I'm glad I went, but after seeing it for myself, I realized it's just not my kind of beach. The water was calm, families were happily swimming and letting their kids play, so it's clearly a place that a lot of locals enjoy. Just know that this is a natural Gulf Coast beach, so the water isn't crystal clear, and in some areas there's a soft, muddy bottom beneath the sand that you can feel as you walk. It did have its own charm in how peaceful and unhurried it felt. The boardwalk through the mangroves adds to the experience, and you might spot dolphins, manatees, stingrays, pelicans, herons, and other coastal birds. Sharks are part of the Gulf ecosystem, and although alligators are uncommon at this saltwater beach, they do occasionally wander into coastal areas from nearby freshwater habitats. Even though it wasn't the postcard-perfect beach I was looking for, I'm still glad I took the time to see it for myself.

The team that maintains the beach and all areas that are connected to it Do a GREAT job maintaining the sand as well as the bathrooms and parking area, as for the guard staff i have never had a problem with them (But i am polite and non-confrontational) and that is what I get back from them, One of the Best events at the beach and is open to all is Easter Morning sunrise service put on by Sprit of Grace church every easter for over twenty years there is over 400 people that come and boats anchor just offshore to be at the service. and it is always up lifting. Didn't see any wild flamingos there. As a matter of fact didn't see any wildlife there at all. As it's really just a dog park with some trails to walk your dogs. Not a great place to take photos. The dog park area is new & very nice thou if you have dogs. There is three different runs sectioned off, one for small dogs, one for large dogs & one for the med sized dogs.

I was personally a bit nervous since I hadn't paddle boarded much before, but every step of the way we felt supported and truly cared for. Hearing about the family's passion for protecting the ecosystem and the manatees, along with all the helpful tips they shared to optimize our experience, was absolutely incredible. When we got to the dock, we were guided so kindly - Mike even held our shoes in his truck for us! When he noticed me struggling a bit, he took the time to give me multiple tips on how to better move in the water and maneuver the board, which made such a difference. We saw so many manatees, including mama and baby pairs, which was unforgettable. When we returned to the dock and shared how excited we were, Mike went above and beyond once again by recommending another nearby location we could walk to where we ended up seeing even more manatees up close and personal. We rented paddle-boards for 3 hours to go visit Three Sister Springs at the Crystal River Wildlife Refuge, and it did NOT disappoint! You cannot swim at Three Sister Springs unless you arrive by watercraft as the refuge is protected, so going on an adventure via paddle-board was a nice relaxing way to explore the area. We saw multiple manatees and even got to swim with them when they came in the refuge (SUCH A COOL EXPERIENCE)! The coolest thing about the manatees was how much trust they put in the people visiting their home. There was a mom and calf swimming right up to people, and I thought how cool it was that she put that much trust into her surroundings as to show off her baby. I highly recommend checking out this company next time you're visiting the area!
