Two thumbs up! Jacob did a professional job replacing 4 rotted red oak hardwood floor planks. The red oak planks were the original 77 year old hard wood flooring. He gave a complimentary visit for an estimate, which was fair and reasonable. Jacob had great communication, letting me know when he would arrive, and then being on time. The first day he removed the rotted planks with an orbital saw, which was more delicate than a circular saw and kept the neighboring planks safe, and the room less dusty. He had a miter saw to cut precisely. He did the cutting outside to keep sawdust at a minimum. He replaced the red oak planks and stained them the first day. The second day he buffed the planks, and did the first coat of seal. Then he took a break for it to dry, and came back later to put on a second coat. Perfect. He left the room and yard spotless. Honest, great work, great communication, and reliable. I would recommend him to anyone who is wanting to repair or rebuild their hardwood floors. read more

Superb work and customer service! I have an older home with an original hardwood floor that's probably around 70-plus years old. It's in great shape and has been sanded and polished over the years. Unfortunately, one of the floorboards had become loose in the past few months, and eventually cracked. I figured wood putty wouldn't fix it as the board was loose and damaged. Not a really big job in my opinion, but it required immediate attention. So I contacted a host of handymen and hardwood floor services to get some estimates. Most were booked, and some just suggested wood putty. One said they would come to give an estimate, but never showed up. I figured maybe it was just too small a job to bother coming out. Sunwest, however, replied in a professional manner through Yelp and sent me their contact info. Jake came by and provided me with a thorough explanation of the work that was to be done and the reasoning behind it. He was also able to answer some of my questions and was extremely knowledgeable of his craft! The quote was very competitive and I gave the OK. Jake came by a couple of days later and replaced the damaged wood piece. There was a mild concern on my part whether the new piece would match the existing floor, but Jake made it work. The next day, he came by and applied some sealant and a polyurethane coating to finish up the job. I was extremely impressed by his professionalism, mannerism, and work ethic. Yes, this was really a small job, but he treated it like he was replacing the entire house. Just a great experience for me. I'd definitely recommend Sunwest for any of your floor needs. read more

Yet when it came to the estimate your prices were gold Availability, customer service, all those things got me sold I had a crazy patch that looked pretty bad I saw it every day and it would make me mad But with skill you guys were able to fix it with a weave And now viola! No traces of ugly did you leave. Ok, so we had a pretty nasty patch job done. We removed a wall, and the flooring was U-G-L-Y. The issue was that I threw away all the old extra wood (because I'm stupid), and so when it came time, they had to install new wood. but the problem is (confirmed through multiple contractors), hardwood floor companies don't keep the same wood on stock forever. So they had to weave in the new boards, sand paper the entire floor, stain them to be as close as they could to the existing hardwood everywhere else in my house, and then add a polyurethane coat (the shiny stuff). I must say, they did a spectacular job. They were easy to work with, they guys worked hard, and man does my floor look pretty. It actually looks better than what was there before. I'm really grateful for the guys and am impressed at what they did. I can honestly say, I can NOT see where the old patch used to be. read more

We hired Sunwest Floors (Jacob) to remove the carpeting from 2 bedrooms and connecting hallway in order to refinish the original oak flooring underneath. There were several areas that needed special attention. Two floor vents had been removed and the wood installed to cover the areas had not been woven into the rest if the floor. Jacob worked skillfully, diligently and tirelessly to reweave those sections, sand, stain and seal the floors. He sealed off doorways and window coverings to minimize the dust, and he cleaned up each day. The y took 6 days to complete, and we are very happy with the restored floors. Very happy with the work and professionalism we experienced with Sunwest. Our 1937 original hardwood oak flooring has seen some things and needed a cracked board repaired that was in a high traffic area. Additionally, we needed to re-stain and coat two oak thresholds (long story, but basically a lazy cop-out from another company). Not the biggest job nor the most glamorous, but Sunwest came to our rescue and knocked the repairs out in less than a day. The results look great and I honestly couldn't be more pleased, especially for the cost. So thankful for their willingness to listen to my concerns and not turn a job down because it's too small. tl;dr: Excellent customer service. Replaced boards on my floor twice when the first repair didn't match. Sunwest was called in to repair a deep scratch on out 1931 floor. They initially replaced 3 boards where the scratch was located, but after the initial coat was dry, the boards looked noticeably different in color than the rest of the floor. Justin listened to my concerns and when he came back the next day, he removed the newly-installed boards, then we tested the color of several new boards before deciding which to install. The final install looks nearly seamless after playing with tinting and types of finishes. Excellent customer service; highly recommend. read more

Jeff and his sons did a fantastic job refinishing our hardwood floors. 1/2 of the floors are original to our home and had been hidden for the past 35 years. The other 1/2 were installed by Jeff 25 years ago. Because we wanted to change the color, Jeff had some interesting challenges to overcome. How to finish a floor under a very large refrigerator. He did a fantastic job. He had to replace several damaged pieces of wood in the original floor that had been covered for all those years - not a problem. He had to make two electrical floor outlets flush with the wood floor ( they had been raised to be flush with a carpeted floor - not a problem) And, he had to mate the newer floor which was installed to be flush with the carpet with the original floor that the carpet sat on. Not a problem. Jeff and his sons can solve any issue, with an expertise reserved only for master craftsmen. Honest, fair, excellent workmanship. We've had Sunwest back and will be using them to add additional wood floors to our home in the very near future. read more
