Dr. Ricardo Caballero it's the best Veterinarian doctor anyone would need. He's knowledgeable, kind and loving with animals. And the staff it's also excellent, friendly and professional. I have been taken my pets to Dr. Caballero since the early 90's. They walk the extra mile to help your pet. My dogs love all the staff. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this pet hospital. I just arrived with my dog because I am dealing with an emergency, and I was told they could not see him because they were closed for lunch. I honestly cannot understand how a facility that presents itself as a pet hospital can turn away an animal experiencing an emergency because it is lunchtime. What if I had arrived with my dog choking, unable to breathe, or in a life-threatening condition? Am I supposed to be told that he cannot receive care because they are on lunch break? When someone rushes their pet to a hospital during an emergency, every minute can matter. At the very least, there should be a system in place to assess an emergency and direct the pet owner immediately to appropriate care. This was an extremely upsetting and concerning experience, especially when you are already scared for your pet's life. read more

This Vet has no regards for their clients time. I have brought my puppy to this office on three separate occasions and on all three, I have had to wait over an hour with an appointment. Today was just plain right nasty what they did, let me explain. I decided to take my puppy in because I think she might have puppy mange. I arrived at 9:15am the tech met me outside because they are not letting clients wait inside because of Covid-19. When the tech asked if I had an appointment I said no and explained why I was bringing my puppy in. She said it would take a few minutes. After waiting in the hot sun for an hour my husband knocked on the door to ask how much longer it would take to see the vet, the tech said very sarcastically "keep in mind you did not have an appointment" It can take another 20min. Seriously... she should have said from the beginning since you don't have an appointment you will have to wait out here over an hour and 20min. not it will take a few minutes. After waiting so long in the Sun I told her we would wait in the car, and asked her to call us when the vet was ready, 5min later at 10:25 am someone else called us to explain that we did not have an appointment and with the Covid 19 situation they were taking longer than usual. I told her the wait time has nothing to do with the Covid situation, I have taken my puppy several times with an appointment before Covid 19 and have always waited over an hour. I asked why their tech would tell me it's going to take a few minutes and leave us outside in the hot sun for an hour, that was OUR Fault though for having too much patience! We should have knocked on the door 15min after. The girl proceeded to tell me they had another appointment coming in at 10:30 if they made it on time we will continue to wait or we could come in at 12:00pm I was so upset, I told her we would go to another vet. I understand emergencies come up but every time I have come to this office the wait is well over an hour even with an appointment. The fact that their tech was so nasty to say it was going to take a few minutes and leave us waiting in the hot sun and then had the audacity to say we did not have an appointment after waiting an hour goes to show they have no respect for their clients. ***IN RESPONSE TO THIS VET'S EXCUSE for not respecting my time for the last three previous visits, DO NOT USE A GLOBAL PANDEMIC as an EXCUSE for your INEPTNESS. Miami Lakes Veterinary Clinic saw my puppy same day. They are open during a Global Pandemic but unlike your office they where courteous enough to inform us that if we did not want to wait outside we should come back in the afternoon. ***IN RESPONSE TO YOUR BLATANT LIE THAT MY PET HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY SEEN FOR A SKIN INFECTION & THAT I DECLINED RECOMMENDATION BY THE DOCTOR IS INACCURATE! I had taken my Puppy to your office for the third time with an appointment that had been scheduled through your Puppy Wellness Package & per usual I had to wait over an hour outside so the Vet could give her the shots she needed. I mentioned to your tech when she took her from me that I felt a scab on my puppies head, it had been there from the moment I purchased her but was not sure if maybe her nails were to sharp. I asked her (the tech)to please trim them. The Doctor never mentioned from the previous two visits that he felt she needed to be tested for a skin infection. I'm the one who asked, I will also provide pics of my puppy because from the naked eye you can't see any skin issues (Giving the Doctor the benefit of the doubt) When the Vet recommended I pay $85 for a skin scraping that was only asked when I felt a scab seemed a little steep. Thank goodness I did not pay that; although, I was willing to pay an office visit plus your price for a skin scraping today. Your lack of COMPASION for your clients time during these difficult times drove me to look for another Vet,I paid less than half the price! As a previous client, I ask that you please follow your advise & have some COMPASION for your paying clients & realize that you aren't the only Vet's in town working during this pandemic. About two weeks ago, I called because my cocker spaniel was projectile vomiting. I called a little under an hour before closing as I lived not even 5 minutes away and my preferred vet (Batista) was closed. The receptionist let me know that they only had two rooms available and asked how far I was. After I let her know I was basically down the road she told me she could only refer me to a 24 hour pet hospital. Total lack of sympathy and remorse. She did not say they had appointments coming up or that they had another emergency case. Just flat out told me know after mentioning rooms were available and asking how far I was. Truthfully was disappointed in the office beyond words, on November 29th, I called early morning the moment they opened because I realized my pet was acting a bit odd. They happened to have an appt at 3pm, which was greatly appreciated. Within an hour my pets health depleted suddenly & this vet is 5 minutes from my home, compared to most hospitals that were 30 minutes or more. I've brought my English Bulldog here since he was a puppy so of-course I figured I'd call to see if they can take in an emergency a bit earlier considering it was 10:30am & the appointment was at 3pm, the person said no sorry we only have 3pm, despite the fact you can tell I was a bit distressed & wouldn't have asked for an earlier appointment if it was not an emergency as I stated. I understand that they aren't an emergency clinic but as I said I've trusted them with my dog since he was young so I really was hoping they'd consider seeing him as an emergency situation. I decided to cancel my appointment & take my business elsewhere as I called VCA silver lakes in Pembroke Pines also a clinic & they didn't hesitate to take my pet in, & LeadER in Cooper City despite having emergent situations already but they understood bulldogs are very time sensitive in these situations. I was able to have him seen, & taken to an animal hospital but he was unfortunately very unstable & pronounced dead at 2:35pm on that day, I couldn't imagine how I'd have found him in my own home if I waited till that 3pm appointment that they could only fathom to fit me in for. The next day I received a call from here in reference to re-scheduling my appointment for my dogs vaccines, I never called to have him do his vaccines... I called because it was an Emergency. Went here for my cats surgery procedure and everything went perfectly. the woman Angie at the front desk was really nice and the technician was really friendly too. However, i went here again recently and the woman at the front desk was someone different and was not as attentive as Angie. After being told by the doctor that my cat only had a few weeks left to live, the doctor showed no sympathy or care for me or my pet. After being told the terrible news about my cat, they said nothing to me and just gave me my $700 bill. They then scheduled a check up for my dying cat KNOWING she only had days left to live. TERRIBLE SERVICE! BEWARE! In December 2013, I dropped off my dog to be boarded, get her vaccisnes and be groomed. When I picked her up, they charged me for everything, however, not only was she was NOT grromed, and I was charged for it, but she had crusted on feces on 2 of her legs. She looked neglected! After having a cow, the manager called me to basically tell me it was my fault because if I wanted one-on-one service, maybe I should have taken her to a PET HOTEL! What knd of answer is that???? In April 2014, I receive a citation from Animal Services that my dog did not have the Rabies shot. When I called them, she looked into it and told me that they did ALL her shots EXCEPT that one! After me telling her I should have been told, the rude receptionist told me it was me, because they have NEVER had this problem before..... Bottom line, their service is terrible, their customer service even worse, and to top it off, it is ALWAYS the customer's fault.... If I am paying for a service, I expect that the service be done correclty! I am out! read more

