I had a very bad experience with this company. They installed a heat pump and two ETS units for me. First, I had issues with the heat pump. They didn't fill it with enough freon. Then the ETS wasn't working well. After a few months, they realized they had forgotten to install a fan in the ETS. The other ETS stopped switch burned and almost caused a fire in the house in the coldest days of the year. I called them and I booked an appointment, but they didn't show up. So I called and they said they were busy with something else and scheduled another appointment for the next day. Guess what.. they didn't show up again and nobody notified me or anything. I contacted them again and they said the electrician tested positive for COVID and there was 1 cm of snow on the ground. DON'T deal with this company. Their technicians are not qualified and show no respect to the customer's time. read more

From start to finish, Sunshine Renewable Energy has been absolutely fantastic. My wife and I started looking for a heat pump and didn't know where to start. We called a handful of different vendors, but it was so hard to tell who was good and who was sketchy. We had a good feeling about Sunshine, right from the start. They have a fantastic website, which really beats putting signage up on telephone poles. Sunshine were the first company to return our call. The friendly guy on the phone (Ian) left a voice mail AND a follow up email. Scheduling the quote was a breeze. When Sunshine showed up for the quote they were friendly and very knowledgeable. We felt stupid during and after some of our other vendor visits. We are young home owners, not grizzly tradespeople. Phil from Sunshine, on the other hand, was patient and answered all of our questions and generally treated us like cool dudes.. We really felt like he had our best interests at heart. The quote was sent promptly, and although it wasn't the lowest of the four quotes we received, we had no hesitation in picking Sunshine. There is great value in dealing with friendly,trustworthy people. The unit they suggested seemed great as well - score! On installation day, two installers and an electrician were at our door at 8am. We had our choice or 8am, 11am or 1pm..I'm still not sure why we chose 8am (too early). The guys were pretty rad and they worked fast. It was a little scary watching someone drill a 3 inch hole through the side of your house, but it was to allow the sweet sweet energy efficient heat in, so we didn't mind. After about two hours, we high fived the install team and it was done. New heat pump success story! read more

To start I called to get appointment from Sunshine Renewable Energy to get service on 4 mini's because of not performing up to par and making noise. I was told they just need to be cleaned. I was told it be a week before someone can come to service which I was ok with but after more than 2 weeks go by I was scheduled for a appointment for the next week. The kid that was sent who shows up in a rundown VW who was late showing up to scheduled time and he tells me that he's just a apprentice and I had to help him on the job because he was alone which again I'm ok with but thought how unprofessional. He left the job without telling me. Me thinking he was outside doing whatever he was suppose to do on outside unit but was not the case, he left leaving his mini pressure washer cleaning unit behind. I called them back to let them know about the equipment that was left back. On the invoice it states how they serviced in and outside units-not true and units still not working right and called another company to fix units. not happy at all with them read more

We are very dissapointed with both the product and the service that we received from this company. With excitement, over a year ago we set out to purchase a heat pump with the anticipation of saving a considerable amount on our electricity bill. This is not a small purchase! We paid $3600. When spending so much on something of this sort, it needs to pay for itself in a few years to make it worth the investment. And that is what it is supposed to be - an investment. We were irritated by the unit right off the batt, as it always made a humming sound which got on our nerves - and this is of course in our main living space. We would even close our bedroom door at night - which is counter intuitive - so we didn't have to hear it in order to sleep. After a couple of months the noise got very bad and we called Sunshine to have a look at it. A part was replaced and the unit was very quiet afterwards, which was amazing as it had a noise from the start. Why did the installer not test the unit before he left? We thought from the get go that it was supposed to have a noise. Not long after - within a couple of months - the noise became very loud and irritating again. Another service call and it is determined that the motor has gone. By the way, it takes over a week to get a call back when you have a problem, another week or so for someone to get here to look at it, and another few weeks to get parts. So the motor got ordered and someone comes to install it who doesn't know what they're doing. After about 8 months the motor goes again. This time the person doing the service call thinks the last motor got installed too far in and slowly wore out due to rubbing. Wonderful. Of course they are replacing parts under warranty, but here's the thing: you're suppose to save a good chunk of money by having a heat pump right? I have been told about 40% savings and possibly more. Because the motor wasn't installed properly we hardly saved anything. I compared the year before and the year of having the heat pump and we only saved 15%. At this rate it will take ten years for the unit to pay for itself and we may not live here by then, and reap none of the rewards. The second new motor just got replaced and each day the noise gets louder. First of all I believe we got a lemon since there was an irritating sound from the begining, and it seems the people installing the parts are doing so incorrectly, causing them to wear down and for us to not save even close to the amount we should! Also, with someone inexperienced jacking around in it we have no confidence in the product anymore. We could have spent $3600 in a much better way. We would have been better off to just continue with the base board heaters - at least they don't make any noise! Extremely remorseful that we went with Sunshine and with this unit all together. It pains us to have wasted so much money, and that after so many issues and so many phone calls with the company that we still don't have a resolution. I think this company would benefit from some consistency in who they send for service calls. Whenever possible, that the same person is sent to the same house each time. We have seen four different people (not including the team who installed it). read more

Very difficult people to deal with. Received a quote for work required at $400 to $600 which I agreed to pay. Weeks later I was sent an invoice for over $1250 and all the work was not completed. As well, they left a hole in the side of our furnace which they refused to pay, saying that the technician that provided the quote no longer worked there. I agreed to pay the top amount if the work quoted was finished, but the owners refused, and then turned the account over to collections. Potential customers.... STAY AWAY!!! read more

Had the worst experience with this company servicing the two-year-old heat pump in my apartment building. When it was installed they left a huge mess in my apartment. It took me forever to clean all the drywall dust off the floor. I went three weeks this year without heat in January because it was broken and it's is broken again and they've been "fixing" it for the past four months. They didn't come in to see the unit but randomly replaced parts on the outside, then, didn't come in to see if it fixed the problem (it didn't). Finally came to see it, left without telling me anything, replaced another part and *again* didn't come inside to see if it worked (it didn't and it still broken). While the parts are still under warranty, they are still being paid for their inefficient, badly managed time, and complete lack of communication. I honestly don't think this company is qualified to fix these units. read more

Made an appointment to get a consult. After an hour of them not showing up I called their office. They apologized they double booked and the guy was not going to make it and asked if I wanted to reschedule, I said no. I took time off work for this company to come and see me. What will there service be like if they cant even keep an appointment or even notify me of a scheduling problem. Very un-professional. read more
