My daughter (age 3yrs) had the joy and pleasure of attending this daycare and I loved everything about their facility. All of the staff are loving, kind, helpful and truly care for the children. It feels like a village and all the teachers care for your babies, regardless of which class they're in. My daughter was able to be potty trained by Ms. Retta in just 2 weeks! It felt like she was part of a family. Every night before going to bed, she would exclaim "I'm going to wake up in the morning and see my friends and Ms. Retta!" They teach your kids about Jesus, have a phenomenal communication system, and are always willing to go the extra mile. We enjoyed our time here and will always call this place home. My two boys have been enrolled here for the last 1.5 years and they love it. I also love it because it's a Christian based establishment and it shows through the teachers' kindness and genuine love for children. I know when I drop them off they are going to be safe and well taken care of. Another great point is they're the most reasonably priced place around and welcome toddlers at 6am, babies at 6:45a. (They even help with potty training!) Would give it more than 5 stars if I could! read more

We have had both of our kids go there until we moved 20 miles away. We STILL drove the extra to take them because #1 we felt SAFE having them there, #2 there is VERY low teacher turnover (in fact many of the parents went there as kids and had the same teachers!) #3 the kids LOVE it there. Side note: I noticed Brandy D's review and there had been an influx in Saginaw not at Sunshine (check with Saginaw PD if you don't believe me) with thieves stealing purses out of UNLOCKED cars, if you took time to read the notice or even ask someone, they would have told you the same. Also, the ratio is lower than required we have never seen too many kids and not enough teachers. read more

My daughter has attended Sunshine for the last couple years and they have been amazing with her. We removed her from her previous daycare because of bullying issues and we had none of that here. They are not the fanciest nor the highest tech but they will love on your kids and protect them with everything they have. My daughter has had the best experience here and unfortunately for all of us she has just outgrown them and is moving on to 6th grade. Updating to add my daughter still attends Sunshine, she still loves it & I still think they are the best daycare in town. I know I'm biased because we've never been to another in Saginaw but we've honestly had no desire after scoring huge with this gem. The prices have only gone up MAYBE $5-10 a week in the 3 years she's been there for after school care. It's very, very clean. And the staff are truly the best. The same folks are there now as when she started almost 4 years ago. I'm honest enough to admit I'm a bit of a helicopter mom and I've never had a concern or issue with Sunshine. They handle any "girl drama" (which is par for the course- let's be honest!) very calmly, proactively & tactfully. I truly feel like my daughter is with family when she's in their care. In the summer, they take the schoolers on 2-3 field trips a week. All optional & all for a nominal fee- just to cover admission. My daughter LOVES it. I was hesitant to let her go to the water park (Saginaw Rec Center) but they assured me only strong swimmers are allowed to go (they do a swimming test the first Friday trip of the summer). Well, it's been a long time, but I went here in the 80's. I have a different experience than the parents, but it really was the best day care! I went there from the time I was 8-13 (which was really to give me something to do at age 13, and because I loved the place so much). First of all, all of the staff is great. They are very caring. Another thing is; there is always something to do! When I was there, there were arcade games and we were always doing activities. Another thing were the field trips! We were always going somewhere and doing something! Putt Putt, Showbiz, swimming lessons and sometimes Wet and Wild. I still know people from Sunshine! In fact, I remember occasionally seeing other day cares and feeling really bad for them because they didn't get to be a Sunshine Kid! read more

My family has used Sunshine Playhouse for roughly the last 9 years, both my daughters came thru Sunshine and never once have I had to worry about them when left for the day. The teachers and staff love my kids like their own and helped them learn so much in preparation for kindergarten and beyond! It's an older school (opened in the late 70's) with great teachers that have been around a long time. The rates are very affordable and my kids have made some great friends here. My youngest is finishing her time at Sunshine now but I guarantee we will be back by to say hello to all the great people there and I will continue to speak highly and recommend this daycare to everyone i know! I went here for a tour and was not impressed. We were checking the place out to sign my son up for preschool. He has been in daycare most of his life so he knows the drill fairly well. It looked promising. I saw that they'd been in business since 1979 and they had some good reviews so they must be doing something right. Wrong. The play area outside looked like island of misfit toys. While waiting for the tour I noticed a sign about watching your items due to theft. THEFT!?! That's such a big deal here they had to put a sign up for it?? For a place that calls itself "Sunshine Playhouse" it was so dark and depressing. Not an ounce of light coming in. It reminded me of a prison. And I could hear the noise from the classrooms that sounded chaotic and out of control. We powered through a short tour. The classrooms were small and crammed to the brim with old books and toys. Barely any room to move around. The child to teacher ratio was way off. This resulted in kids just governing themselves. It didn't look like there was an organized curriculum. Way too many children for one teacher to handle. I could barely hear what she was saying to me because of the noise level. I noticed a pillow that I assumed was for naptime in the hallway floor almost black because it was so filthy. I was so confused. I'd read great reviews and even a parent on the way out told me he has great experiences there, but when I walked in everything in me screamed "NO." Their prices were very attractive but I guess you get what you pay for. read more
