Like for myself, I'm always looking to keep my princess Luna healthy. Recently, her original vet had cut back hours and availability. I reached out to a couple of friends, including the lady from the rescue group where i got Luna. She had recently switched over to this vet for both her pets and the ones she rescues, so I called and inquired. At least during times of the Rona, Saturdays are strictly walk-in . You sign up front then go to your car and they call when your spot is ready. Even during times of social distance, you don't just drop your pup off. Dr. Martinez and his staff let you walk in with your fur baby. I feel this is important, since doggos can't explain their health concerns. The clinic facility itself is really clean, and the equipment more modern such as a digital X-ray (like at human doctors) and an exam table that has a built in scale. (For a Yorker, my Luna is a little bit of a UNIT coming in right at the weight limit for my building:) Aardvark is located on a strip mall in West Hialeah with plenty of parking. Dr. Martinez had a very patient bedside manner and ordered a large battery of exams for Luna's new patient exam. He even tested her for allergies, as a check from a diagnosis of her original vet. For one thing that he wanted to double check, he made a referral to a specialist, so here's hoping all is well. read more

Listen the ladies up in the front are nice, but when I got inside the room the woman brings 2 people inside the room a man and a woman looked like they were learning. So, my dog was in pain and she did some things and then another man comes in because they the other and the woman couldn't even take out blood. Weird! At the end she wanted to put my dog down since is expensive to put your dog down they make more money like that. My dog didn't even had anything that would make me put it down. These people Only think about money nothing else. I mean come on. They are ridiculous! So, now my dog went home still in pain and nothing resolved. They woman I talked to me didn't even give option or say I'm going to give you something so the dog doesn't go home in pain. Nothing she just has this disgusting look on her face just repeating to old and has issues. It's like let me do that to you when you are old and you die. Ridiculous!! I'd advise anyone that has a sick pet or a pet in need of serious medical attention to NOT come here ! These people are absolutely disgusting, rude and they have no compassion for others whatsoever . I came here to put my baby down. The back staff and tech were completely disrespectful, cursing, screaming and laughing near our door and speaking badly about our situation. No remorse or care in the world knowing that the clinic was full of other clients. Something I've never experienced before. I wasn't able to hold my baby while she was being layed to rest even though she was sedated basically sleeping. The doctor did not go over what he was doing. He did not explain the process so I was completely in the dark. He looked lost and did not know how to speak to us going through this process. As an example the doctor placed the stethoscope upside-down on her chest to confirm she was gone and noticed shortly after and flipped it to the correct side. I would never trust any other pet to be in their care. Only the front desk staff were helpful and very sweet. Only reason this place is still standing has to go to their front desk staff. Alex is incredible with services and diagnosing and helping with discounts for your pet care, although for my budget their services are very (extremely) expensive. My dog needs monthly shots and the bill is unaffordable and I don't see results. The associate vet, is all about $$$$$$$ at least that's the impression, I get. This clinic is wonderful. The inside is very clean and smells really good. The staff are very friendly. I came in for an appointment and I barely waited in the lobby, they serviced me really quickly, almost 3-5 minutes after arriving. You can truly tell these people love animals and care for them. When giving my dog his shots, they were very gentle and sympathetic with him. They comforted my dog as much as they could which is highly appreciated. They seemed like they truly felt bad for my dog being a bit scared. Even when he tinkled a bit after from the stress, they didn't care at all and were very understanding and knew he was just scared. They cleaned it up right away and told me not to apologize. This clinic is the only place I go to for my pet's medical needs. They are also very affordable. Their flea pills are around 20 something dollars for reference. The vet was easy to talk to and was very nice and funny. I highly recommend coming to this little clinic. read more

