Earlier in the afternoon, I asked the Internet where to find the best sunset in the area and it sent me to the aptly named Sunset Beach here in Tarpon Springs. That was absolutely the right call and since it was such a clear afternoon, it worked out very well. The beach is at the end of a narrow causeway and at the end is a decent sized parking area with a pavilion that has picnic space, a proper beach and even restrooms. There was plenty of parking on this early Spring evening and I had no problems with the Sprinter van. Walking out to the pavilion was easy as it is paved and completely handicapped accessible. Super windy and a little crowded with about 100 people who had the same idea as I did. Some of the more mature folks had cleverly brought chairs which was the right move. Departing took a bit as most weren't interested in staying after the sun went down. Like me! The roads do lead to here but it's not easy. Trust your GPS and take the first parking space you spot. This beach is absolutely gorgeous and I found it on Tripadvisor and glad I did. There was plenty of parking however I can imagine this being so popular. It gets busy on the weekends. I read online that dogs are not allowed, but I came here and left my dog in the car until I noticed many people did bring their dogs out on the beach.

There's something truly special about Sunset Beach. It's small and quiet, but intimate and charming. One of my favorite things about our little town is how everyone gathers here in the evenings to watch the sunset--it's such a beautiful, shared experience. The beach has clean bathrooms, a playground, a boat launch, and plenty of free parking, which makes it easy and family-friendly. They also host sunset movie nights, which I've heard are a must-do. Whether you're a local or just visiting, Sunset Beach is the perfect spot to slow down and soak it all in.

The name of this beach says it all. This is a nice place to come and watch the sunset. There are a number of benches available if you don't happen to have your own chairs or forgot to being a beach towel. This place is mainly visited by local residents and is not a touristy spot. You will not find sugar white sand here and as it is located on the inner coastal side, seashell hunting will be somewhat limited. There are times this location can get crowded but most of the time there is usually plenty of room, at the entrance there are several places to have a picnic with bbq pits, and the restrooms are well maintained. In closing, this is not were I would come to enjoy the water, or look for seashells. It is however, one of our favorite spots to watch the sunset.

Great beach if you want to feel like you're at the beach without having the full beach experience. If you're looking for a nice, sandy beach, this ain't it. It reminds me of a lake more than a beach. My cousins chose this beach to spend our Memorial Day get together because of the grills, picnic tables, and shaded areas. We had a pretty big group and not everyone wanted to go in the water. Plus, we all brought food and my cousins wanted to cook. My family of four loves the beach and were a little disappointed at this particular one. We were excited to lay out and play in the sand all day and even came prepared with beach chairs, toys, and accessories. After about an hour we were ready to go. The beach area has a lot of seaweed. I'm not sure if smoking is prohibited, maybe not yet at the time, because we saw a few people smoking. As expected, it was packed on MDW. Parking was a bit challenging but we managed. If it were up to me (and not my extended family), I wouldn't return.

There aren't really any bad beaches but certainly we can all agree some beaches are better than others, I personally think this beach would be better described as a great location to watch the sunset and less about the beach. I love the beaches on the Gulf Coast of Florida but location is everything - anytime the word "silt" is mentioned when a beach is discussed it raises a flag for me and I immediately lower my expectations and I also make sure I bring an extra pair of flop-flops to walk through the muck to get to the water. The parking lot here is awesome being it's a very short walk from anywhere you park to the water, although there's probably never enough parking at any beach I think the number of parking spaces aligns well with the size of this beach. The interior of this small peninsula is filled with sand, small palm trees and benches that are scattered throughout this small area, the entrance to the water is surrounded by a number of larger rocks that can become slippery and may be a challenge for some to navigate (silt promotes algae growth and weeds). The water is warm and clear this time of the year and it's easy to see the rocks that emerge from the silty sand but there are many hidden rocks as well so I choose to wear flip-flops or water shoes. I don't want to paint a negative picture, I just don't want you to think this is a sugar sand patch of paradise - if you just want to catch some rays and stake out a small claim near the water this is probably a place you'll love but don't expect to jump up from your beach towel and run out into the water unobstructed, it's more of a stand up and find a path to walk out into the water type of place. As far as a place to watch the sunset this is a great destination, but if you're still driving here 10 minutes before the sunsets you're gonna miss the event. If your intention is to merely to watch the sun disappear into the water come early and hangout and you'll be rewarded...

