I have been going here since they first opened. I love the clothing and I agree the prices are slightly higher. I would buy a lot more if prices were more reasonable, but its a niche business. Most of the items come from other countries . I will buy one or two things I love and if possible come back for a sale. They always have excellent customer service and strive to get customers in and out in a timely manner.The store stays neat and organized, you see people straightening and helping customers to keep it that way. The organization of the store also helps with giving fantastic customer service. They can always find and suggest additional items. read more

My new favorite hippie shop at the beach. Stopped in for the first time and everyone was so sweet. Tons of clothing in lots of sizes, bags, incense, and all things hippie. They have CBD oil, but no gummies - but they do have CBD patches, which work great. I'm sure I'll make sure I stop in to Sunshine Octopus during every Rehoboth trip. read more

I had merely visited the store to check things out. Haven't been here in about 5 years which was before the pandemic. Upon entering we saw masks were still required and we did ask for them. The elder gentleman who decided to freak out and make snide comments to other customers who "he appreciates still bring their masks" while shopping and contemplating purchases. After the 4th comment, I grabbed my girlfriend and left. Came to ship, not to be judged. Oh and Covid (like the flu and common cold) is not going away so there's that. Horrible experience from a place I once had fond memories of. Glass selection is also trash. read more

DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS Around noon today, my friend and I visited the store to get incense and to look around. I've been going to this store for years and have never once had an issue with the service or any of the employees. I walked into the store with coffee in my hand, and was immediately talked sternly to about the no drink policy-- which I was unaware of. As I was trying on tops, the manager of the store had a pushy attitude towards me, and tried to sway me quickly out of the dressing room. I decided not to try on my last item for this reason, but simply decided to ignore her. After I tried on the tops, it seemed like I was being rushed to checkout, and the manager's demeanor towards me was very harsh and unsettling. As I was looking at incense, my friend was standing over the case displaying bongs and marijuana devices-- which I didn't even notice and simply wanted a picture of her in the cool store. After I took the picture, I was yelled at by the manager and was honestly stunned because I didn't see the small handmade sign that read "don't take pictures". If the manager had been cordial with me, I would've completely understood, but was more hesitant because of how shocked I was in reaction to her harsh tone. The manager continued to be pushy with me after I had deleted the picture, and accused me of trying to lie about it. I have never once been accused of "having an attitude" or being a "liar" in my entire 17 years of living and I'm honestly heartbroken that someone would take time out of their day to be so blatantly disrespectful to a CUSTOMER. For reference, I'm a 17-year-old girl. I struggle with anxiety and left the store after purchasing my items, because I genuinely couldn't stop shaking and had to take a deep breath to calm down. I decided to walk back to the store to get the manager's information, and as it turns out, the salesperson who was so rude to me was the designated manager. She called me a "baby" for crying and fabricated stories about me "talking about the marijuana devices". I never once mentioned them and only noticed them after the fact. She also told my friend who was in the store with me that she "had anxiety too and doesn't cry in situations like this so she didn't understand why I was crying about it". I found this disrespectful and manipulative. People deal and cope with different levels of anxiety in varying ways and NO ONE has the right to tell someone how to deal with their mental health. After calling my dad, he wanted to speak with the manager for how she mistreated me and was incredibly upset and riled up. This isn't to disregard how he spoke to the manager-- because he did use a very harsh tone and use some vulgar language-- but it was somewhat understandable considering the manager's actions. After being yelled at by the manager, I was screamed at to stay outside and wait for the owners. The owners came in and I explained what had happened. I found the male owner to be INCREDIBLY disrespectful, as he constantly felt the need to mock me and my experience that he saw as insignificant. He called me a "princess" for being upset about the situation and believed that I was fabricating the whole experience today. My face was bright red with tears all over and my hands were visibly shaking. The owner laughed at me multiple times for my complaints, which I found childish and inappropriate. Never once did I feel like I was respected in this business. It's baffling that this business has been around for this long-- considering the countless bad reviews from their customers and uncomfortable environment. This is simply not okay and shouldn't be tolerated, and I'm honestly traumatized. Do not support this business. read more

I have been coming here for years - every trip to Rehoboth. I have dresses I've worn for forever - the colors hold up well. They have sizes for EVERYONE, big and small. They have tapestries, bags, all sort of accessories. It smells really good in there, too. They have great zen! read more

Walked by this store on a gloomy, cold Saturday morning in January and it not only brightened my day but my wardrobe as well! Such fun options to choose from! Husband and I visited Sunshine Octopus a few days ago, and the staff were incredibly patient and kind with us as we spent at least 30 minutes trying on various tie-dye options, even when Husband got confused and forgot which tie-dye he'd tried on already... They were really helpful, and we walked out with a new party wardrobe for the foreseeable future! The more I visit other shops in the area, the more I appreciate what a unique place Sunshine Octopus is. Definitely a 5-star experience, and an oasis in a desert of pastel beach dresses and aggressive t-shirts. read more

I found this store when we were here last year and bought a few things.We decided to come back again this year, I wanted to come back again, so I did, bought a couple things and will be back next year. Very cool story that's been a staple of the DE beaches for many years. The main reason I'm writing this review is because Sunshine Octopus is the first store we've EVER seen carrying Sure Design shirts and dresses. Sure Design is an awesome company and a sponsor of the Duncan Trussell Family Hour. I gave the employees at Sunshine Octopus one of my DTFH stickers, so I hope the owner will be OK with displaying it in the store. I'll have to agree with the clerks not being friendly, usually when the owners are in it is different. You can buy the same type of clothes at several locations downtown. It's the wall behind the cash register that is different. Lots of different stickers for all beliefs, and a little bit of jewelry. Catchy name, but that's about it. read more

I've been stopping in this cute little hippy shop for years but after this past trip I'm hesitant on going back, my 3 friends and I stopped in quick before dinner just to browse especially because I like to buy from the sale rack (even though it's very expensive even on sale). After finding a dress I had liked I was showing my friends in the front of the store and then even asked my sister to hold my purse for me and then I continued into the very cheap dressing room. After being in there for a minute or so an employee ran over and screamed at me "how many items do you have" but in a very aggressive way and mind you I've been buying clothes from there and never had an issue before this but then an employee came running from the back mid lunch break when she heard the employee yell to me and then when I was asking my friends what they thought of my potential purchase the employee and other girl just sat in the corner staring me down as if I was about to rob them. I was very disappointed because it made my entire party feel very awkward and unwelcomed, and mind you I'm a very friendly person so even during the checkout the lady who previously yelled at me wouldn't even say a word to me. It was just a really weird occurrence and unfortunate that they had to treat their customers like they did because prior to this they were always friendly. This experience makes me not want to return nor any of my friends because it made us feel the uncomfortable and if I do hopefully there is different employees working. read more