This was my favorite vet of my life. Dr Martinez and Dr Mesa are wonderful however the staff has changed. The receptionists were once friendly and welcoming. This is no longer the case. They are neither. They don't interact or smile. I guess times are rough and you hire whatever is willing to work during the pandemic. I hate the thought of finding a new vet but I guess it is what it is. Hey Dr M and Dr M get rid I f the 2 girls on your front desk. They're not nice and they're giving you a black eye. Been bringing my fur baby here for over a year now. Finally after so many vets, we found the one. He truly cares about each pet. He explains everything carefully, and puts pet safety at top priority. An added plus is the prices are so reasonable. My fur baby is my top priority and I trust them with her. In fact she always hated going to the vet. She would do anything possible not to walk in. You get what you pay for. Yes this is a less expensive option but the ladies up in front are definitely not customer minded. Because of covid you walk in to put your name down and wait in the car. After seeing three people walk-in with their dogs and walk out with their animals tended to, I called and was put on hold. So after an hour, yes an hour. I left. They called after I got home. I asked if she forgot and she said yes and then said the doctor had an emergency. Really? Own up to your mistakes. Makes me wonder if this was racially motivated. read more

We have a new family member. She is a beautiful young cat, Vinagrita. She is very affectionate and likes to play outside. Unfortunately she had an accident. We took her to the clinic. I'm not a review person but our 4 legged friends deserve it. I have 4 rescues and for over 25 years have gone to the same animal hospital. I remembered the awesome Dr. at Aardvark and looked him up, to my surprise Aardvark now had new owners. Reviews were great, so I took a chance, what a great experience this morning. From my initial call the young lady did everything to accommodate me including taking all my information down making it a breeze when I arrived. Dr. Martinez was patient and to the point in details. He recommended blood tests and XRays. A young lady with the itemized costs of the tests explained everything before we any further. I chose a la carte with her guidance, she was knowledgeable and amazing. Dr. Martinez explained in detail test results and X-Rays in language I could understand and answered my questions without hesitation. The assistant, the tec, everyone was great. They went beyond the call of duty with my 15 year old rescue. I left with such joy in more ways than one. I will be visiting AAC for wellness checks and anything else that comes along. As always, they're awesome. I usually deal with Dr. Martinez but we saw Dr.Mesa this time..I was a little apprehensive; as anyone would be if they've dealt with one doctor for so long. But as the visit went on I realized that he was as sweet and as caring as Dr. Martinez. He only gave necessary treatment and didn't try to take extra steps to make me spend more. The vet tech Was amazing too. I don't know him name but he handled Asa at 5pm on 9/10 with Dr.Mesa and gave my dog kisses and hugs to soothe him. Thank you for all you do. This animal clinic is great for my baby boy. He is naturally very timid and hates the vet. The vet and vet techs are very nice and comforting to my dog. However, the staff at the front are very unwelcoming and make it extremely hard to get a hold of on the phone. Every time I try to call for an appointment they answer and I am left on hold for 30min+ and when I email them they do not confirm any appointments or answer in a timely manner. I would love to bring my dog back it would be great if I could at least be able to make an appointment. Something needs to be changed!! read more

I've been bringing my pets here since the mid 1990s when it was owned by Dr. Fernandes, who was awesome. He even had one late night where he stayed open late for us 9 to 5-ers. He retired and sold the clinic to Dr Martinez, who's a warm, sweet and very knowledgeable vet. He made great cosmetic changes to the clinic and expanded services. Now, fast forward to 2020-22, the clinic hours have changed several times and now they close at 5 pm...and 2 pm on Weds. So now one has to take a day off or go on Saturday where there's no appt needed so you wait for hours. Someone else mentioned the new staff lack of social skills and I have to agree. I've called about medication and been rudely spoken to by those kids. Thank God, Donna is still there from Dr Fernandes' time! The second Vet, Dr. Mesa has ZERO bedside manner, comes into the exam room without so much as a hello. Common courtesy goes a LONG way!! Now I'm dealing with getting short changed on medication. I called Monday to let them know my dog had passed away. Did the robot answering the phone even say "Sorry for your loss?" or anything similar? No. She said, "Okay, I've taken him off your list." Wtf does that even mean? It doesn't matter how fancy & nice the place is if your staff treats customers like dirt. Don't know if I'll take any new pet there again. read more

