I've had several vets over the years. I settled on Stone Ridge for the following reasons: 1. Their combined experience is unmatched. Livestock, pets, they've seen it all. 2. Their clinical approach. Look, as pet parents-caretakers-owners-etc, we all have our biases and expectations. The team here is diverse. There's at least one who gets you and will tailor your animal's care. 3. Convenience. I've never had to wait more than a few days to meet with a vet and they do make accommodations for emergencies... though those are best left to Pet ERs. 4. My often nervous pitbull loves going. Seriously. What dog ever likes going to the vet? They treat her so well and keep everyone safe. They even make special accommodations on especially busy and chaotic days when I'm sure those in the waiting room could do without a pitbull meltdown. Which is awesome considering we go monthly for allergy treatments. No vet is perfect and they're certainly not omniscient. A good relationship requires communication and knowledge about any changes in your pet's behavior or physical condition. Follow up any recommendations with probing questions about side effects, alternatives, etc. The vet doesn't know what you don't know. To them, this is all old hat. Allow them to bring you up to speed and get involved with your animal's care. Ps. I love Dr. Cunningham. He always leads with the inexpensive folk remedies but knows his stuff on the latest and greatest medications. read more

This is the absolute worst veterinary clinic ever! Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this business as possible. I went in for a second opinion consultation on a minor issue with my dog. After an hour past my appointed time, I was finally called into the exam room. The doctor and assistant finally arrived, and I explained the situation. I was told they could perform the procedure but it would be costly because anesthesia would be required. The doctor looked over my dog quickly, and then the update began. I was told that she would at some point have issues with her left knee. So they could do the paw nail issue and the knee at the same time, saving me from paying for anesthesia twice. But the cost of that was 3 times the cost of the initial procedure. I said I would think about it, and the assistant took us back out to the front reception area. I asked to write down the pricing of the 2 procedures and gave her my credit card. She came back with the document, gave me back my card, and we left. 3 months later I start to get calls from this clinic claiming I owed them for the visit. I told them they had my card and that I had paid. This went on over and over again, no one ever telling me how much I owed, me saying I paid, and they would look into it. Then the threat of collections came, finally with the amount in question. I contacted my bank and there was never a charge from them to my card. So why did they have my card but never charge it? I paid in cash, got a receipt, and left. I will never go back. They are like used car dealerships. Always trying to upsell and add additional charges. There are much better places to take your pet. Any other place would be better than this place. read more

Absolutely terrible! We took our dog in for a teeth cleaning and "signed off" on what was needed. $400 in hidden fees later, we regretted having ever taken her there. It took six hours to get around to doing the cleaning, and when I went to pick her up, it took another 45 minutes of my waiting around before anybody could be bothered to bring her up to the front. I have never been so disrespected by the techs when I told them the cost was 50% more than what they quoted, I was called a liar. Do yourself a favor and steer clear! EDIT: As if to prove my point, the comment below is a complete fabrication. I was completely calm during my entire time at the vet. I didn't scream at the tech, and my wife was beside herself when I told her what the cost was going to be. The prices given to her were NOT what we ended up being charged. We have used them for years. My dogs love going here and we use all their services from veterinary care to boarding. The grooming is their favorite they always come home looking amazing and smelling wonderful. My golden is high maintenance and they take such good care of him. read more

We take our 3 dogs to Stone Ridge. Dr Cannon is the best. He takes the time to explain and answer questions. The only concern is sometimes we have had to wait several hours from our appointment time. Sometime the staff communicates on why the wait and follows up with us on the delay. Other times the staff totally forgets even when they see see you sitting in the waiting room for over an hour and will not make eye contact. Everyone understands emergencies but communication is key. Overall: Dr Cannon cares and loves all his patients. read more

