Unfortunately, we've lost Grazin' Angus (although, I'm told I should eat less red meat) and Divine Pickles (I miss those wasabi pickles), but there's still plenty of produce for you. All the tomatoes, greens, beans, nuts, mushrooms, cheese, eggs, flowers and other plants you'd ever want are here for the buying. You can also still grab: Tasty turkey sausage/burgers (and other items) from DiPaolo's. Crusty ciabatta (and other items) from Bread Alone. Whole chickens, primed for roasting. Duck bacon and/or rillettes. Burpless cucumbers. Overall, I've been happy with just about every purchase I've made here over the past few years. There was that one time that I bought an heirloom tomato that got crushed in the bag under other, heavier stuff, and leaked juice all over everything...I was sad about that. Then my cat decided to attack the other, $3 tomato as it sat in our fruit bowl. That was also disappointing, but he's a known asshole and we should've expected it. Anyway, what hasn't changed in the past half decade or so is that I think you should come here and buy delicious items from the vendors. Because the more you support the market, the more awesome vendors will show up. Therefore, by spending money here, you will really be increasing my quality of life. Greene Park, it is frustratingly crowded and sometimes just not easy to walk around and navigate. I realize they probably don't have other options, but it nonetheless discourages attendance or makes me rush through to get out of dodge as quickly as possible. The other nuisance I feel like they could have some control over, and that is how short the hours are/how early the market closes. I swing by around 12-1pm and most of the stands are closed or closing up. I lived for years near the two park slope/prospect heights markets and felt like you could still stroll in at 2-3 to a still-thriving scene (and more comfortably stroll!). There are a lot of great vendors and quality produce here for you once you wade through the crowds--lots of fresh fruit and veggies of course, but also cheesemongers, shops selling meat, charcuterie, bread, mushrooms... quite she smorgasbord. it ultimately feels a bit petty and silly to complain at all about having a nice farmers' market nearby.--I am ultimately grateful this spot is within walking distance of my home. But it feels like it could be a much better experience for shoppers--like it's just slapped together without much care for visitors' experience, particularly when compared to other city farmers' markets I have experienced.

I am also quite happy with their vegetables, tomatoes are solid, asparagus is quite tasty and they have the one vegetable that I never thought I'd see- mini Japanese eggplants. They cook really fast and are really flavorful in a saute or a curry, no bitterness! 2012 has not been a great year for farmers but I have not witnessed a change in the produce of Kernan Farms.

Sure, it's only been open once so far, but if all the vendors stick with it it's going to be great all summer: They've got fresh spinach, tomatoes, scallions, cilantro, basil, cheese (fresh and smoked mozzarella, among others), bread, cheesy bread, rutabaga, radishes (including an old man making incomprehensible radish jokes) and TWO different types of kohlrabi. What am I gonna do with kohlrabi? I dunno, but I'm pumped. They've got apples, apple cider, apple cider doughnuts, apple sauce, asparagus, broccoli, pasta, crabcakes, crazy amounts of nuts from a couple places including The Original Delancey St. Peanut Company (not the new, knockoff Delancey St. Peanut Company). There's fresh tomato juice, bloody mary mix, cookies, pies and cakes. What else? Yona's Delights is here with all kinds of ready-to eat baked goods including quiches, bourekas, hot dog pastry thingies. There's a lemonade stand infusing things with all types of fruit and herbs. And best of all, there's a very enthusiastic guy who will stuff as many pickles and/or olives as can possibly fit into a pint/quart container, as well as generously insist upon giving you multiple plastic bags despite the protestations of your environmentally-conscious girlfriend. As far as I can tell, the only thing no one had was garlic, which was obviously the one thing I actually had on my shopping list (they promise to have it on Thursday). But I still walked away with a fridge's worth of fresh goods that, if it actually leads to me spending less money at restaurants this week, will keep me from going completely broke. Even if I do go completely broke though, they also take food stamps.

So then you can figure out the negative, which is that it just doesn't have that many fruits and vegetables, not enough to make it a true 'farmers market' as opposed to a bazaar that sells fruit as well. Either way, I do like it and will hopefully rate it higher upon my return, which tends to make a difference.

The fruit was tasteless, grapes were discolored as well as the pineapple. I called the establishment to inform them of the quality I received . The individual i spoke with offered no resolution or willingness to help. Instead, he seemed bothered by having to speak to me at all. I was very disappointed with the customer service experience at this establishment. I was not treated respectfully and no attempt was made to resolve the issue professionally. I will no longer use this establishment.
