I am a Marine here on Pendleton who has orders to Texas. I called and left a message for Rik to see when I could get in for a tint job on my Jeep Wrangler since (1) it is legal for me to have my windows tinted out there, and (2) It is way too hot not to have them tinted. Right away he called me back. When I told him I was planning a trip on the weekend he opened up his shop, even though he was closed, in order to get my Jeep tinted. He is very knowledgeable and informative about the different types of tint on the market. Make sure you are getting a lifetime warranty in writing, which he is more than willing to accommodate. This will save you down the line if the product or workmanship fails. His product is a little more pricey but it is well worth the peace of mind that you won't end up with a cloudy or discolored window a few years down the line. Rik takes great pride in his craft. Okay San Diego here is the truth. My teenage son bought his first car 71 VW Baja Bug. He wanted the rear windows tinted. We called around to get the best deal and to save him $. U DA MAN, Rik!! Did an outstanding tint job on my daughter's BMW 328i...daughter was very happy. Watched him as he put his talented skills to work throughout the process...AMAZING. Definitely the best tint work I've ever seen. Truly the professional in the tinting industry. He's meticulous and a perfectionist----what you want in a tinter!! I have had a total of five cars tinted by Rik and will continue to go to him in the future. My first two cars were tinted while his shop was on base back in 2007. I was surprised to see that area closed down upon returning from a three year deployment to Japan. My wife and I immediately started the hunt to find the greatest tinter again. Little did we know he setup his own place just outside of base still within Marine territory. I will always find him to tint my cars, even if retires I will track him down and beg him to come out of retirement. :D my first two cars were tinted in 2007 and the tint is still perfect. They survived the harsh weather in Missouri for three years without any imperfections and they were not garaged, still have all five cars to prove it. I was amused by the sole negative review here posted because someone didn't get her phone calls answered immediately and then accused the owner of "lollygagging" when a customer was standing in the front door passing time while his car windows were being tinted. When I go to a five-star restaurant, I expect that there is going to be a line before I am seated. Sunslayer may not have a bunch of staffers to answer the phone and serve coffee to patrons in the waiting lounge, but that allows Rick to offer excellent service at reasonable prices. I have now had Rick tint the windows on two RVs for me and I could not be more pleased with the results. Craftsmen that care about their work tend to take their time and devote full attention to the project at hand. If you have to wait a day or two for a return call in order to get an appointment, consider it time well-invested! read more

Rick was great he has awsome customer service he was very informative and even educated myself and my wife on the different types of window tint from the bacic stock from the deaership window tints and many different options he had my vehice done within a few hours and it looked awsome so i referred my buddy to him and he ended up taking his ski boat to sunslayer window tinting and agaig i could not believe the outcome of tinting the boat windshield before the new tint we had some glare but now my buddy is super stoked NO SUN GARE AT ALL and at dusk when docking not a problem you can still see perfectly as if the windshield on the boat was clear what a great job i am now referring everybody i know to visit sunslayer when in the san diego area the windows are finished by the time you get back from lunch a block away THANKS RICK you ROCK buddy read more

I found Sunslayer on Yelp. After reading the reviews (and seeing every review at 5 stars) I decided this was the place to get my brand new Passat's windows done. Rick was very helpful and explained the differences in the window tint options. I chose to get all of my windows tinted. Unfortunately there was a defect in the tint of my back window. After allowing the appropriate time for the tint to dry I returned to show Rick the defect. He immediately scheduled an appointment for me to bring my car back in and he replaced the tint at no charge. (He held true to his warranty!) Top of the line tinting materials (Lumar - the BEST you can get with lifetime warranty) and top quality workmanship (lifetime warranty, also). ( I did my homework before having work done.) I called Rik(owner) on a Wednesday and got an opening the very next day. He was very cool and welcoming and knows how to treat the customer with respect. His prices are way cheaper than other shops I had called throughout the OC/SD area. And his work..outstanding. Rick worked on my car 2 months ago. Rick offered a great price do do all my windows. We then had a discussion about my panoramic sunroof because I love driving with sunroof cover back because it makes my cabin so bright. He made the excellent suggestion to put the cerramic up and 15s all around. He gave me an excellent price. The reason i say excellent is the quality of workmanship and materials. Rick is hands down one of the best tinters in all San Diego. I took my 2013 Subaru Wrx to get tinted about a year ago and he did an amazing job on it. He talked to me for about 30 minutes explaining my options for tint. I ended up going with 30% in the front and 15% in the back. But aswell he convinced me to get my front windshield air80 ceramic tint. By far the best decision I have made. For being one of the first windshields done by him in ceramic it came out flawless. Rick is a pro! He tinted my Jeep Wrangler and did great work. He guided me through all available options and left the choice up to me with no pressure. He uses quality tint, you get what you pay for. Rik had tinted the windows on my Chrysler 300C a few years back when he was working on Camp Pendleton. When I got my 370Z I wanted him to tint it as well. When I went to base and found the shop was closed I was crushed. What a wonderful small world to find that he opened his own place. First off I have to mention that Rick took time out his off day to schedule an appt with me. Also I noticed a defect a week later and notified him, and he came in on his day off again to fix it. He also quoted me a price before seeing my car and stuck to it. These thigs really speak to his character. He he wrapped my back windows and did ceramic on the front and a week later it looks great. Tint can be tricky on newer Volkswagen but this proved no match for Rick. He's friendly and knowledgeable and a true craftsman. read more
