The place is always buzzing, tables full without any beer, With card battles and games happening year round here. Whether you're a seasoned player or just tagging along, The energy makes it feel like you somehow belong. My kid is obsessed with Pokémon, that much is true, this is one of the few places with booster packs to browse through. Unlike Target, where the shelves are usually bare, Versus almost always has something waiting there. They've also got rare Pokémon cards displayed with pride, Though those prices send this parent's wallet into hiding inside. Maybe someday we'll splurge but today we'll just stare, And dream about adding a Charizard to our collection with flair. The drink/snack selection is small, but it does the trick, Keeping gamers fueled through matches that move lightning quick. Whether you're hunting Pokémon packs or rolling the dice for fun, Versus Games is worth a visit, even if you don't know what's going on.

Terrible customer service from one particular employee. I've been to this store many times before,…read moreand most of the staff have always been friendly, but this experience was completely different. I asked about One Piece booster packs and was told they were all gone, even though I could clearly see the One Piece booster packs I was looking for on the shelf. When I asked if they were for sale and if I could take a look, the employee kept responding with an attitude, saying, "It's $400" and "It's just a booster pack." He picked them up but acted like he didn't even want me to touch or look at them. The way he treated me made me feel judged and discriminated against because of my appearance. I can't say for sure why he treated me that way, but I definitely felt unwelcome. To be fair, the other employees I've dealt with here have been very friendly. My issue is specifically with the employee with side bangs. Customers shouldn't be judged by how they look or dress. If you hate your job, find another one that better suits your attitude and personality. Don't ruin other people's day because you're unhappy. Life is too short to stay somewhere you don't want to be.

That's my rule: if I step into a game or comic shop, I have to buy something. It's a hard habit to break at this point. From the outside, the store looks massive -like it might contain the multiverse. But once inside, the retail selection isn't quite as big as it appeared to be. BUT... it's got great stuff. Solid board game options. Plenty of space for RPGs and card games. It's the kind of store that's clearly built around social gatherings and play. Spacious and not cramped. A rare find in a city setting. There's an upstairs and downstairs, but those seemed more dedicated to table games you can meet up and play rather than shopping, so I didn't explore too much. The staffer working was friendly and helpful. She even checked if they had the new Monster Manual. Unfortunately, they didn't. That was a letdown. I mean, it's been out for months. If a game store doesn't carry the NEW core D&D books, especially right after a new edition drops, it stings a bit. They had plenty of the original 5e, but not the new. Still, I wasn't leaving empty-handed. Picked up a slick set of dice and the softcover Pathfinder 2E Monster Core Pocket Edition. Gotta support the cause. Overall? I'm glad I found the place. It's a real hangout spot. Honestly, throw in some coffee and comfy chairs, and I'd post up there for hours. Coffee and dice----- it just works right? Note: The 5-stars is a soft 5 because it really doesn't deserve a 4. I just wasn't floored and wowed by the place in general. 4.5 would be perfect. But a 5 it is DESPITE they didn't have what I came to get.

I walked in and enjoyed the vibe of this shop that has been around for 20+ years. They don't have a contract with bandai yet so I got the one piece cards elsewhere else. They also have a ton of magic cards upfront. This is definitely one of the larger and newer stores in the peninsula. The staff here are super nice and patient, esp when I couldn't make up my mind on what to grab.

Never had any issues buying singles, until I came in yesterday. I came in intending to trade some cards for singles, but they didn't have any of the Pokemon singles I wanted. So instead I purchased a Japanese booster box of terastal festival. Was super excited to open these when I got home until I realized upon looking at the first pack that they were fake!! Different color on the yellow of the Pokemon written letters on the box. The "i" character on the top right of the booster box had the white square, but the plastic packs didn't. Some of the text on the back side also didn't match the ones from the original authentic box I have direct from japan. Not to mention the way the cards curved when they opened a pack. Worst part was how the staff handled the issue. Instead of acting shocked and apologetic they were questioning me on how I knew these were fake. They should know!!! If you are selling insanely high priced merch you should know how to do damage control. Not to mention one of the employees opened up a pack and tried to tell me they were real. As if resealed cards don't exist. And before anyone says I could just be coming back with a fake pack and passing it off. I literally bought a second pack in the store and opened it in front of them. These guys are shady. I wouldn't buy from them in my opinion. I posted some pictures of the fakes and real cards. Authentic pics are labeled real in pic. Upon walking in the door, I peeked to my right and saw a magazine rack selling Fangoria. Right on. Also, saw the fella' behind the register and immediately went up to him to ask where the new comics were, as it was a Wednesday. He kind of points to his right and says "It's where the sign for new comics are." I couldn't see it. There were racks in front of where I was standing and that section. I asked so I wouldn't have to wander through the game tables and other merchandise. I was looking for new comics. Thought it was a little rude, but it didn't really bother me. So I get to the new comics section. It's completely unorganized. Or maybe it was organized, but by someone with an OCD disorder that only makes sense to them. Is it that hard to have DC, Marvel, Boom, IDW etc separated nicely to look through the issues by company? It was madness. Also, the comic racks were a bit ramshackle. A lot of the books were bent, worn, and some even looked folded in half when I was looking. I wouldn't buy a six dollar comic for any reason in that kind of condition, considering they were supposed to be "brand new". I continued to look through the stuffed, unorganized shelves to find something to buy as what I was looking for was nowhere to be found. That's fine and I'll get into that in a moment, but I wasn't just/only looking for the "hot" comics right then. Image is always coming out with new number ones that look interesting, and I couldn't find anything. Seriously, I wanted to spend some money, so I'm trying to find absolutely anything. Didn't happen. So, I go back up to the register and just ask about the titles I'm looking for. Every title I ask about I get a two word answer, "Sold Out". Now, this is fair, I was there late and the fellow told me that his patrons are usually coming in around noon and buying the new books up then. Bummer for me. Seems if your stock gets eaten up that quick, you'd order a few more copies of said titles, but I don't know how to run a comic shop. Who knows? Okay, better things. It isn't really my bag, but it seemed like they had a lot of boxes of back issues. I doubt that place is going to let you grab a key issue for cheap, but it's probably worth checking out if you're trying to complete a run. So, that seemed decent. They had a shelf of trades, nothing caught my eye because I either have already read or own the ones I would be interested in, but I suppose it would be worth a look. They were all fairly older, and it didn't seem like they were discounted at all. I did not exactly peruse them to see if that was the case, just seemed that way. That's okay, though because it's far better to support an LCS than just snagging them online. I saw that they had some gaming tables, and some folks were doing just that. It's always a nice addition to a store. I didn't even head in that section, so I have no insight on cool boardgames, RPGs, or card game selection. Could be great. The sign on the outside says "Anime Imports", instead of "CoastsideComics", so maybe that's what they do and comics are just a backseat now. I don't have the option to get there early, so I could have started a pull list and waited a couple of months for that to start getting going. I'm buying about fifteen-eighteen titles a month, but I couldn't get over how they treat their shelved comics, so I decided not to. Conclusion: This is not a store for me. Not organized. About a quarter of the books look like they've been read over and over and kept in someone's back pocket. No way to pop in and get something new after one pm. Register guy was okay, but not very helpful with the slightest touch of...I dunno, it wasn't completely rude, just kind of unwelcoming to an obviously new to this store customer. I tried desperately to find something to buy, and I'm a comic guy! I would have bought anything that looked remotely interesting. Just didn't have anything. I guess that's it.
