Just before the New Year this past winter we had Call the Bee (a plumbing company we'd used in the past) come out for a whole house main drain clog. We received a call back right away and they sent out a technician that afternoon. He was clean, courteous & upfront about the plan to clear the clog and the companies pricing. After the snake didn't clear the clog he used a camera and then a water jet to clear our line. Unfortunately the problem returned very shortly after and having lost faith that Call The Bee was able to fix our problem we called another local company. They came out same day, cleared the line and charged approximately the same price. Feeling like we shouldn't have had to have another technician out so soon and incur another charge, we reached out to Call The Bee and spoke with them. Yes, we should have given them a chance to fix the problem instead of calling another company but as I stated, we'd lost faith in them. But, we , I, was wrong. They (Call The Bee) were more than responsive to our problem. Took the time to hear us and wanted the invoice from the second company we called. Lo and behold one week later a check for the ENTIRE amount of our second plumber (slightly over $1,000) was sent to us. Call the Bee truly did all they could to rectify the situation and leave us as satisfied customers. read more

I was quoted over 4k more than what On Time in Bristol completed for me . In addition , the plumber from The Bee suggested a credit card with no interest . read more

I called call the bee upon moving into a new home. We had tried to turn the ac with no luck so we paid to have a tech come out to help us turn on and maintenance the system which we paid for a full maintenance plan upfront as the cost was just a small difference from the one time fee, assuming they could service our system. Upon evaluation, the tech suggested a full replacement, which we understood and heard him out and appreciated all the information provided it all sounded great however, the quote was significantly higher than others in the area after looking it over further so we decided not to move forward. The tech was very nice at our house however, upon leaving with no commitment from us became very overwhelming with a text that night, the following morning insisting we keep them in the loop, and a very lengthy text upon letting them know we weren't moving forward. Having work done in your home is already overwhelming but having to manage people's personalities and passive aggression that you'd like to hire to do the job or at least a future job if not this one is a whole other ballpark that homeowners probably don't need to deal with. I understand its sales, but you have to imagine clients are going to shop around and potentially not choose you for the job and try to remember you catch more bees with honey. People work hard for their money and not all want to go for the most expensive quote especially when it was the only quote they've received for a problem they just discovered and we just moved in and were not expecting a $21k out of pocket outcome in that moment. I hired Call The Bee for a $149 furnace tune-up. The Call The Bee tech did not perform the service and instead tried to pressure me into buying a nearly $20,000 replacement, claiming my system could "burst." He showed me a video of my oil pump screeching loudly and shaking to make it seem unstable. He also told me that my PSI was dangerously high. While I can't say with certainty, we believe the system may have been overfilled, raising the pressure. The second technician (from family owned company) lowered the pressure in minutes, and everything was working perfectly. When I told the Call The Bee tech I wanted a second opinion, he doubled down and kept pushing. After he left, he immediately texted me from my driveway with a long message saying, "If I needed surgery, would I go to someone cheaper?" He also stated that if I decide to buy a 20k furnace to call him directly on his cell and not the company directly. That makes me wonder if they get commission for every sale. Why would I call a technician directly? Why not the service manager? Or the office? Red flag. When a second licensed technician came out, he said the pump was screeching because the oil line had been turned off. Based on what we observed, it appears very likely that the Call The Bee tech may have shut it off--whether intentionally or through serious incompetence--then ran it and recorded the noise to scare me into a sale. He also failed to turn the oil back on, which could have ruined the furnace if I had used it that night. The second company repaired everything for $286, and the furnace now works perfectly. Every single thing the Call The Bee tech said was "broken" was untrue according to the second company. I've contacted the Connecticut Attorney General and the CT Department of Consumer Protection to investigate this situation and encourage anyone who has experienced similar pressure tactics to report it as well. I will add that my furnace is quite old, but it's working perfectly, and frankly, almost 20k for a new furnace is ridiculous. I received two quotes from reputable companies for $8-9k. Don't hesitate to contact the agencies below so this predatory behavior stops. The Call the Bee tech did take 81 pictures and videos which I would I like copies of. Call The Bee merged or took over AJP Electric this week, my notification was one day before scheduled work. I had signed estimates and assumed that the estimates would be honored but that was not the case. The technicians did quality work in spite of the fact that they had little knowledge of the job they had been sent to do. Poor management in lousy communication to customers of the change in ownership, not informing the technicians of the jobs they were to do, and not honoring the estimates from AJP Electric. The actual furnace installation was done very well -- the technicians who performed the work did a great job and I'm satisfied with the quality of the install itself. However, from start to finish, the Call The Bee and communication were very disappointing. There was a consistent lack of follow-through, poor communication after the install, and unfortunately I was given inaccurate information multiple times. I chose this company because of its high ratings, but my personal experience with Call The Bee did not match what I expected. Quality work on the install -- but communication, honesty, and accountability seriously need improvement. Recommended by a friend and SO glad I made the call! Let's face it, plumbing is costly, so if you have to pay, you want it to be worth the price and done right the first time. We had intermittent backup in the plumbing in our 64 year old house. The Bee came and checked things out later in the same day. Using a camera, the plumbers found (and showed me the video) of a partially caved in Clay pipe that was the main out of our house. Two days later, fixed! Turns out when the house was switched from septic to city, the plumber, (mid 1990s) used the WRONG clamp! And the inspector? Where was he/she to point that out? Who knows! But the homeowner pays the price. They viewed the rest of the pipe to the main sewer and all is well!! Timely, knowledgeable, respectful of our property, friendly, answered all my questions, put the lawn back in good shape, sent pictures to the city of the old shoddy job and their repair. Expensive and careless. The company charged over $1,000 to disconnect two sinks. They had us over a barrel because the kitchen counters were being replaced the next day and the counter people required the sinks to be removed by plumbers. The work took about an hour, some of which was devoted to creating the invoice. They left the drain pipes open, allowing toxic sewer gas to accumulate in the kitchen. The next plumber - much more reasonable - was shocked by that carelessness. I called twice requesting to speak to a manager, or the owner, but never got a call back except from the technician, who had no ability to address my issues. read more

