My toddler has been attending Meadows since she was 10 months old, and we have nothing but good things to say. The staff and teachers are communicative, kind, and caring. We know that our daughter is always supported and loved, and she has adored her teachers in each of the classrooms she has entered. The school has a good balance of learning and play, and as our child has moved into the toddler wing, there are more and more interactive activities for her to do. The leadership builds community within the families and really loves when they are involved, and they are also communicative about issues/changes to schedules, etc. We have had few problems, but when something comes up, the issue is handled right away. One of the things that we love is the diversity within the school and the celebration of so many different holidays. We get to share some of our traditions and traditions we get to learn about the other students', which is something that we had been looking for in a school. We are so so happy that our child is at Meadows, and we look forward to our continued relationship with her school! read more

It started well, but by the end of the first week I was told I was reported to child services. My son had the greenish birthmarks (aka Mongolian birthmarks) on his back/bum area and they thought they were bruises. I have no issues about reporting and I think it's commendable that there's a process in place to protect children. But I was disappointed at the lack of education, awareness and understanding that these birthmarks are common in babies and that they come and go. And the fact it was reported 5 days after we started there makes me wonder about their process. I'm convinced there's a better, less traumatizing way to confirm suspicions but the directors didn't seem interested in seeing it that way. I withdrew my son as I was uncomfortable with the way they handled the situation. read more

Both my kids went here for 2 years and it was nothing but tears when it was time to move on to kindergarten. You can tell it's a family run establishment as they are all so welcoming and genuinely care for the kids. We had an issue with a daycare in the area and made the difficult decision to try to transition my son to a new school before his baby sister was born. This was a lot for him, but we were largely sold after discussing the issue with one of the directors at the school. She was very supportive, reasonable, and empathetic to our situation. Since we have moved around a lot, our son has been in no less than 4 schools. Without a doubt, Meadow's School was the best. We've learned over time that pedagogical methodologies and facilities matter far less than whether the staff practice what they preach to provide a nurturing environment where every child can feel cherished. Meadow's School has that, and it extends from all of the great teachers to the directors. The passion for childcare is real and I would recommend this school to any parent. My son started at this school when he was 2.5yrs old. I watched how the teachers and aides cared for him, addressing his concerns and fears. As parents, I had no qualms dropping him off and received daily updates, either verbal or written. They were also quick to note changes in behavior, for the better or worse, so that we could work on it and address the root cause. My 9-month old son is a student at the Meadow's School and I cannot say enough about this place; from the teachers to the directors, everyone is so friendly and helpful. The school and classrooms are always neat and clean. They have themed rooms, provide lunch and have an adorable, covered, outdoor play area. This is a really good school. This is the third day care that my daughters have ever been to and by far this is probably the best one. They are laid back and easy to work with however they are still very professional and it seems like everything runs smoothly. I've been to daycares where teachers are moved back and forth and there isn't much stability because the administrators are trying to save money and move teachers around and figure out ratios for teachers and students but at this daycare I know who my daughter's teacher is and I can count on that everyday. The other thing is that they actually provide breakfast lunch and a snack which is awesome because that was always so time-consuming for me in the mornings. read more

Both of my children attend The Meadows School. The teachers are fantastic and the owners truly care for the children. Both of my children started when they were babies. The infant room(s) have teachers who treat the babies like they are family. As the children grow, they are moved to age appropriate rooms. They are taught many skills and the teachers even help with potty training. One of the best decisions that my wife and I made was choosing the school to care for our children during the day. read more

I have visited almost all the daycares in Rutherford and E. Rutherford and this ok but not great. I think they are licensed for 90 children so there's alot of room for the kids.... The place looks secure, spacious and has alot to offer in terms of science and arts programs but I've decided not to send my child there after the tour. The school is out of the way, on the more expensive end and not very clean. It needs more than a good dusting and cleaning but a total rug replacement! The rugs were very dirty with stains and other debris and looked very worn out. Unlike other cleaner schools where there's a no shoe policy, this one allows shoes, on rugs no less! When I visited, I see kids sitting and playing on the dirty rugs for circle time. I have heard some parents who passed up on Meadows complained about this but since I'm not as much of a cleaning freak, I had to see for myself if it's tolerable. Sadly it isn't! If the owner implements a no shoe policy, cleans the place better and replace the rugs, I may reconsider. read more

