We were invited to a 2 hour private birthday party on a Saturday. Based on reviews, I was leery of what the experience would be like. I'm glad to say that we had a nice time. As someone who grew up going to roller rink birthdays, it was instantly nostalgic for me. The area was clean, spacious, & had a lot of table & booth seating. There were a few arcade games, but some were out of order. They played current music & had cute lighting. Walker-type devices were available to rent for a fee for those still learning. Rental skates were adequate & true to our normal shoe sizes. Lockers for storing personal items were 50 cents. Pizza was served hot & was satisfying enough for a kids party. Staff was not interactive besides the DJ, who led everyone in a birthday moment--having everyone form a circle around the the guest of honor to sing & do the Hokey Pokey. Fantastic birthday party experience! We reserved a private party for my daughter's birthday in July. The staff were extremely helpful in explaining our options and directing us when setting up. The kids had a blast skating, playing limbo, and all joining in the center of the rink to sing happy birthday. The DJ played songs/music requested by us and the guests. Hands down cleanest rink I've ever been to. Snack bar is exceptionally clean. So are all the tables, carpet, and rink itself. Fun games, they play about 2 per session. Very fair pricing. I just threw a birthday party for my daughter here and they did such an amazing job. The venue is clean and has a ton of space, the skating rink is huge. It has plenty of space for big groups. Highly recommended for anyone learning to skate. Only $7 a person. The Saturday staff are very compassionate and willing to work with all levels of skaters. They have cards that tell you how to progress to the next level, and a mini graduation ceremony at the end of every Saturday class for anyone who completed their level and moving up to the next. Visited Foothill Skate with a friend and my gosh was it a throw back. I feel like I stepped right back into my childhood. The wacky carpet, the cheap snacks, and the bumpin music was certainly what you'd expect from a classic roller rink. The prices were extremely fair and make this a wonderful place for a frequent hang. I was surprised to see a kids birthday happening. I didn't realize kids still had birthday parties at roller rinks! This place was so cute and very well maintained! The place is retro which is always a plus but very clean. Prices are cheap for rentals and admission and they take care of the floor very well. Definitely a no nonsense roller skating rink. Kids have birthdays here and they roller skate. You park, walk in through the door, pay for skating and a rental and go through the locked doors that they buzz you through. You walk to the back to get the size you need for your skates, put them on, put your stuff in the lockers they have available (coins are recommended by the way) and that's that. If you get hungry along the way, there's a snack bar with cheap eats but they only accept cash. The only place that accepts card is when you first walk in and pay for your session and rental. There are tables and chairs but most of the time the parties take over those areas. Food options typically range from pizza, hot dog, pop corn, nachos, chips, sodas, water, etc. Roller skating makes you sweaty. It's a work out. There are people falling left and right and there are people speeding by you and around you left and right. You need to be aware of your surroundings at all times. Despite it being a workout, it's fun if you know what you're doing, if you don't know what you're doing, there are roller helpers to help you roll along. Use one if you aren't a strong roller skater. Better safe than sorry. It's fun. Workers are pretty nice. They take safety seriously so that's always a plus, the bathrooms are questionable, and the food is just ok. Like I said, this place is non nonsense. It was fun for my sons and I. We're usually here for birthday parties so it's fun for that aspect. We loved having a private birthday party at Foothill Skate Inn today! Everyone had a great time skating, including the adults! I chose to do a private party so that we could invite lots of friends and so siblings and parents can skate too! We ordered a 6 pizzas from the snack bar and brought our own cupcakes, water bottles and ice cream which was allowed. There is an extra fee if you want to bring other outside food for a private party or you can just order from the snack bar. The employees were super attentive and helpful, the DJ was awesome. Wish I could give ZERO starts!!!! Paid almost $500 to rent the place out for a 2 hour party, 15 minutes into our 2 hours. Staff had not cleared out the people before us. And when we asked them to they said they would and then did nothing. The music was barely loud enough to hear. And when my autistic 8-year-old son put 4 quarters in a video game That did not work, but with no sign that said out of service, I told the staff but they said they would not refund the money because the skating rink does not own the machines and that there were signs that said so on the machines, but there were no signs. On that particular machine, so I spoke with the manager, who was a miserable and very rude woman. She told me.Why would anyone put money in a machine with a blank screen!!! I told her my kid is 8 and