Dr. Cannon has been our veterinarian for the last 3 yrs. He is genuinely concerned with our pets health. He is kind and gentle, his staff is always friendly. We have had our Toby since he was born in Feb 2007. He had some health issues the last few yrs. and required frequent visits, Stone Ridge Vet. pricing was so much more reasonable compared with other vets we used in the past. Unfortunately our Toby need to be euthanized on Nov 29th. Dr. Cannon was so caring, gentle and respectful of Toby and us as his family. While we were in the office, they gave us a beautiful keepsake shadow box with a lock of Toby's hair, his paw print and name, with a place for his photo. It really touched our hearts. My dog has serious anxiety and vet clinics and kennels always scare him, and I was so relieved when we brought him in to be kenneled for a weekend and almost everybody there greeted him by name. Not just the person at the counter, but even vets and technicians that were walking by on the way to help other animals. I am beyond disappointed with this veterinary clinic. We brought in our cat for some health issues and came to find out that we were being told incorrect information regarding our cat's health and they were performing excessive services just to charge us more. We also weren't being told the costs of the services upfront and they acted like it was rude of us to even ask for those costs upfront. As any pet owner knows, you care deeply about your pet and want the best for them. The final straw I had with this clinic was when they told us we were abusing our cat because we hadn't found the correct dosage of medication. Not only was this heartbreaking to hear since we were just trying to help our cat, it was extremely unprofessional and abusive to us. They were constantly changing the dosage of the medication which was making her more sick. This staff is unprofessional, often having no idea why we were coming in even after checking in and looking at our chart and doesn't care if they waste your time. Our cat was scared to death every time we took it and it makes me sad to find out that they mistreated us and our cat for so long. read more

Twelve months ago my dog suffered a massive knee injury during a CAT performance event. Turned out she had blown her ACL. I live in California and I had been quoted was a cost prohibitive amount of money to fix one leg and I was desperate to find a solution for my girl. Friends suggested looking out of state. I was also told there was only a slim chance my dog would recover fully and return to the high level performance events she had been previously running. 11 years previously I had been traveling across the country to Nationals and my puppy had a major tooth issue. Stone Ridge Veterinary Clinic had been a life saver and fixed my young pup. I decided to contact them about my current issue as the Aussie community can be a helpful group. I got a reasonable quote from the clinic, great input and support from their staff. We (my husband and I) decided to do the out of state surgery and he would fly in and meet me there the day after surgery. We planned to drive from Salt Lake back to the Bay Area California in one shot. Marnie Cannon was fabulous in helping facilitate the surgery with a top notch surgeon and help co-ordinate vet care and travel plans. They worked hand in hand with my vets back in the Bay Area, and was really impressed with the service. Turns out my dog required a double ACL as both knees had been severely injured and the advice on type of surgery from the surgeon was wonderful. They gave be a clear path on how my dogs recovery should go with great support and directions. They were more than happy to help me with any questions I had during her recovery. My dog started her formal rehab with a practice in Salinas twice a week just three weeks into her recovery. The Rehab facility were extremely impress with how well my dog was doing after the surgery and said it was by far one of the best done surgeries they had seen for this type of traumatic performance injury. We finished our rehab in no time and after 3 months my dog was already successfully competing back in nose work and at 8 months was given the all clear to go back to agility. At all times I found this clinic had my dogs best interest at heart and worked well with my personal vet as well as my rehabilitation facility two states away. read more

I was looking for a new vet in Riverton/Herriman and was referred to Stone Ridge Veterinary Clinic. I'm so grateful that we gave them a try. We have an 8 week old puppy that needed a checkup and her first round of shots and we were very pleased with our visit. About 3 weeks later our puppy was lethargic and acted like she didn't feel well. They made time for us to bring her in even though they were about to close. Our dog ended up needing emergency surgery and Dr Cannon was able to save her life that night. This clinic has the most compassionate and caring staff and I have never met a better vet in my life!!! I thought I had found a new vet. I was wrong. I took my dogs in for vaccinations during Covid. The vet tech was so nice. Well, he quit and that's where it ended. Stone Ridge's doctor and vet tech was nice the last time I went in. But I felt like they were trying to get me back to sell me more things. Then, the front desk staff is incredibly rude. They make assumptions about people and get incredibly short with you when you ask questions to try and understand pricing. I understand that everyone is short staffed right now so I try to be nice. But, man, you have to be nice back. Don't take your loved pet here. There are simply better choices. read more