This is a lovely park with accessible beach. There is a lot of parking, but it can fill to capacity for the sunset. This beach also has a Free Little Library, for exchanging books to read. There are picnic tables, if you forget chairs and tables. A volleyball net was being used for sport, even though a sign said no organized sports. A nearby pavilion was used by young children doing summersaults. For the sunset, you can sit or stand on the beach. You can sit in your own chair. Several benches are available on the beach or in the concrete before the beach. It is much cooler here than in town, so we enjoyed the breezes. It wasn't very crowded, and there is no admission fee. Palm trees were all over the place, adding shade & atmosphere. Since most every stranger is 6 feet apart, we felt it was not necessary to wear our masks. There are bathrooms, water fountains, and a playground, too! Very nice place to hang out!

Sunset beach is a beautiful place to catch of course the sunset. The beach park has a nice playground area for the kids when they are tired of the water and a nice pavilion right on the beach for those who need to stay out of the sun or for that family get together. There are also vending machines, restrooms, and showers. Yay for showers to wash off the sand before getting in your car. The beach is located at the southern tip of Treasure Island. It has some great history with adventures awaiting.

Great little neighborhood beach park that is perfect for paddle boarding, kite surfing and wind boarding. They have a public boat ramp with immediate access to the Gulf. It offers numerous first come-first serve pavilions, clean public restrooms and the occasional food and ice cream truck. There is plenty of parking but the lot does fill up quickly especially on weekends. The water itself offers plenty of wildlife for those of you brave enough to venture out on or in the water. On this trip alone I saw several giant rays, a gazillion tropical fish, and one rather curious manatee. In the summer they typically have live music playing right on the beach. Nice small beach as an alternative to some of the super crazy ones in the area l. Nice breezes and dolphins tend to come and play there regularly which is an incredible happy thing to see for me! Get there early to find a parking spot and keep it clean so we can continue to park for free. read more

While staying on Clearwater Beach my husband and I visited Fred Howard Park, Honeymoon Island, Caladesi park, Sand Key Park, and Indian Rocks Beach all in an effort to find the perfect private and quiet beach. Though this isn't that beach, that would be Caladesi, it is very nice. The amenities include a place to launch sail boats and kayaks, playground, picnic tables, volleyball court, updated bathrooms kept pretty clean, pavilions, outdoor showers and a decent amount of free parking. This is perfect for families with small children because there is shallow water surrounding the island for swimming, mangroves for nature watching, wide sandy areas for play, and the kids will enjoy spotting hermit crabs and minnows in the water. We did enjoy sitting on a bench listening to the water lap onto the shore. Weekday in November so it was pretty quiet. read more

The beach and swimming area are definitely not up to Clearwater Beach or St. Pete Beach standards, but this is a nice little area to kick back and relax on the water, launch a paddleboard, powerboat or sail craft, and there is a playground, volleyball net, outdoor showers to get some of the sand off, restrooms and a water fountain. There are nice views over the gulf, of the Tarpon coastline and area islands. You can also look over to the other Tarpon beach park just across the way.. There was no parking fee when I was there and finding a spot wasn't a problem. Getting here takes a lot of twists and turns but Tarpon has some lovely neighborhoods. So take your time and enjoy the ride. :) Downtown Tarpon has some nice eateries and shopping, alt 19 too and of course there are the sponge docks for Greek fare all nearby. Ozona and Dunedin are also fun. Have a great time. :) read more

Excellent viewing spot for sunsets, but get out there early and grab a front row seat. The rednecks out there DGAF about the photos you're going to snap and will plop down right in front of you and ruin your shot. The beach is small, but is a family and neighborhood type spot, so don't expect Treasure Island or Redington type vibes out here. It's not that kind of place, and anyone who can read a map should know that before heading out. Plenty of bathrooms and trashcans, so the area is kept up pretty well. read more

Great small beach spot, open to the public and free (limited) parking. Restrooms are okay- general park style that smell all the time- and we're pretty dirty. No shower área, but does have one wash off station in parking lot that is still in the sand. So not the best work space to get kids ready to jump in car. Loved the small area though, perfect for a quiet morning of beach time with two kids. Not busy at all and just enough sand area to enjoy without getting lost in the crowds. Would definitely recommend for a quiet beach trip. read more

Beautiful beach be the water is absolutely exquisite. It's a little small so I'm sure it gets busy in the summer but I was there in January so it was almost empty. There are a lot of birds to watch, a sand volleyball court, playground, fire pit, restrooms, gazebo, and lending library as well. read more

