I've taken agility classes at several facilities over the years, and training out of a home-based center like this can be an absolute gem when you understand how they operate. My experience here was positive, professional, and very dog-centered. This is not a big-box operation with a front desk staff answering phones all day, it's a working training facility run by someone who is actively teaching, training, and managing dogs. Because of that, communication may not be instant, but when I did hear back my questions were answered clearly and honestly. The class requirements (including bringing a crate) are there for very good reasons: safety, structure, and creating a calm learning environment for the dogs. Anyone who has done agility before knows how important that is. I appreciated that the facility prioritizes the dogs' well-being over convenience. The instruction itself was thoughtful and intentional, and it was obvious that a lot of care goes into how classes are run. If you're looking for a knowledgeable trainer who runs a small, focused program and truly cares about the dogs in her classes, this is a great place to train. Chris at Sunset is just an absolutely wonderful and knowledgable trainer! She will not tell you about it unless you ask her but she has won a National Agility Championship in her dogs class before.. She is kind and very good with all the dogs she works with ad so encouraging and patient with the owners of the dogs.. I cannot recommend working with her more strongly. This facility is one of the best I have seen! after 5 1/2 years of experience I can say with complete confidence that Sunset Hills allows for growth with a comfortable learning environment.