Service - great customer service and support. Get on that member plan if you want to use them yearly. Responsive techs and office is friendly and helpful. Pricing - very high. Recently had a boiler checked for yearly maintenance, got sold on over $4k worth of repairs. Had another small hvac company come and check it out, less than $500 repair recommended. Replaced AC units (2) with them last year, still paying that off (over $22k). Bottom line: good service but you will pay a lot of money. This company installed tandem water heaters for us during a new build. They were neat and clean and professional. The building department was tough and required a number of tweaks to the install. Our point people in management had zero fire under them to finish the job honorably; getting these guys to come back, do the work and carry the job through inspection has proven to be a nightmare. It really is a shame as the workers themselves are wonderful, but management is really terrible. Emails and texts unanswered and getting the runaround, and my new build cannot get a certificate of occupancy without these guys getting this permit closed. Do NOT recommend. read more

Normally I am not motivated to write a review because I believe it's a waste of time, but I sincerely hope people read this before doing business with this company. I will begin by stating, I do not blame the workers/technicians. They did good work and overall it was a decent experience working with them. Even their sales representatives were pleasant and not pushy. The workers for this company are definitely what keeps this business afloat because I would contact them directly for help if it was possible. Management is extremely incompetent. All I requested from them was to update an invoice to accurately reflect the work they did and ended up having to berate the individual to do the simplest task after waiting six months! Their ineptitude was astounding, they tried to say they couldn't write down the specific unit that THEY INSTALLED because of liability which was the most asinine response I have ever heard. I had to define what a receipt/invoice was to these people for them to understand that it is THEIR job to provide an accurate account for the services paid. They finally recognized their error and resolved the issue after much push back. Terrible customer service from their management and shady business tactics if you struggle to complete the most rudimentary of business documents accurately--a receipt/invoice. Extremely Disappointed I have Called the Bee in the past and was pleased with the service and value. I scheduled an appointment to clear a clogged shower drain and slow draining bathroom sink. The original service was delayed for 2 days for perfectly reasonable reasons. The technician showed up on time for what should have been a routine call, maybe 1.5 to 2 hours being very generous. The quote totaled over $600 for clearing 2 drains manually. The jet clean was over $900 with tax. I could have sent him home and be out the initial $90 booking fee. Given our situation, I agreed to the manual cleaning. My choice. Just letting everyone here know what there pricing model currently looks like for a relatively routine service call/appointment. The technician was pleasant and professional. Unfortunately, his employer did not equip him with the necessary tools to carry out this job in a timely and efficient manner. The manual snake did not clear the shower drain completely. He the went to the truck to use a scope which was not charged, and only had the usb cable. I had to supply the wall plug. After 45 minutes of his standing outside with a colleague he returned with a power snake, abandoning the scope completely. Initially he could not get it to work and had to consult his colleague on the proper operation of the device. Finally the drain was cleared. Turning his attention the bathroom sink, he announced that he did not have the proper tool and would need to return tomorrow. I explained that we were already delayed and he graciously apologized and went back to the shop for the proper sized tool. Finally, after 5 hours, the job was complete, resulting in missed and rescheduled appointments. The technician was unable to process my credit card