This is a family run clinic and one of best vet clinics I've ever used. They are accommodating , professional and inexpensive. It's nice to work with a vet staff that doesn't churn clients in and out. I've been coming here did almost 5 years, 3 dogs later and recommend all my friends. I have mix feelings about writing this review. Our senior shih tzu mix, started feeling ill last week, heavy panting and very weak, its regular vet couldn't see him until Sunday, so on Friday we made the decision to bring him to Stone Ridge. After examination and blood works the Vet told us, there was nothing really wrong with him (our doggie NEVER had health issues before) but due to his age and been overweight he was suffering from joint aches. She gave him some pills and home we went. By Saturday our dog seemed to decline even more, unable to stand up on his own and continue his heavy panting. We brought him back to Stone Ridge, they did more blood works and examination and they said "everything looks normal" but he is very stressed. They gave him some sedatives and the Vet ASSURE us HE will be okay. Our beloved Chip passed away on Sunday morning of a cardiac arrest. I am no blaming the young vet (Dr. Pickett) she clearly lacked the experience to diagnose what was really wrong with our pet. We left her a message to let her know what had happened but she never returned our call. We were left with a bad tasted that they don't really care for you and they just want your money. read more

I'm writing this review as an animal lover in hopes that other dog/cat parents can avoid the experience I had at this clinic. My biggest concern is that Dr. Cannon and his associate veterinarians failed to diagnose a large tumor in my dogs abdomen. I first brought my dog in for allergy issues, but had asked that the veterinarian exam her abdomen as it felt bloated and hard, which was not typical. After the exam, I had asked if they had any concerns about her distended stomach, they did not and gave her the all clear. Now, almost 3 months later, another veterinarian diagnosed the tumor. If Dr. Cannon's staff had performed their jobs thoroughly and taken my concerns seriously I could have addressed this tumor in it's early stages. Now I might lose my dog because the tumor has swollen to a massive size over the 3 months. (I might add that they provided no real solution for her allergies and kept my dog on steroids, which has prolonged her suffering and created more health issues) I did call to voice my disappointment and anger at their failure to diagnose this life threatening cancer in my dog. For the first time I was actually transferred through to Dr. Cannon rather than relaying messages through his technicians. (The two previous appointments and multiple phone calls I never got to speak to a vet directly, only techs and front desk) Dr. Cannon showed no remorse, was rude, dismissive, and used his staff as scapegoats. A sincere apology and understanding of my pain would have been appreciated, but because I was upset I feel that Dr. Cannon immediately stopped caring and just wanted to end the conversation so he hung up on me. I would like to state that the front desk and technicians that worked with me were always kind and professional, that being said, they were the only ones I was able to directly communicate with during my visits to Stone Ridge. All messages and questions were relayed through technicians, which made any appointment or phone call long and drawn-out. I was never able to speak directly with the veterinarian until that last phone call. read more

Absolutely incompetent unprofessional and ridiculous. Unfortunately my cat retracted Fleas(yes in Utah, I know) and an indoor cat at that... I live in Riverton so they are fairly close to me so I called them to get their advice and see if they had a shampoo that would get rid of it. They advised me that they did have some in a big bottle and that they would have to "make me a bottle". This is after I waited on hold for 15 minutes and spoke with two of the office staff. I asked them the pricing and they could not tell me. I guess it is because it is not something they shelf every day because fleas are not relevant in Utah. They said they would call me back and I never received a call back. I then went down to the clinic to see if I could retrieve this bottle of flea shampoo. I stood around in the wait area and watched four people come and go as the incompetent employees did whatever the hell they were doing in the back. Literally after 25 minutes and me asking what was going on several times I literally opened the back door to the vet bay area and I asked what the heck is going on. I told them they advised me on the phone that they had this ready to sell. But they in no way have it ready let alone priced to sell. They were trying to concoct some item and put together their own bottle to sell. I asked what is taking so long and eventually the vet came out and asked me if there was a problem. At that point I was furious waiting they claim to have on the phone ready to sell. It's not like I was waiting for my animal to get fixed or getting a shampoo on my cat. I was just needing to purchased an item that they claimed they had. The vet told me that they needed to make sure the shampoo would work for the cat. That was his excuse for the incompetence. But it simply says right on the back of the bottle what animals it is compatible with. HOW HARD IS THAT FOR A VET TO FIGIRE OUT. I already knew that and they are supposed to be the experts. At that point I could care less about the shampoo as I had back up options and had done my research. I simply went to IFA and got a bottle for nine dollars as opposed to the $25 they wanted to charge me for something they put together themselves and something they weren't even sure would work because they couldn't simply read the label on the back and use their brains. I love Stone Ridge Veterinary clinic! I've been visiting them for about 2 years now. They take great care of my Abbey at times when I'm away, and at an affordable rate, and provide her with all she needs to be comfy, like blankets, regular walks, bed, etc. i always return to a happy dog. They're also great at fitting in walk-ins appointments for maintenance things like nail trims and gland expressions, and remember me and Abbey as soon as we walk in. I know my dog is in good hands with the staff here and they care for her as their own. read more