Dr Mesa is amazinggggggggg. The staff is amazing. They are top of the line. Dr. Mesa treats all of my Sphynx cats and he is very knowledgeable on the breed and on the treatment of cats which unfortunately many vets aren't. His service goes above and beyond. Horrible service. As a new patient I scheduled at 2:20 PM appointment. When I got there I was completely ignored by 3 receptionist who were all talking to 1 guy. It was as if I wasn't even there.. Finally after 10 minutes of standing and being ignored they said both vet's were in surgery and to come back in 15-20 min top. They said they will call us when we are next. It's 6:10 PM right now and I NEVER got a call. They definitely lost my service with the unprofessionalism. Avoid at all costs. Horrible horrible customer service. read more

First time I went to get my puppy their shots the service was amazing and in a timely manner. As time progressed, their service declined. I found myself waiting an hour and a half to get my puppy their shots and when they FINALLY called me in, they kindly let me know that I had to wait for longer because they put someone in front of me, even though I had an appointment an hour and a half before. The veterinary staff at aardvark is excellent. The former vet there was old and not on his game. The new owners are great. They retained much of the support staff and we have nothing but good things to say about them. Dr Martinez demonstrates extraordinary care for our pets. I don't get the same treatment from human doctors. Their boarding services are good and reasonably priced. They have been very cooperative in dealing with advanced specialists needed for our dogs complex medical condition. I won't look elsewhere for another primary care vet. read more

Aardvark animal clinic is a terrific veterinary clinic. I feel bad for the 1 star review below who had a bad experience with the previous owners but I'd wish she returned and met Dr. Martinez. He is absolutely the best veterinarian you could find. He treats all his patients with such tenderness and love. I have 3 dogs and 1 cat that are all seen by him and I highly recommend everyone and anyone looking for a vet to pass by Aardvark. The hospital has been remodeled and looks gorgeous plus it's always kept extremely clean. It looks like your taking your pets to a spa(super clean and modern!) Also, the staff that work alongside Dr.martinez are absolutely wonderful! They will always try to help everyone as much as possible. Lastly, I wanted to discuss the pricing. Now, taking your beloved pet to the vet is just like when we go to the doctor. However, they prices and packages offered at Aardvark are always reasonable. I have been to other clinics before, won't name them here out of respect, but Aardvark has prices that can't be beat. Dr. Martinez and the ladies at the front desk will always give you estimates and will work with your economic status and provide you different methods to help. Aardvark was HIGHLY referred to me by a friend of mine. I was at another clinic for some years, but I moved and this place is walking distance from my new house. I hoped that Aardvark would be as good as the other place I was at. My dog Sophie had something that looked like "cherry eye" in one eye due to a trauma. She needed surgery to remove it. I was so scared to leave her with them because I just started going there and didn't know anyone, but the staff were so welcoming and they made me feel super comfortable. I wish I could remember all their names, but they ALL were super nice and helpful! The Dr was very thorough, honest and reassuring. The prices were almost the same as the last place, if not more economic. She had surgery in her eye, all her vaccinations, teeth cleaning, and nails cut all that day. She came back brand new! A week later, she had some complications with the antibiotics, so they told me to bring her in and saw her as soon as we walked in the door! The service is amazing and I definitely recommend this clinic. Your pet will be in great hands! read more

This June of 2014 it will be a year since I took my best friend Chips to be put down. Chips was 14 years old with hip problems and in a lot of pain. It took me a while to make the decision, I thought if would be more humane to let her go. Instead Chips was put down with NO tranquilizer, she was aware of what was going on. She fought , it was awful. I've stayed with the awful guilt that I let her down. All I could do was cry I was in shock that I didn't stop it. Chips had been a patient at this hospital for several years I didn't expect that she would be treated that way. It's taken me a while to write about it because I still feel her loss . We came here for a second opinion for our Great Dane, Lola and so glad we did. The facility was amazing. The staff was incredibly sweet and informative.