payment twice. The second time he called me 30 minutes after the job to come out and process again. The second attempt showed the transaction was approved. I received a call this morning indicating that the second attempt failed and I need to pay yet again. I expressed my displeasure with the service and he indicated he would leave a message for someone to call me. I am awaiting that call. I fault the technician only in that his employer, Call the Bee, did not give him the proper tools and guidance to carry out his job. Be wary of Call the Bee's ability to properly staff and equip technicians. This is not the service and value that I have known and was expecting based on my experience. Called on a Sunday because there was a bad oder in the downstairs area getting worst for past few days. Of course google search gave me the worst possible scenario; it was possibly a dangerous leak from HVAC unit. I called 3 other services because I was nervous that it was a serious problem. Call The Bee actually called me back the same day on a Sunday and had a technician come out Monday at 8am to check it out ! Found that mold was growing in the ac vent and area that brought the air in. Although any kind of mold removal is always expensive it was necessary. They were able to service the area the same week Wednesday and recommended an air purifier. The smell is gone and we feel safer knowing the air is healthier. Technicians Clayton and Declan were amazing!! Very professional,quick and efficient, patiently answered all my questions, left the area they worked clean. The vents look amazing and clean and smell like lemons ! We were very impressed with them and the company. We would definitely recommend them and call them for any future needs. Their install is great, their honesty and up keep are lacking. We had installed AC, Heat, boiler, tankless water heater, and whole house filter. They state all you have to do is have us replace it when we do your spring and winter check up. Instead they quoted $355 to change a filter and also what they don't tell you is it cost $800 every year to drain the boiler - "because its a cadillac of a boiler" this is something they do not tell you at time of install. Always get a second opinion! I requested service for my air conditioner, which suddenly stopped cooling my house. The Call the Bee technician arrived on time, and after inspecting the unit and running some diagnostics, he informed me that the refrigerant level was very low, which indicated that there was a leak. Since the unit had been working just fine so far this season, it was probably a large leak. He provided me with three options verbally: first, add a sealant to refrigerant for around $1,000, which was not recommended based on large leak hypothesis. Second option was to find the leak, at a cost over $3,000 (assuming that finding the one leak would solve the problem); this was presented as a risky gamble for 20 year old system, where there might be multiple leaks. The third and recommended option was to replace my system with 2.5 ton new system for between $16,000 and $19,000. I had another technician come, who stated the refrigerant level was a little low, but at an acceptable level, tested and replaced the capacitor, and for a few hundred dollars my problem was solved! No leaks to ferret out, no need for a new unit. In my opinion, the Call the Bee technician was either unqualified (did not test that all components were working, did not know what level of refrigerant was acceptable) or misleading (framed the problem to point to the solution best for his firm, not for the customer). Hard to see any other possibility. read more

Joey came out and I am 200 percent pleased with him getting to the bottom line of why my central air conditioning (installed less than five years ago) was not working. It's a long story, but he walked in and guaranteed me he would figure it out lol. That's passion!!! He did...it was actually minor, however, there is more work to be done...and that's because the prior company did not do their due diligence. So, I would recommend this company and Joey was just awesome in how he explained everything...he was so thorough...he sent pictures and this was a glass half full situation for me! Thanks Busy Bee!
