As mentioned in other reviews I wrote other lookout points, sunrise and sunset points aren't terribly different from say fairyland or inspiration points. However, they do offer slightly different vantage points of the canyon. You can see directly down into "the silent city" from here and get a distant view of Thor's hammer (famous rock formation). This is also a starting point for some of the best hikes in the park, eg if you do the Wall Street/Navajo loop to Queen's garden (counter clockwise loop). read more

Best place to start several hikes at Bryce National Park and see Wall Street, embark on the Peek a Boo Loop, visit the Queens Garden and go on the Navajo Loop. There were so many people because it is so easy to walk down the trail and see so many unique rock structures. There is a railing you can hold onto to go down the trail so it's not too bad if it's covered with snow. There are pretty big restrooms and it's stocked well. I'd suggest to arrive early to avoid the traffic of cars waiting to park. Beautiful place to enjoy the sunset without even having to hike if you're not up for it. read more

Ironically, we've never been to Sunset Point for sunset, but it's still a beautiful place to look out and enjoy Bryce Canyon none-the-less. I've been here twice, and each time the view is absolutely breath-taking. Parking is super easy - there's a lot right next to the point, so it's a quick, easy walk from the car to the point. You can also access the Navajo Loop with Thor's Hammer from here for a nice hike. This is a wonderful place to stop, especially if you only have a short amount of time in the park - it really showcases Bryce Canyon. Highly recommend making this a stopping point during your visit. read more

Spectacular! It's funny because I actually came to Sunset Point closer to sunrise. However, the views are just as magnificent. It's that "make your jaw drop" kind of beauty. Stacked hoodoos galore that are all different sizes, shapes, and colors. It's seriously amazing how these rock formations occur so naturally. I began my figure 8 combination hike from Sunset Point. You can easily connect to the Navajo Loop and take it down to Wall Street. You can also enjoy the views of Sunset Point via the Rim Trail if you're not into hiking. The Rim Trail also connects to nearby Sunrise Point which is only about a half mile away. Loved being able to look down at the Navajo loop switchbacks from the top of Sunset Point before eventually making my way down there. It was so neat. Aside from the views of the hoodoos, what's also beautiful here are the gorgeous pine trees that engulf part of the walkways. They're so green and lush. Loved being able to walk through these shady pines. There's a good amount of parking here but it fills up quickly. Most people come for a short time to enjoy the views and then move on to the next vista point, so parking spots some and go. This is also a great spot to have a picnic as they have several picnic tables available. Restrooms are also onsite. I enjoyed Sunset Point more than Sunrise Point, but both are very beautiful. Definitely a must stop when in Bryce Canyon. read more

Stunning vermilion hoodoos If you only plan to do one hike while in Bryce Canyon Navajo Loop would be the trail to choose. This is the most popular trail in the park. Navajo Loop can be found here at Sunset Point. It is a moderate hike that is a distance of 1.3 miles round trip. The trail takes you down to the floor of Bryce Canyon and is an estimated 1-2 hours hike. It's considered a "moderate" hike. Hubby and I followed the trail down partially but we didn't go all the way to the floor. That was back in 2012 and we did enjoy some of the scenery from the "Wall Street" sides of the loop between cliffs. We were also wowed by the views of towering Douglas fir trees growing along the trail. Last month we skipped this hiking trail altogether. There was a retaining wall that collapsed and the Navajo Loop is almost entirely closed. It is a steep trail... watch out for loose rocks (boots recommended). Sunset Point is about 450-ft from the parking lot and the viewpoint area is nice and paved. It is a magical place with changing views of the countless hoodoo formations in the Bryce Amphitheater. Getting there: Park at the Lodge. Here there will be signs to guide you to the trailhead. Sunset Point is a part of the Navajo Loop. Experience: This point offers beautiful views inside the canyon. We did not hike this during sunset, however I've seen pictures and I will be back for that experience. The switchbacks can be brutal, but if you're not planning to hike to Sunrise Point or the Navajo Loop then there is really no need to hike down any further. read more