autistic!!!! Most kids would put money in without thinking twice about a black screen!! There was no "out of service" sign on it!!! I reminded her that we had just paid almost $500 for this party.So for her to refuse to give my special needs sun his four quarters back, was outrageous!! She said she would give it to me this time but that I should really keep him off the machines!! What the hell!!! How dare her!!! During our 2 hours, we got absolutely no help from the young miserable and ghetto staff, there was no food or drinks included in our fee, and when it was time for the next party, they were QUICK to get us out!!!!! We should all be super grateful that a roller rink is still even open in Sacramento let alone three. They are all gone in the Bay Area. I've been coming to Foothill now for about 4 years since moving to West Sacramento. This rink is great! The floor is well maintained, smooth, no bumps or issue w the wood flooring. I generally come during the summer and winter breaks from 1-4pm. It's never crowded, the music is good and the lights get turned off and the black lights come on often. We have had two birthdays here. The staff was awesome to work with. The only thing I wish they could fix is the food. Fresh pretzels, pizza, nachos with more topping options and drink options like sparkling water, coffee (even in a can) and maybe coconut water would be a game changer. If they stepped up the options at the snack bar it could help business. read more

Don't waste your money! If you aren't paying for a private party experience, DON'T BOTHER! We paid $150 dollars to do the free skate on a Saturday afternoon from 1-3:30. The website for Foothill Skate says that private parties are only held Saturday mornings until 1pm. We found an empty table and ordered some snacks and drinks, and started to skate. We were asked to leave the rink several times during the free skate so that the birthday parties (what?!?) could have the rink to themselves to skate and do activities. Around 2:30 we were asked by an employee to move from our table for another birthday party that would be coming in at 3:15. One of the employees came and showed us a different table that we could sit at, so we moved to the other table and kept skating. At 2:45 a different employee came over to tell us that we needed to give up the new table we had been moved to for another party. (wHaT?!?) Remember that the website explicitly says that private parties do not take place after 1pm. We spent $150 for the privilege to skate, and private parties had a $100 or $200 flat rate, depending on the size of the party and the amenities you chose. When we asked to speak to the manager, we were told, "that's not my job. I have other stuff I have to do right now." (WHAT?!?) Ultimately we went and talked to the manager who told us that there wasn't anything she could do to help us. (WHAAAAAAT?!?) We pulled off our skates, and will NEVER be back! IF YOU AREN'T PAYING FOR A PRIVATE PARTY, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! Don't waste your money! read more

People put their personalities and their egos in the way and get offended and give a rank one star rating because of somebody's attitude or some bullshit reason! I wouldn't even give it a one star review. Went to a private birthday party and the workers were yelling and screaming at the customers who paid for the party. They were 30 minutes late to letting the party in and begin and then allowed for no time at the end of the party to get the gifts or anything packed up before yelling and screaming at the party guests. This has been around forever! I actually grew up at this skate ring when I was a kid. My school hosted their skate nights here, so it was a blast from the past when my school (I'm a teacher) had their skate night here. I will say, it hasn't changed a bit in 20 years. What has been noticeably updated is the arcade games. It would have been cool to see the old ones, but let's me real! When we went, everything was clean. I didn't try the food, because I was out on the rink doing laps around my students! The people working seemed friendly enough. They charge $5 for the kiddie helpers (I call them). These help those young or new skaters that need something to hold onto while they practice skating. They seemed to have a ton, because that night every single one was rented and on the rink. I will say that it is a bit small in that it lacks comfortable seating for everyone. When it's packed, parents are standing near tables or along the walls because there's no one to sit. We had my sons 5th Birthday party here and rented out the facility. We had it from 9am-11am on a Sunday morning and provided doughnuts and water for the event. It was $300 to rent the whole facility with our own private DJ and open snack bar for 2 hours. It can accommodate up to 65 people. It was perfect for the private party and it included skate rental and the gliders to help the kids that couldn't skate. The kids wound up taking off skates and running around floor in socks. Parents are able to walk on floor with shoes and stroll a stroller if they had a baby. You can bring in a dessert and water or pay $75 for catering or purchase food from their snack bar. We opted to bring in doughnuts and cupcakes since we had it so early. It was the perfect event location and my son had a great birthday. Note they allow to arrive 15 minutes early to setup. read more
