I'm wondering if 2 and under are free, and if there are toddler size skates available? Thanks, Yelp! :)

Hi Jennifer! We have skates for Kids size 8 and up - anyone who is skating will need a ticket, but those who aren't skating are welcome to hang out and watch! We'll see you on the ice! ⛸

We've been a couple of times, most recently on their $3 Thursday evening. We love that you can bring you own skates. They have skates in all sizes for kids and adults. There are lots of spaces to sit and put on the skates. They also have tables near the entrance and then along the rink itself. They offer skate helpers but you have to rent them out. They also have lockers for belongings. It can get pretty crowded, and lines for the food can get long. They also have vending machines and arcade games. Skating itself is fun, but be mindful of your surroundings. It's common for some expert to wiz by you and catch you off guard. But it is cool to see the better skaters do their stuff. They also have some games and decent music playing. It's overwhelming at times but still a great way to be active with the family.

Walking inside feels like stepping back into the late '70s or early '80s, complete with the retro atmosphere and dim lighting. If you're looking for an old-school skating rink experience, this place delivers. There are plenty of rental skates available, and the facility generally does what it's intended to do, provide a place to skate and have fun. That said, don't expect a lot of modern amenities or extras. It's a fairly basic skating rink without many frills. One area that could use improvement is the snack bar. During my visits, it appeared that only one or two employees were trying to keep up with orders. While they were working hard, service was slow, and I observed an employee handling cash and then touching food items with the same bare hands, which was concerning. For beginners, the skate-assist devices are simply PVC pipe frames. Unfortunately, they feel somewhat unstable, which is the opposite of what most new skaters need when they're trying to build confidence on the floor. With Rollerland currently closed (hopefully only temporarily), Roller King is one of the few skating options left in the area. However, after visiting several other rinks around the Sacramento region, my two young daughters consistently prefer those alternatives. Overall, Roller King provides a decent, old-school skating experience, but there are definitely areas where it could improve.

I grew up in this rink. I was a club skater for over 15 years and spent a huge part of my childhood here. It used to feel like home -- fun, safe, and full of energy. But now? It feels like nobody working there actually cares. The only person who seemed happy to be there was Genevieve (who also happens to be a club skater). Everyone else was either rude, disinterested, or just plain unfriendly. What really got to me, though, was the total lack of standards. There's a dress code posted right outside, yet when I asked about it, the manager (Ellie) told me it was "old" and that people can just wear whatever they want. I'm sorry, but when you have kids skating around, there needs to be some level of respect and boundaries. Adult skate nights? Sure -- go for it. But mixed-age sessions? No. It's not appropriate for someone to be skating around in a bra while little kids are there. And instead of handling it reasonably -- like just asking the person to put on a shirt -- management told her to leave. Which just shows how out of touch they are with how to handle things professionally or with any common sense. It honestly breaks my heart to see how far this place has fallen. The owners (who I heard are selling) should be ashamed of how it's being run. This rink used to mean something to our community. It was a place where kids learned discipline, families made memories, and people felt safe. They probably don't care, but I hope they get to read this and go into their establishment and see for themselves.

You give them your shoes they in return provide with skate rental. That's cool because you never have to worry about anybody stealing your J's. My very grown daughter needed a skate walker. Lol. We skated and end the end turned in your rental and received your shoes and you out the door. Until next time

Venue: the ice rink is a circle around a giant Christmas tree that used to be a railroad turntable. At night, you can see all the sparkly Christmas decor and lights. There's some photo opportunities for young children next to the rink. Not that they have a policy against using phones on the ice rink. Ticket purchasing: this is a cashless ice rink, so they only accept payment online on their website. Skate rentals: After showing them your ticket, you can go pick up your skates at the back of the venue. I believe they mentioned that all skates were men's sizes, so for women you might need a shoe that is one size lower than your normal shoe size. I got a size 7, even though my shoe size is 8.5. My friends noted that there is inconsistency in the level of cushion/comfort in some skates. Crowd/Ice: This ice rink was pretty crowded even at 8 PM on a Sunday on a non-peak holiday time. It didn't seem like they refreshed the ice before our session. Overall, this ice rink was pretty fun and we loved the holiday decor. I don't know that crowd levels are low at any time, but I'd consider prioritizing adult only skating sessions :)

As someone who grew up going to roller rink birthdays, it was instantly nostalgic for me. The area was clean, spacious, & had a lot of table & booth seating. There were a few arcade games, but some were out of order. They played current music & had cute lighting. Walker-type devices were available to rent for a fee for those still learning. Rental skates were adequate & true to our normal shoe sizes. Lockers for storing personal items were 50 cents. Pizza was served hot & was satisfying enough for a kids party. Staff was not interactive besides the DJ, who led everyone in a birthday moment--having everyone form a circle around the the guest of honor to sing & do the Hokey Pokey. Otherwise, the staff just carried on with tasks & did not give off friendly vibes.

The staff were extremely helpful in explaining our options and directing us when setting up. The kids had a blast skating, playing limbo, and all joining in the center of the rink to sing happy birthday. The DJ played songs/music requested by us and the guests. It was honestly such a stress free experience and my daughter loved it. Shout out to the gal running the front desk, she was especially helpful and her customer service is top notch. Sadly, I can't recall her name.