These people advertise a 10% off discount when you register on line through their website. They never respond or acknowledge your registration. After a few days I called to make an appointment for my sick cat. Couldn't wait for them any more. Once I showed up and registered in "person" I was now forfeiting the 10% discount - unbeknownst to me. Should this make a difference? A new client is a new client. They conveniently deleted my on line registration! Very shady business practice. I left this office with 3 pills, a pump spray and $275 poorer for some blood work. This supposedly included a "Free First Exam". They advertise all these promotions and they are all B.S. - just a way to sucker you into going there. No ethics! At the end of the day - my cat is no better now than when he went in. Everything was "normal" according to them. Then they have the audacity to inform me that I would receive a 10% discount on my next visit. Do these people think I'm stupid? All they would do is hike the fees by 10% and I would still be getting screwed. That was the reason I reminded them of the 10% discount promotion AFTER the bill was issued. They didn't like that. They don't conduct business in good faith. This place is a rip off. Do yourself a favor and find another veterinary office. One star is one too many unfortunately zero stars is not an option here on Yelp. read more

Our pets (babies) have known no other Vet and the peace of mind of knowing our 4 legged family members are in his care, is priceless. I recently got a bulldog for Christmas and when I researched veterinarians that specialize in bulldogs this clinic showed up. When I called to schedule an appointment the receptionist was very pilot and knowledgeable. She told me about the vaccination packages that they offfer which I think is a steal ! The day of the appointment I was very pleased with how diligent and genuinely caring the staff was with my pet. I saw Dr. Caballero that day and after meeting him I instantly knew this was going to be my vet for current and future animals. He spoke eloquently and was very knowledgeable. He gave me great recommendations/treatment for my puppy's diet, bathing,vitamins, etc. All in all, I was truly happy with the service and will definitely be returning. read more

To Mara V. I am Suzy, the receptionist you had spoken to when you brought Bella in for boarding. You brought Bella in for boarding in December 2013. At that time you were advised that she was due for vaccines and had been due since May 2013. However, since your little Bella had been hospitalized the previous week and diagnosed with Addison's disease you were not comfortable with administering vaccines. You asked me if I could ask the Doctor if it could wait until we got her levels controlled. I called you back later that morning and advised you that Dr. Caballero said it was OK, so we were only going to do a semi-annual which included the following: Bordatella, fecal, and heartworm check. Bordatella was the only vaccine given because she was late on vaccines and she was going to be boarded. You were advised that when Bella was better, that we needed to do the vaccines. Regardless, had you vaccinated Bella in December, you would have still received a citation from Miami Dade county because you were already late 7 months. As far as the grooming goes for Bella, you had stated you were going to pick up on Monday January 6th, 2014. She was given a bath that morning. You emailed that you would be late picking up. You later didn't want us to re-bathe or groom her because you didn't want her skin to get irritated. You picked up Saturday, January 11, 2014. When pets are not in their environment, for example a kennel like Bella was in for 13 days, they tend to not act like themselves. There are a lot of scents in an animal hospital. Your pet may not defecate in her kennel at home, but in an animal hospital, she may. Pets get walked 3-4 times daily. Cages are thoroughly cleaned DAILY. In no way shape or form was your pet neglected. She received her medications, she was fed and had everything she needed throughout her stay with us. You were upset when you picked up Bella because she had feces on her feet. We apologized. We REFUNDED you the money for the grooming. Please be advised that customer service is one of the things we most strive for. I, for example, go above and beyond to help clients. I go above and beyond to make you feel as comfortable as possible. During hospitalizations, boarding, surgeries, you name it..I will keep you updated and be as compassionate as possible. I have worked for Dr. Caballero for MANY YEARS. He is a wonderful person and one of the best Vets in South Florida. It is unfortunate that you feel this way about our clinic because we tried to take YOUR feelings into consideration. It is disappointing that we have tried in so may ways to please you, and yet there is no way to. Take into consideration that Dr. Caballero diagnosed your pet the very next day, for Addison's disease which may sometimes require extensive visits prior to diagnosing.
