Great customer service, Leslie was on it with a quick and accurate quote. They provided a great job and I will return for sure. I knocked a star off since the sand blasting didn't get a couple of bits of the old material off and then it got coated- minor though. Allegedly they have the largest oven on island, and they have a huge selection of coating texture/colors. The place was a bit hard to find, around the back side of a huge industrial building. I recently took an aftermarket bumper and brush guard for my FJ Cruiser here because it had a pretty good bit of rust on it and looked pretty bad. Since it's so expensive to have another one shipped to Hawaii, (about $1200 dollars for a new one), I decided to try to have mine sandblasted and powder coated. I went to several powder coat specialist and the guys at Sunset Powder Coating gave me a very reasonable quote and were very knowledgeable. I decided to give them a try and could not have been happier with the end results. It looks great!!! Having been in the automotive service industry for many years, I'm a tough judge of my fellow businesses but the staff here know what their talking about and quickly sold me. Their work speaks for itself, so if you need something powder coated, I'm confident you won't be dissapointed. I certainly wasn't and will definitely use them again as soon as the need arises. Reached out to them via their website on an inquiry. Was responded to in a very unprofessional tone and without a reason as to why they were unable to perform the work on powdercoating a set of brake calipers. The response was: "Thank you for your inquiry. We will not be able to help you." After some follow up in an attempt to get an explanation as to why the work couldn't be performed -- in another rude attempt they outlined a very generic process and said that it would be too time consuming. If their customer service is indicative of the work they provide...Stay away. read more

I needed to powder coat my 20" 3 piece wheel faces and began calling all powder coating services on island. One place didn't even respond, another quoted 425 and when I went there to drop my faces off,was told it would be over 900. I decided to check California shops and was quoted 420. Then I found Sunset Powder Coating and gave them a call. They quoted me 75 to 125 per face, but would need to see it. When I got there, the staff was extremely helpful and courteous. They said it would take approximately 10 days, but finished in 5. When I got there to pick up I paid 420 for their services and my faces came out amazing. We have had sunset powdercoat everything from garage door track and hardware to a single u channel used on an uneven floor to make the weatherstrip line up. Every time they have been friendly and professional. They give great advice, set realistic expectations and meet or beat their scheduled completion date every time. We took four aluminum panels with artwork cutouts to Sunset to have them sandblasted, primed and powder coated. We choose Sunset because they were friendly and seemed knowledgeable on the phone and also when we dropped off the panels. They did them faster than promised which was good. However when we picked them up we noted a few areas where the paint was very thin or bare - more so on some panels than on others. What really bothered us were the immediate and apparently well practiced excuses. The panels were detailed and they said coverage could not get in the narrow passages. When pointed out that they did considerably better on another panel that was identical, but that fact was ignored. There was no offer to repaint the panels. They insisted, "It is what it is" - repeated several times (it has now become our new expression around the house). They did offer to touch up the panels with a Q-tip while we waited. We decided to do it ourselves; I didn't trust their willingness to do a thorough job. They did give us a packet of dry powder with verbal instructions to mix it with acetone. We touched up the panels (about 20 places on one, 15 on another, three on a third, and none on the fourth). Don't count on their quality control. Well, that's my review - "it is what it is." read more
