100% DECEPTIVE AND IRRESPONSIVE COMPANY If you are considering solar energy and hiring SUNRUN, please read my experience with this company, as well as others' at www.solarreviews.com, where SUNRUN got 1.52 points out of 5.0, from 817 customers. I have been approached by a SUNRUN employee at COSTCO and I agreed to receive a NO COST/NO COMMITMMENT consultation from SUNRUN. The next day, on April 07, 2023, a SUNRUN's Solar Consultant visited my home. He explained how solar panels worked, provided me with an initial estimate for the service, yet to be confirmed when the roof was examined, and described the next steps, if I was interested. When asked, he confirmed that all the steps were cost free and I had the right to decide if I would hire SUNRUN only after the assessment was completed and the final cost of the services were presented for my approval. In spite of that, he tried to collect a $500 deposit that I did not agree to pay. With his assurance that there was no commitment, I consented to have my roof inspected to get an accurate estimate for the service costs. To check if I qualified for the financing, I informed the consultant of the last four digits of my SSN. Without disclosing any terms, without my consent, and my knowledge, the SUNRUN consultant, from his computer, signed a service contract of $43,114.86 as well as applied for a bank loan on my behalf. I am pretty sure that this is completely illegal. I refused to sign the bank loan I received by email, and he did not insist further. The next day, I received a copy of the contract with SUNRUN, unlawfully signed by the SUNRUN consultant, without my knowledge. When I saw the contract, I immediately requested its cancellation, which I had, according to its terms, the right to do within ten days. The consultant contacted me, assuring that the contract was terminated. Suspicious of his word, a couple of hours after talking to the consultant, I called SUNRUN Customer service. This was on April 07, 2023, at 12:45 pm. ET. Then, I learned that the contract had not been cancelled, as I was told. Again, I requested the customer representative to cancel it immediately and email a confirmation of the cancellation. He said he canceled the contract and emailed me a confirmation. Two hours later, I had not received the confirmation. I called SUNRUN customer service again, around 2:45 pm. This time, the customer representative said it would take 24-48 hours to process my cancellation request. On April 10, I called SUNRUN again, and the contract had not been canceled yet. This time, the customer representative agreed to send me an email that stated that SUBRUN was still working in the cancellation, provided me a case number (108259450,) and said it would take several days to complete the process. Besides multiples calls, I have contacted Costco, wrote a letter to SUNRUN president Mary Powell, had the case escalated to the superiors of the SUNRUN's consultant who frauded me, and I simply cannot get the requested proof of cancellation of a contract with SUNRUN, that I have never signed. No one seems to care. So, the only thing I have left is to share my dreadful experience with SUNRUN in social networks, file complaints about the company, and seek legal advice. A nearby lightning strike fried the inverters in our panels eight weeks ago. someone came out a few weeks later and said that they had to order parts and that they would come and install them when they were received. we called every week for the next four weeks without getting a response. we finally got an appointment for them to come and replace the parts. they showed up a day later then they had said and they didn't have the parts so we have to wait a few more weeks for them to get the parts. hopefully read more

Very happy that we switched to solar. Unfortunately Sunrun did the installation which we thought was fine until the rain came and then we started to have roof leaks. Trying to get someone to come out was very difficult, finally a repair tech came out and tried to fix the leaks but unfortunately they continued. We reported the issue was still happening. It took 2 months a us getting a third party involved which lit a fire under the butts of SunRun, but once again they scheduled a tech which never showed and lied that they spent 2 hours at my house doing the repair unfortunately for them my wife took the day off and was home the entire day plus the 5 cameras also told the story that no one ever showed up. I never got an apology and any type of compensation for taking an unpaid day off. Now we're back to trying to get someone out to our house to fix the roof. I am writing this review on behalf of my elderly stepfather and mother in Plymouth, MA. The process of dealing with Sunrun has been difficult for them from the start. Many Sunrun blunders have occurred, but most importantly they have a signed contract for 21 solar panels and 2 inverters. They have only received 20 solar panels and 1 inverter. The installers are just there to install, so my stepfather called the company immediately and was told they would look into it but received only an apology from an unknowledgeable customer service agent. He has called on several occasions thereafter just getting the run around, "a we'll look into it" continuous response, and STILL NO answers! The panels were installed on May 12th 2022 and here it is Sept 29th 2022 and they have gotten ZERO results. Make this right, Sunrun!! read more

After the initial installation of the panels I was concerned about potential air pockets on some of the panels, after a service call from Sunrun and they got up on the roof I was told it was grease or oil from the installation crew and was told it would wash off during rain storms....after 4 rain storms & 2 snow storms (15" of wet snow was one of the storms) the panels still had these so I got up on the roof to inspect it and found that it was a black Jack sealant material. It took several trips to get warm soapy water and I gently washed the panels to remove the sealant. I did notice scratches from panels being lied down on the ground during the installation. Sunrun was not honest in addressing my concerns and I notified them several times in text, emails and phone conversations. All in all I would definitely not do another solar project with Sunrun and based on my experience I cannot recommend this company to other families considering Solar. read more