We came on Sunday to visit sunset point. It was windy, cold and a bit nipply to say the least! But oh what a sight absolutely gorgeous We were also told at the entrance that the road was closed 2 miles out, which was fine with us. We got to see deer resting under the trees as we drove towards sunset point. I couldn't get a good picture since they were afar off (sorry!). The kids were not loving the icy wind, so we didn't get to go on the trail leading into the canyon. But it looked like a ton of fun and a really good workout. Despite the cold, there were plenty of visitors all around. I'd like to come back in the spring and hike. I'm sure it will be crowded, but it would be fun! Also just outside the entrance, there's a rodeo in late spring through the summer. I also want to check out the souvenir shops! I love that touristy stuff read more

You can see different images depending on the weather, season, and time zone, and you can get great pictures no matter how you take them anywhere. There is also a hiking course, so you can go down. Beautiful start to our Bryce Canyon hike, parking was easy to find since we came early at 8AM (highly recommended) since it got really packed when we left around 11AM/12PM (after we had our lunch) and a lot of people had to park far off and take the shuttle. Gorgeous view of Bryce Canyon and there were entry to multiple hiking trails as well as an equestrian trail. If you walk farther up you'll end up at the start of Navajo Loop that also eventually takes you to Queen's Garden trail. There's also an option where you can hike all the way to Bryce and Inspiration Point, which we originally wanted to do but my group ended up being too tired and so we only did Sunset Point to Navajo Loop to Queens Garden and looped ourselves back up to Sunrise Point where you can also take amazing photos at. They also have restrooms and picnic tables you can eat lunch at, but everything was full when we finished our hike that we ended up just sitting and eating from the trunk of our SUV, so take note and plan accordingly! read more

We walked here along the Rim Trail from Sunrise Point. Very easy walk and stunning views. We came when there was still snow on the ground and the views were more colorful than usual. The snow on the trail was only a minor hindrance. Didn't see anyone slip and fall. Bryce Canyon is a must see. It's different that Zion. read more

I can't believe I hadn't written a review since this is my third visit. The views here just like the other view points along the rim trail are breathtaking. I am not tired of looking at this vista the third time. Sunset is also one of the entrance and exit of the Queen's Garden hiking trail leading down to the canyon and looping back up to the rim. No word can describe the incredible scenery. read more

This was the first trail we took when we came to Bryce Canyon. Be sure to have your camera because the view is incredible. The trail is fairly easy. Just be careful during winter as it might be a bit slippery because of the snow/ice. read more

Sunset point is one of the lookouts along the main amphitheater in Bryce. Contrary to the name, it is quite difficult to take photos here at sunset due to the shadows. There is a huge parking lot here, and this is where the tour busses drop off there hordes of day trippers. Though the main amphitheater is the busiest place at Bryce, it is so for a reason. The hoodoos. Thousands. All lined up. It is located along the rim trail, 1/2 mile from sunrise point. This is where you get the best view of Thors Hammer. You can walk down the Navajo Loop Trail a bit to get up close and personal with the Hammer. This is where many of the daily ranger programs begin. read more

Wow!!bryce canyon is one of my favorite national parks. I love how beautiful the vistas are and sunset point has one of the best views. We were lucky to have found accommodation in the park and the sunset point was right behind us. We watched the sunrise and held every breadth as we were just in awe of the beauty of the hoodoos. In case it isn't obvious, this is definitely the best place in the park to catch the sunset. The setting sun illuminates the canyon walls as it sets here and makes for a breath taking view. This is also a great place to set off to explore the canyon on the hiing trails which descend down into it. Make sure to at least take the trail around the rim to get some great views. Head down in as well if you have the time, you won't regret it. read more

As the name says this is the place to be at sunset in Bryce Canyon National Park.. We took the Navajo loop trail and was able to capture the beautiful light changes of the hoodoos. Make sure you have the right iso if you have a dslr camera as the light changes. read more
