I am such a perfectionist that I would probably hate to have me as a client... Or at least I would occasionally roll my eyes as I walked in - errrr you know what I mean. However, Dona was so sweet and patient and checked in with me all the way through such that I loved the end results of my gel nails!!! If I felt a sparkle was a couple millimetres off, she would move it to where I wanted with a smile on her face. LOVE HER! So, even though this place is out of the way for me and there's not much for ambience there, whenever I go back to Calgary and want to get gel nails, this will be the place for me. read more

I went here 1.5 weeks ago to get a gel set and a pedicure. It was the worst experience ever. One hand was meh and the other hand looked like a completely different person had done them. They were horrible. They grinded at my cuticles with the drill causing bleeding. Did not cut them back and even built the nails on top of my cuticle. One hand was thin. The other one was so think with large lumps in them. They had to put tips on, and one hand was equal and the other hand the tips didn't even fully cover my nails. I literally had to go to a different spa today to have them completely redone. Oh and my pedicure was not good at all. The one who did my gel set barely spoke to me and every time I pointed out something I didn't like I just got a push off saying "I fix, I fix" and I had to ask a number of times and in the end didn't really get fixed anyway. The pedicure tech didn't speak English at all the and paint job was a total botch job. The nail tech I saw today at another spa said she had never seen gel nails grind off so easily without any resistance. She even thought at one point it may of been shellac and tried soaking it but it wasn't shellac. Figured it was probably just a very cheap gel that in her experience had never come across before. Never ever would I recommend this place. Not only did I have to go and get my nails completely redone. I didn't even feel like going back to this place and having them redo them, Cus of how much they pushed me off while I was there, I felt how the heck would they even honour their work and redo them. So in 1.5 weeks I paid over $200 just to get what I should of originally got In the first place. Huge disappointment! read more

Best shellac manicure I've had in a long while. Clean, comfortable and bright salon. The estheticians are friendly and happy. The pedicure I had was also wonderful and the esthetician was careful around my sensitive feet. I will definitely be back and it's great to find a place that will colour match shellac nails with regular polish toes ( I think it's just the brand they carry, but it's still nice). read more

I went in for a pedicure today with a friend. I had never heard of Sunsational but found them when searching in the Internet for a good place to get nails done. The man that greeted us was very friendly. He took our jackets and let us pick out our nail colors. They have a good selection of colors for your painting needs. We sat in their delightful massage chairs. The man came around offering bottled water or coffee. While we were soaking our feet he came around with cookies. I can't get over how nice he was, not creepy nice, just friendly nice. The ladies that did our pedicures were very nice and didn't interrupt our conversation like some people do. They did a great job, my feet are silky and my nails look great. I asked if I could use the yelp check-in coupon when I was getting ready to pay. He mentioned it was expired but said he let us use it anyways. The pedi came to $29 with the discount, I was not expecting it to be that cheap. This was a great experience and I will be going back soon. read more

Not pleased with the sneaky upsale. I haven't had nails for years and I wanted to treat myself. I wanted acrylic but apparently "acrylic" sounds like UV gel with shellac. They started with acrylic tips and I'd never had gel before so I didn't know what they were doing until it was too late. Wasn't pleased with the gel nails either - super thick and they were totally skimpy with the nail colour. I will never again get gel nails and I certainly won't be back where I don't get what I asked for in the first place. They completely ignored what I asked for and put the most expensive nail service they have on me. It wasn't until I paid that I knew exactly what service I had received. Not impressed! read more

I made an appointment to get a full set of gel nails here on the advice of my friend who goes to Sunsational all the time. I made an appointmet for 5 pm over the phone a few days in advance with a specific nail tech. I arrived about 5 minutes early for my appointment and was seated at a nail station immediately, however I had to wait 30 minutes for the techinician because she was in the middle of another client. They apologized numerous times for making me wait, but offered no explanation as to what happened. I was happy with my nails though and decided to book a fill appointment to give them a second chance. I booked my appt for Sunday at 11:am (which is when they say they open on Sundays) so I could be the first appointment of the day. I arrived at 10 minutes to 11 and the pace was full of people already in the middle of services, so I am not sure when they open. Again, I was seated right away and then waited 20 minutes for my technician to finish another client. When she got to my station she apologized again, which now means nothing and started my fill. She was in such a hurry this time that she burnt me while she was filing my nails, and filed the end right off one of my nails and had to add another tip, and took a big chunk out of another. My nails look fine, but the customer service is bad and it is quite dissapointing so do not reccomend this place and will not be going back read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I paid for my sister to get her nails done here & they all were chipped & popping off with in a week which has never happened before. She's very careful. The ladies were eating, farting, picking their butts the entire time we were there it was disgusting. When they overcharged us majorly ($60 for acrylic nails with no shellac) we came back and asked if they would please give us a refund. Instead the lady said it was all our fault & refused to refund it. Every time we asked to speak with a manager they said their wasn't one so finally after 20 minutes of arguing we left & I left my number. They assured me the manager would call ASAP. He has never called & when I called back and asked to speak with him they once again said he wasn't there. These ladies will scam any innocent girl out of a few bucks. Sad they took advantage of my 15 year old sister. I am disgusted by this place & personally think the place needs to be shut down. read more