I was excited to come here, for my pup, because they were able to fit him in. I arrived at 11 (my appointment time) and i had to call TWICE before anyone even came to get him. Once they did bring him in (AT 11:25), he was only in there for about 7-10 minutes. Didn't ask me any questions as to why he was feeling sick, if he ate anything, or anything about his history. I go no answers and only got charged $100 for 7 minutes of my pup being in there. Not a professional place, clearly doesn't care about your animal. I'm extremely disappointed. read more

We took our pets here several times. At one appointment, a man, I'm not sure of his position, but not a vet, told me I should euthanize my dog. At the time my dog was only about a year old. The problem stemmed from her biting one of the staff. However, I saw her on the back table being held down by three people to have her nails trimmed. I've done it at home with ease. She got really stressed out. She's terrified to go there now. I mean, why wouldn't they just sedate her or something? Anyway, other times we've been there haven't been great either. Not real professional, ya know. The grooming is convenient, but they don't do a very good job. I wouldn't recommend this vet to anyone. read more

I am very dissatisfied with the service at this vet. This was not the first time we brought our dog here before. The previous time he had 2 shots and a grooming appointment. Cost was about $60. This time for some odd reason they are requiring more shots which I felt was incorrect but I am not a Vet technician to know and another grooming. They called me a few hours after I dropped him off and asked for permission to sedate him because he was fighting the groomer. I know my dog does not like groomers but the previous time the groomer said he was perfect. Seems odd to me. Because they said his haircut was not complete, I agreed to the sedation fee of $40. Over an hour passes and I decided to go because surely he should be ready. It took about 5 minutes before someone came to the front desk and I am charged $165 for his visit. They failed to tell me that a visit fee would be included with his shots. The girl hardly felt like explaining the breakdown in costs. I unhappily pay and she goes to get my dog and then realized he was not even ready. Not even sedated yet but when I spoke to someone on the phone they said he would be ready shortly. So I felt waiting over an hour would be fine and maybe they were busy and forgot to call. The lady at the front desk could not even offer me a time frame of when to expect that he would be done. Nothing at all. That when she calls then that means he is done. We will never bring our dog back here and will be sure to tell other friends and family. Terrible service and they are just looking to rip you off. Tried to support our local veterinary by this is what we get. Update. I finally was able to pick my dog up and his haircut was terrible. The groomer completely shaved my shihtzu. She also gave him a Scotty terrier face, and it was completely lopsided. I asked her to fix it and she did, but how could you not notice something like that? And the fact that he was sedated. How do you mess up a hair cut when the dog is out? I have found 3 spots on his body and tail that she nicked him with the clippers and I can see the blood. THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE. If you love your fur babies take them somewhere else. read more

I'm shocked with how unprofessional this business is run. While the vet was talking to us, a very young child (maybe two or three years old) came into the room and was chasing my cats around and pulling on their tails. The vet allowed the child to be in the room and did nothing to stop her. When she wasn't harrassing the cats she was banging on things and making loud noises. I was, and still am in awe that this was allowed to continue. When I finally interrupted him and pointed out that the little girl was pulling their tails, he looked at the little girl and said in baby talk "Oh are you trying to get the kitties?" and then did nothing about it. I will absolutely not be returning and I recommend you find a more professional veterinarian who takes your pet's visit seriously. read more
