The last BW we stayed in was in Illinois and it was unexplainably humid inside with a terrible moldy smell so I didn't have high expectations, but this one was very comfortable. Our room was clean and bright, the air was cool and dry, no smell, huge TV, abundance of towels, across the street from a gas station, Target, a few restaurants so the location was convenient... My favorite thing was the complimentary breakfast! There was actually quite a large variety of food and beverage options, and I cannot rave enough about the woman working in there. She was constantly in and out clearing dishes, keeping the food stocked and covered, wiping up every little crumb, and making conversation with the visitors, and asking if there was anything we needed that wasn't already out, etc. she was so friendly and helpful! I don't know if/when I'll ever be in Fergus Falls again but if I am, I'd come back here. My only complaint is that of all the cable channels, somehow Food Network was missing? But we settled for HGTV.

Cottage 4, Grandma's Attic, remains our favorite and now has a wonderful view of the lake with the addition of the full side of windows. Also this year we had a special need to adjust our rental time due to illness: Barb assured us we could stay the extra days and found space even though it was the beginning of June.

We stayed in Cabin 14 and I can speak that the cabin has been completely redone (not because of us). I had the opportunity to see some of the recently remodeled cabins and they are excellent! The owners of the property are fantastic! They are so warm and welcoming! Only downside is there isn't really a beach, the shoreline is rocks so there wasn't really a space to get into the water.

As of 2015, the new owners are great. They have made many changes and improvements such as replacing the water system for the cabins and implementing resort-wide Wi-Fi. I hope the good changes continue to come. Fishing is generally good, especially for crappy, bluegill, and bass. They have boats available for rental as well. As for the resort, there are a number of water toys available such as canoes, paddle boats, etc. The swimming area has a raft that is an absolute blast to play "Tilt the Raft" or "King of the Raft." They also have a water trampoline. The costs can be pricey, with the regular cabins running around $1300/week, but overall it is definitely worth it. Weslake Resort simply has more benefits than other resorts can compete with. Would recommend!

The inside pine work on the walls was shoddy as was the caulking around the shower etc. The office/store only sells sweatshirts, hats and fuel for the boats. No grocery items of any kind, not even a snack vending machine. . Our group rented two cabins . Not once during the entire week's stay did any of the staff come to find out if we needed anything, if we were comfortable..... They also never serviced the cabins. Not once! Nor did any of the staff nor the proprietors give any of us a "thank you" for renting from them - not even when we checked out. After all common courtesy goes a long way, but that was missing as well. I did not feel welcomed and I will not be returning there - definitely did not get my moneys worth .. This Sandbay Resort of today is a far cry from the beautiful and well kept resort of fifteen years ago. There are many gorgeous resorts around that area, better maintained, better furnished -including towels which were not provided here - and less expensive.

We made this purchase during an home and garden show last winter. We met the owners at this show and they sold us a bunch of smoke and mirrors. Once we arrived we were told that our hand pick out cabin that I put a $400 deposit on was changed. The owner told me it would be an upgrade for me with no charge. The big selling point from the owner was that it was bigger. Once we entered we notice that It came with a second floor, that was no benefit to me because there was only 3 of us. We also notice that the furniture was extremely warn all though out this cabin very uncomfortable, the couch had a large piece plywood underneath the seat, made it feel like you were sitting on cement blocks. All bedding in all rooms were extremely dirty smelled like fish. I called prior to coming to verify that there were TV's and wifi in our cabin, so we could watch the NBA finals. The owner told me that there were two TV's in this cabin one would be a new 40 inch TV and there would also be WiFi. There was only one TV it was a 20 year old 13" TV and no WiFi. The big kicker for my family was that we were told by the owners prior to putting a deposit on this cabin that we would be able to rent Jet Ski's for my son to enjoy. Once arrived we were inform by the owners that they don't rent Jet Ski's to much of a liability for them but they would try to find a company that does. The never responded back to us, My family and I spent the next day driving around and calling other companies to rent Jet Skis with no luck. The website is very deceiving it suggest that you can hang out in there fancy Lodge along with Jet Ski's rentals and its real cool but it doesn't exists, its actually a home were there owners live. If you have any teenagers there is no volley ball court or basketball court or any activities for them to do . The cabins our extremely warn down and dirty. Nothing is provided. No bath towels or dish cloths.No laundry facilities. All out door furniture i.e. chairs were destroyed along with the grill. When settling my bill 2 days early I was charged over $200 extra then what was agreed upon for having a small pet. And as for the boat that we paid extra for was a old pontoon boat that my grand daughter could swim faster then the boat would go. Was in need of some serious work, it took no less then 20 attempts to start this boat. We were told that this boat could pull and inter tube and ski. The lake was nice but again was the smallest lake in its area. There were several other camps in the surrounding area. They are all updated with Wi/Fi and regularly boats with golf courses. If your planning on spending $1600 and above I recommend a different place.

This is what life is all about. We love it here and now that we are retired, we plan to stay here most of the summer. We stay for 2 weeks in a cabin and the other weeks on our motor home camping. Fishing is what it's all about here.
