... I think it's the workers wanting those songs and it's being played to our innocent children. I don't want that filth influencing my children! As soon as I asked about the songs, the girl put on a hard rock/heavy metal song just for spite. You could totally tell they did it on purpose too. The management never responds to all the bad reviews because they don't care. ====================================================== We come every week and experienced the same thing every time. Not only us, but several people that we know and even strangers have commented on the employees being very rude. There is an African American girl manager there that is extremely rude and does not care about her job or customer service. She yelled at my children and even chased us out while we were trying to take our skates off. It's quite sad. I've even tried to reach out to the owner with no success. She needs to be replaced. Who knows how much business this facility has lost because of her unprofessionalism. Update 3/21/2023: I've tried contacting the owners again and they are not responding. I will say that they seem to care less about the managers behavior and her complete lack of customer service. I will also add that the manager must be either adopted or a close friend of the family. My party had lots of kids who were skating for the first time, and they had a great experience. The skate rental is inexpensive, and you can also bring your own skates if you prefer. They also provide skate helpers for those who aren't as confident on the rink. The staff also intermittently hosts fun games that are open for everyone to play. We didn't use the lockers, but there are plenty of places to hang your bags if you don't want to carry them with you. My advice is to not carry a lot of stuff with you though. We didn't try the food or anything, but overall we had a fun experience skating! read more

Rude "owner". Did nothing but had an "owner" try to block me in as soon as I pulled into the open and unblocked parking lot. During business hours btw. Didn't try to talk to me any other time, first interaction with this woman. This is supposed to be a family friendly business? Edit: I typically hangout with my girlfriend in the parking lot for a bit. People do donuts and wheelies in this parking lot all the time, tweakers all over the place. Sunrise Rollerland is a classic fun place to go with friends and family. It boasts one of the largest skating rinks in the world.

It's operated by high schoolers. The service staff are not friendly. Staff just hung out together and flirted with each other instead of running the place. It's expensive and outdated. read more

I grew up watching movies at the United Artists Cinemas (if anyone remembers, it was the $4 movies inside Sunrise Mall.) My point is I always knew this place was there but as a teenager it just wasn't "cool," at the time. Boy did I MISS OUT. This place is a retro blast from the past all the way to medieval times! The first thing I noticed were how friendly the staff were, they actually took the time to answer my "dumb" questions with sincerity. It was a smooth process from entry to putting on the rollerblades. The clientele at this place were mostly families looking to get out of this California rain while creating gleeful memories. There was plenty of room to find a place to sit even after arriving an hour after they opened and the rink is pretty big. Ps. Plan to spend a bit more than just skating because their arcade is actually pretty nice. read more