Often I am on the job and on the clock with a goal to get in, get what I need, and get out of the store as fast as possible and NOT be interrupted or have my time wasted with a TPO solar pitch. When I tell you "No, thank you." and continue with what I am doing, that is the end of our interaction to the extent that we should be interacting at all. It is not the time for a Sunrun rep to become obnoxious or aggressive. My second time sending the same message is not nearly as cordial. Our consultant has been very helpful. I have had many questions and concerns over time and he has been very responsive, straight forward and transparent.....and patient. As I do not go into these things lightly, He has had to make several trips to the house to go over my concerns/questions. I also interviewed 4 different providers before making my decision. Rives was one of the deciding factors in choosing Sunrun. We established a good rapport and were able to have a relaxed mood while also going over the intricacies of the program. I don't know if we will save a lot of money, but I think it is a good step forward for the enviornment. WORST. CUSTOMER. SERVICE. EVER. Don't return calls, don't return emails, don't respect your time. Absolutely nobody in charge. Given a date and TIME for an install that was apparently just the salesman trying to score the sale. No call, no show. No response to email. When months later they start the install with 10 hours notice, they abandon the project incomplete and have to be stalked again. "Inspections team" then take a month to respond. When cleared to hook up to utility, another delay (again no response to calls or emails). Signed my contract in March, did not go live until November. Paid my 54K plus. Now being stalked for thousands for an ongoing maintenance contract. How about I just skip the part where I make phone calls and you don't respond? read more

Sunrun was quick to get the solar panels installed. However the same day they were in stalled several outlets and over head lights in my house stopped working. I asked that they look at it. Weeks later they sent someone out who didn't call or text to let me know they were here and then they left. The next time, weeks later, that they sent a tech out he spent 45 min doing god knows what and told me he didn't know and he had to go to another job. And now it's a month after that and I can get anyone on the phone and I still don't have working outlets and over head lights. They claim that since they couldn't possibly be wrong that it's a simple coincidence that those electrical problem started the exact same day they installed a major electrical service. Zero stars! Please stay away! I currently have black mold spreading at a rapid pace INSIDE my house due to an error by the install team. I have called and written several emails and left several messages for them to fix the damage. This company and its practices remind me of the Snake Oil Salesman... SunRun being a franchise of Snake Oil representatives. Although charming and personable, the Rep provided answers to all my questions confidently and assuredly. That being said, he didn't realize that I had done my homework before he arrived and knew the reasonable answers to the questions I asked. He confidently told me that the panel efficiencies were 27%, a number I expressed surprise at, but he confidently restated the the SunRun panels were highest efdficiency in the industry. When I looked up the specs for the proposed panels, the highest efficiency was 17.7%! I also asked about the construction of the panels and was repeatedly assured they were Monocrystalline with micro Inverters, Reading the proposal and specs it clearly states two arrays with two Inverters, the arrays being Polycrystalline panels! I provided my electricity bill for the last year before the rep arrived for the 'preliminary' design. The system proposed was based on approx. 2/3 the annual kWh capacity required. I have no idea where those figures came from (the computer?) but, I do know that if the proposed system was installed I would be on the wrong side of the Net Metering proposition after the first year having to purchase ~6.5kWh from my utility to break even. Looking forward into the term of the lease I would have been in that position for the next 19 years too! I am fortunate that I read all proposals and understand all propositions before I move forward and so halted all activities with SunRun. Heaven Help the poor customer who doesn't have that rigor. read more

This initial informative meeting was quite productive and extremely positive. If we should decide to go with SunRun, I hope that the rest of the process goes as well. Salesman showed up on time, but stayed 2 hours instead of 1 because he had computer problems. Should have been a red flag, but I really am interested in solar so I signed the contract knowing I could opt out. Site visit was scheduled for following week. On the day, no one showed, no one called. I emailed the sales rep to cancel the contract, didn't hear back from him. The next day I was deeply concerned because they have a lot of my information. I reached him by phone and told him to cancel contract. He said he would but asked if I'd like to reschedule a site visit. I asked him if he thought I was insane. This brings the integerty of any company into the sewers. I can only speek to my introduction to Sunrun and the consultant who came to visit. Once the process is complete, I will follow up with the balance of my experience. I went to BJ's for a few things and was approached by Brian from SunRun. Of course, my first thought was "oh no, another sales pitch" but, I could not have been more wrong. I have always been a fan of building green and reducing my carbon footprint but the last time I inquired about solar I didn't qualify for enough rebates to make this possible. So, after a discussion with Brian, I liked his "nonpushy" style and scheduled a consultation. Ken came and was very personable but also professional and very knowledgeable. I did not feel I was being "hi pressured" into anything. He answered all my questions and I felt very comfortable moving forward. The numbers made sense and I scheduled a site review. Once done, I will know better how to proceed and can make some informed decisions. I was very happy with the way this company approached me in trying to sell their product. I'm sure I was a bit more receptive to the idea that others regarding solar but the fact that I can get solar with no money down was intriguing to me. I'll make it 5 stars if the rest of the project goes as well as it began. read more