My 3.5yrs old son has been going to the meadows school since he was 6 months old, and our experience with them has been nothing short of awesome. The owners Heather and Cindy are very understanding, caring and always there to give a ear to your concerns. I feel they really care for the kids, and this is not just a business for them. Heather is so humorous, and that shows in all the creative banners and notices she puts up. My son comes back with a project every day, yes everyday. They give a detailed sheet of what was taught that day, what my son ate, how much he ate, and how the day went for him...this report is very helpful in getting a glimpse into my son's day. They offer all sorts of additional activity like yoga, gym, violin, keyboard, and being a working mom, I find it very useful because I don't have to pickup/drop my son at another location. All the teachers that my son has been with have been very caring, so we feel confident leaving our son with them. Overall, my husband and I love meadows school! read more

Seems like a good day care especially for the price. After two days of sending my kid, I received an email of RSV outbreak and my daughter was not feeling well that day. Long story short, she ended up in the ER for respiratory distress. Nasal swab confirmed that she caught RSV, rhinovirus and adenovirus. It has been three weeks and she is still recovering from bronchiolitis. They were very nice to refund my money as I took her out of the center immediately as I was too afraid seeing her placed on oxygen therapy at the hospital. However I went back today to get some of her things and drop off the door keys. I noted the key fobs still worked and nobody ever deactivated my keys after I pulled my daughter out of daycare. This is a big security concern. When I walked in, there was nobody in the office. I asked an employee for assistance but she told me she is on her lunch break. I also observed an employee holding a baby who had thick nasal discharge running from her nose but nobody was wiping her and the employee was going between different rooms (that is how viruses spread!!) I also saw my daughters old teacher Hilda and told her my daughter got very sick in her room. Hilda barely seemed to know anything and didn't even seem to care ! She just kept walking. I am a bit annoyed after getting my daughters stuff that nobody even bothered to ask how my child is feeling/recovering. Bottom line-- this is not a high quality day care center. I know all kids get sick at daycare so I was hesitant to write a review until now. Also staff do not wear masks unlike Bright Horizons! read more

This school is completely deceiving, They spend plenty of money on advertising but need to focus more on hygiene and cleanliness. The school is dirty, rarely vacuumed and students end the day full of food, dirt, paint, etc. As if they were never wiped up. To top off the dirty environment we were never notified that there was a case of pink eye that spread through teacher and students alike. Not a good environment for a child. When attempted to complain to the directors they were rarely on the premisses, questioning all sorts of New Jersey Day Care licensing laws. Do not expose your child to this! read more

Hi Moms & Dads, my son has been with this daycare for one week and I notice a big change in his overall mood and wellbeing. He was with The learning experience in East Rutherford for 3 years formerly. I was wrong with thinking the big branded corporate daycares are better then any other daycares. The truth and the major difference that I have learned over the years is that one is all about generating revenue especially if its corporate operated and meadow school, privately owned has owners who care about children and their well being. Ever since my child became articulate about his experience with former childcare I notice he was very upset going to school and hesitated a lot. With Meadow school, Miss Monda and miss Crystal made him feel comfortable immediately. The owners are nice and won't push you to enroll ( breath of fresh air). I am considering enrolling my second child as well. read more

This school has done wonders for both our children. From the moment my husband and I entered this school in search of a safe and homey place for my then 4 month old son, we got such a great feeling as we entered The Meadow's School. The teachers in the infant room gave us a sense of peace and reassurance that money can not buy. When you are forced to leave your kids in the hands of "strangers" it is so tough to do but the care and love the staff at this school provide for both our sons is amazing, and they are far from being "strangers" they are FAMILY to us. My sons never did/do cry going into the school as they feel like it is a second home. I HIGHLY recommend this school. And fee very confident in doing so. As a mother who wished she could have been home with her kids, this daycare/school has given me such support and confidence in the fantastic job and excellent care they provide for my kids. I couldn't ask for anything better. My kids have and are learning so much that I know I couldn't provide at home. read more

I'm sorry to hear that the previous reviewer had a negative experience. Personally, I have had an excellent experience with Meadows School. My daughter is 2 years old and has been attending Meadows for just over a year now. She loves it - the teachers and directors all truly care about the kids. Could they be better "washed up" at the end of the day? Probably. Does the occasional lack of organization get annoying occasionally? Sure. But let's face it - kids play and get dirty. I was a little annoyed with that at first, but then I thought about my priorities. My daughter is well taken care of throughout the day and I know that the teachers all care very deeply for the kids. My daughter comes home happy and is happy to go to school in the morning. She talks about how much fun she has (and I know that she is in a place where she is safe, having fun, and learning new things) - and, at the end of the day, that matters more to me than a stain on her shirt. read more