So... My brother and sister in law held their son's 9th birthday party here, and what started as a fun afternoon turned awful due to some seriously terrible customer service. The trouble started when the skating ended and the party was supposed to begin. My brother and his wife booked the King Arthur birthday room for 3:15 PM. By 3:20 PM we still hadn't been called over to the room, so my brother tracks down one of the employees and asks to be let in. We walk into the King Arthur room to find that there is trash/food from the prior party that hadn't been cleaned. No biggie, we think. They can just clean the room. As we're waiting for the room to be cleaned, yet another employee approaches my brother to let him know that the King Arthur room was doubled booked, and despite the fact that my brother pre-paid to reserve the room, they didn't have an alternative space. My brother is obviously frustrated, but decides to deal with the need for a refund later and not let it ruin his son's birthday party. We grab one of the long tables in the food court area and set up food/drinks, while my brother discusses the alternate option with one of the employees. By this time, it's past 3:30 PM, and my brother is told by the second employee that we can have the full hour he paid for on the table in the food court - we just needed to be wrapped up by 4:30 PM, as they had another group renting the rink at that time. At 4:15 PM, the "guy in charge," a young man who couldn't have been more than 19 or 20, approaches our table and asks "who are the parents here?" My brother approaches him, tells him that this is his son's party and asks what the issue is. The "guy in charge" tells him that we need to immediately clear out out of the tables, as we only had permission to use the table until 4:15 PM. My brother is obviously frustrated at this point, as we've been treated poorly and the young man's tone is overly aggressive - we had just sung "happy birthday" to my nephew and were passing out cake when he approached our table. The "guy in charge" approached our table expecting conflict and his energy reflected that. My brother asked him to step away from the party and speak to him, because at this point the other parents are beginning to get upset at his tone and it's ruining the cake. My brother tells him that one his employees promised us use of the table until 4:30, that it was only 15 minutes and that we'd be out by 4:30. The young man continues to berate my brother until my brother stops him, tells him we're going to finish the party and walks away. We finish at 4:30 PM, as promised, and are walking out of the rink when I see a Citrus Heights Police Officer enter the building... the "guy in charge" called the Police on us. At no point did anyone in our party threaten, intimidate or harass the young man or any of the other employees. We're middle aged men and women, professionals. We simply weren't going to allow a 20 year old kid ruin a 9 year old's birthday party over 15 minutes. The Officer was courteous and respectful - he heard my brother out and actually apologized for the way we were treated. The Officer's body language reflected the embarrassment and frustration that we all felt over the "guy in charge's" completely absurd decision to call the Police. That young man's behavior was a textbook case of implicit bias. I watched it play out in real time as approached our table - he saw my diverse family and made a cognitive decision that he was going to treat us with inferior customer service based solely upon his intrinsic perception of the quality of service we deserved. He was wrong for that, and needs to reflect on the internal values/beliefs that allows him to treat certain people so poorly. Sunrise Rollerland, we did not feel welcome in your place of business. If you want to appeal to a more diverse clientele, you need to invest some time and effort into training your team to be better employees. read more

This is a great place to skate for families, anyone else, you're better off with either "Roller King" or "The Rink." The music mix consists mostly of imagine dragons and irrelevant pop from decades ago. I was also pretty disappointed about 45 minutes into the session to have been told you cannot spin, slide stop, or do anything that might slightly damage the floor. I asked to see where that was posted and was told by the worker in the front "I don't know, but I know it's a rule." Overall, without being too much of a Karen, I WOULD recommend this rink to a family of beginner skaters just going out for an evening of fun. That being said, anyone who skates somewhat often, there are better places out there for you. read more

Went to a birthday party for my granddaughter. This place is so unorganized, overpriced and has absolutely no customer service. It is managed and run by teenagers. Not an adult staff member anywhere!!! If you are planning a party in the hopes of having it in a private room, beware. Only the top price tier has use of the private room for the entire party. My daughter paid $300 for a party of 15 ten year olds thinking she would have a private party room. Unfortunately she only had use of the room for 45 minutes for a 3 hour party. We brought our own cake and they only credited her $5. The pizza was disgusting and they ran out of ice cream. To make matters worse, the "party planner" kept reminding us every 5 minutes when we had to vacate the room. Worst customer service ever!!! read more

One of the nicer rinks I've been in. Well taken care of floor. The rentals are upgraded from the old type of skates but still poorly adjusted. (If you've been skating a while and feel you'll continue invest in your own skates - you may skate better than you realize.) Very clean, I love that they offer the walkers for little ones -keeps everyone safe. The boys at the rental counter were efficient. The girl at the front desk was possibly the most dreadful rudest teenager they could have found for the job. read more

Nice large ring, top 40s music pop. Eat before you come here, else suffer from waiting 40mins in line and wasting your skate time. There needs to be 1 person collecting payments and 2 others fulfilling food orders. So many people in line just wanting to buy drinks which takes mere seconds, and it would probably increase their profits. Or get a drink vending machine.. Bigger space than the Roseville roller king. They also have more free skating instead of skating games. It is a little more expensive than the Roseville one though. They offer a snack bar, lockers, walkers for the beginners, birthday parties, and most of all, a fun time. read more