This is a must see!!!! Everytime we come to visit my parents we stop by here. Such a nice calm relaxing slice of the beach. It snever super packed which is great. And there is nothing lile seeing the sun set from the west coast. Its breathtaking! Google the time of the sunset for the day your going to be sure not to miss it. And after the sun sets stay another 20 min. Its get even more beautiful after half the people leave thinking its over. You wont regret it. This is also a great daytime spot. You can swim or fish or tan or just simply walk barefoot. read more

This is a great place to hang out with friends, launch kayaks and paddle boards, etc. The bathrooms are clean and people are friendly here. The sunsets here are spectacular. You will be pleased if you come here to enjoy the natural beauty here in Tarpon Springs. read more

This is a great little beach for events, but not a great sunbathing or silky sand beach much like all the beaches as you get up towards Tarpon Springs. As the water gets deeper and you lose the sandbars, the beaches get a bit muddy and rocky--but the atmosphere and amenities more than make up for it. Sunset beach is very self-contained, making it great for larger groups, and has large pavilions and covered picnic areas available. There's more than enough sand and surf to get your beach fill, and off the beaten track enough that you won't feel crowded out of paradise. If you're in the area or looking for an event site, this place is a perfect little park tucked away at the end of a peninsula. read more

This is a great, quiet beach to spend time on the weekends to relax of have a barbecue or picnic. There was plenty of area to swim or fish without being surrounded by other people. It doesn't have the nicest beach to swim in, but for a day to relax or spend time with family is perfect. They also had volley ball nets and pavilions for shade read more

The water is great and super clear. It's a very small beach compared to some others in the area but it's quiet and there's plenty of shade. There's just not so much sand and a lot of plant debris on the sand. It looks like a great place to fish too. Tarpon Springs as a whole is a very nice place to visit! read more

Beautiful......this beach reminds me of a Carribean Island. Palm trees on the beach if you want to have a shady spot. There are picnic tables throughout and parking is adequate. A lovely dat to spend the day and watch the sunset. read more

I am visiting Port Richey and am wanting to take a walk on beach late 1 night before I leave. Some say 24 hour but are gated, some say no dry sand but you can be in wet sand. Does anyone know a public access spot for this?

My pup and I stayed in our car while my husband went to check the water. It was a good reminder why we don't go to this beach. Unfortunately, this was the day of the craziness in Clearwater with the teen takeover with all the chaos.

The pinellas county sherrifs boat and Coast Guard boat passes by to make sure people are keeping the rules in check. A ton of boats will pull up here but not that many people will walk the island due to the alcohol rules. There is an ice cream boat with a sign that says "Ice Cream Boat that comes by here and other neighboring island offering ice cream. They had a cool Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle ice cream bar. The biggest party island in the area is the North Key Sand Bar next door but it's further out so most people choose to dock here!

It is, at most, a seaweed and muck infested small shoreline that once had a defaced and rickety pier you could hang out on which unfortunately for the locals was destroyed by Hurricane Milton. Good luck finding any good parking too; Nothing is clearly outlined and it's mostly dirt roads. If you live near it or are looking for a park to hang out on, go ahead and enjoy it. But if it's a beach day you're planning for? I'd advise not to come here; Crystal "Beach" is nothing but an over-glorified park, so to even call it a beach is just downright insulting.

The dog park area is new & very nice thou if you have dogs. There is three different runs sectioned off, one for small dogs, one for large dogs & one for the med sized dogs.

We peddled out a little ways and then let the current drift us for a while and just took in gorgeous scenery. It was extremely relaxing. I imagine on a busy day it is pretty crowded, but we lucked out and there were not many rentals in the water. You can see the bottom of the water and occasionally a fish would jump out to remind you that you are not alone. There were a few birds fishing too. I would highly recommend this spot if you are looking for some fun and relaxation. Try them out!

It is also incredibly packed, but I think that's also because there is a sports complex here and I'm assuming many younger kids are here playing on the playground while older ones play sports. The upside is that it's still a public playground and an outdoor activity for kids. There are bathrooms in the playground area so that's a convenience.

This beach allows women to walk around and extremely disgusting thongs. Nobody wants to go to a beach and see somebody's flabby butt. This is supposed to be for families. I love this little gem of a beach. I like that it is public yet it has a private beach feel to it. You can BBQ, picnic or just soak up the sun. Plenty of space for the little ones. The playground is situated in the middle of the picnic grounds. I love it. read more