I just got a pedicure from here, and it was excellent. They have a good nail polish colour selection which has lots of trendy options (blues, greens, yellows etc., not just red and pink options that my grandma would get). The pedicure lasted an hour (incl drying time) and the lady who was doing it was very thorough and attentive, and kept checking with me whether the water temp was okay, whether I liked the colour, etc. I like that they have the nail drying machines. The cost of the pedicure was about $36 + tip, which I thought was a great deal. I will be back for sure. read more

I came in with a photo of the simple nail design I wanted but with a slightly different shade of colour than the photo, and had a very hard time explaining this to the three people trying to help me. I eventually just gave up and compromised on a glitter for my nails because they just didn't understand. When it came time to do the nail art, I had to ask the lady to re-do it numerous times because it looked horrible each time. I eventually compromised with that and gave up because I was so annoyed and had wasted my time there. I ended up removing the nails that night because they looked like something a child would get. The nails also came off very easily. Unless you're going to get one shade, I would not recommend this place to any kind of nail art or design. Not Impressed and will not return. read more

This place is wonderful! It is bright, conveniently located and SUPER clean, and it's hard to find salons that are 3/3. The staff are cheerful and laid back, and will chat with you if you're there on your own. I called ahead to make a pedicure appointment for today and they said no need, just come on in. I got there and was immediately greeted by the nice guy from the previous review, who showed me around and brought me a bottle of water. The girl who did my pedi was very sweet, extremely tidy and smiled throughout the entire treatment. I work on my feet and walk everywhere, and her foot massage was so relieving! My feet feel amazing and my toenails are gorgeous. It was also a good deal at $40, well worth it as I have had $65 pedis that left me much less satisfied. Highly recommended! read more

One star is given as they properly cleaned out my cuticle as requested ($5.00 charge) . Came in on November 5th 2018 for an appointment made for two gel nail fills. The original lady that took me in cleaned out my cuticle and shaped/file my nails as usual. When we moved to the gel application step, normally a thin layer is put on before a thicker gel is put and shaped. During that second step, when applying a thicker gel layer, she had missed a spot on the corner of my left index nail. Worried that it will compromised the strength of my nail, I pointed out to her that my nail is missing that gel. I was then told to not worry as the she will make it even. I am not concerned about the evenness after she file, but having different thickness will not hold until my next appointment. I guess my nail lady did not like to be told that she is wrong and as she speaks in her mother tongue, she left without saying anything before completing my nails. A different lady came to finish her job. The shape of my nails look great, but I am distraught that I was treated so poorly. This is not the first time I have been in the Salon; we are a return customer. The second lady kept filing the bottom and sides of my nails as she shapes them and now my gel nails are spread so thin that I am able to bend few of my nails easily with the gel on which should not even be possible. On Thursday, November 8th 2018, I called Sunsational to question their work and asked to speak with a Supervisor/Owner and was told they are not available. I have requested a call back to receive a full refund as they are damaging my nails which could potentially lead to them breaking completely, leaving me injured. I came here with a few days before my wedding to get a shellac manicure for the big day. I booked 4 manicures for my Mom, Nana, a friend and myself. They were able to accommodate the 4 of us and we all started at the same time on time, which was wonderful. From the moment you walk in until the end of your appointment you are treated greatly. I found a certain design for my nails which I am sure it is probably something they don't see often and they were able to design my nails the EXACT same as the pictures I had shown, they looked beautiful! The price is really good for the service as well. We all left satisfied, with pretty and refreshing manicures. I would definitely go back! read more

I got my nails done today and they are awful. They are already lifting up and bubbling. I also have paint all under my nails and all over my skin. It looks like a child did my nails. 4 hours after getting them done and I already have to get them redone. Not the first time this has happened to me at this salon either. My husband bought my mom and I gift cards for a shellac manicure and pedicure (paid 75$) following the treatment, they told my mom hers was only a shellac manicure not manicure and pedicure, even though that's what my husband paid for. They made her pay the extra. They need to make sure they can write their own gift cards properly. I also got a wart on my finger shortly after visiting this place. I tried this salon based off the amazing Yelp reviews, but sadly was not impressed. While the girl who did my UV gel fill was very nice and did a fairly good job, after only a week 3 of them have cracked. In my opinion, this shows that the quality of either the UV gel product or the work is very poor, especially considering that the gel nails I had beforehand (done at a different salon) had lasted 6 weeks without any of them cracking. In addition I was charged $40 ($42 with tax), even though after rechecking the website the posted price for a UV gel fill is $35. read more
