First off, it's pet friendly -- and actually pet friendly, even if you're traveling with a cat. They didn't even ask for a refundable deposit, which is almost unheard of these days. So if you're road-tripping with your furry buddy, this place is a safe bet. Now, yeah, I could talk about the downsides -- and sure, there are some. Everything in the room is a little loud: the toilet lid, the bathroom fan, the door closer, even how the toilet flushes. It's all a bit clunky. The mattresses are on the soft side, which usually messes up my back -- but surprisingly, I slept just fine. But honestly, I get it. Fixing those things would cost them a lot, and at this price point, they're making practical choices. The staff was genuinely great -- super helpful and even switched our room when we realized we were next to the laundry room (don't worry, it's not loud at night -- they don't run it then). There's free parking, morning coffee, and -- no joke -- some of the best apples I've ever had in a hotel. Don't be scared off by this place. It's not fancy, but it's good. Although the people who work here are very nice, the facility is terrible. My room has no microwave or fridge. It has no chairs. There's Wi-Fi but it's not connected to the internet. Although the room is clean, it smells like someone dumped a pound of scented carpet deodorant on the floor. It's sickeningly sweet. I am on the ground floor and have only gauze curtains, with no way of having anything more light blocking (that means anyone outside could easily look in). The lack of microwave and fridge did get me a price break, but this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. I'm setting an early alarm so I can get the fuck out of here. read more

This is no longer a Super 8! It is privately owned. The staff is exceptional! It is all new & clean inside. They welcome dogs with open arms. They have coffee in lobby 24/7 and breakfast. They are 100% better than Super 8!! I will stay here whenever in town & recommend to everyone!! read more

I want to warn future guests that Hotel 8 has a no refund/cancellation policy within 24 hours. I fell ill with a respiratory bug and felt I was too ill to travel. I contacted the hotel immediately (around 18 hours before check in time), I never received a response. I called the office and was offered a 10% discount for a future date. I can tell you after being charged 126 for a room I didn't use, I won't be staying at your hotel. I don't even know where to start...long story short, find something else. We arrived to find out that they didn't see our reservation even though I had a confirmation email. I, the customer, was blamed for this mistake and told that there was nothing they could do about it. My reservation was finally located, but it had been altered (I'm assuming by them) to have us check in and check out on the same day. We were finally given a room, went to the room and found that it hadn't been cleaned. The bed sheets were all over the floor. We went back to the desk and requested another room. When we got to the next room, the door was already open and it looked like someone had been using it. There was a turd in the toilet and trash all around the room. That's when we canceled our reservation and left. It seemed like the lady at the desk was happy to see us leave. And that's not even the whole story...just don't! read more

Okay, so I was driving East trying to get past Fargo to get a easier shot to Chicago the next day. I have been satisfied with Super-8 in the past but this one is not doing it. The room I was given instantly disgusted me because of the moldy smell. Then I was the idiot because I thought the Air conditioning did not work because I had the switch set to "High AC" but had the knob set to "1" and no AC came out. I went to the desk and apologized, she gave me a new room; an upgrade. That is the only reason Super 8 did not get only 1 star. The fan / ac / heat -- no matter,.. smelled terrible (just like the first room). JUst like mold. Once you acclimate it is not bad, but I really, really do not suggest staying here. read more

Best hotel in Fergus Falls MN. Hands down. Staff is excellent. The housekeeping is amazing. These folks know hospitality!

Skip it unless desparate. It's cheap but the bed is super lumpy and sheets feel gross. I was prepared to overlook the musty smell and rough room, but the bed was a bridge too far. When slid into it, I Islid right back out, got dressed, and asked front a refund. They were kind enough to give me one, which means I feel bad one-starring them. Had issues with front desk checking in for our reservation, but can over look that as was solved relatively quickly. The room was the most trashy motel I have ever seen. Their was a giant, poorly painted wooden plank loosely nailed to the wall, the room was tiny, and their were rips and stains on the bed... there was only 2 pillows in the entire room, and they were literally HALF the size of normal pillow, and for 2 people who each only get one pillow, having such small, lumpy pillows sucked. Walls were like paper. Woken up by neighbors listening to an audio book in the middle of the night.... Will never return to a Super 8. read more

Very nice employees, and very military friendly. Veteran parking and rates! The room was clean, but the shower pressure was not the best. They really need to revamp their piping system. To much water was coming out of the tub faucet during the shower. It's a bit noisy, since the window is literally a foot away from the lot, and dogs were barking inside the hotel. However, TVs work, cable was fantastic, and location was very convenient for travelers. Walmart and several restaurants next door! read more

I would NOT recommend a stay at this Super 8. I booked a stay for my brother as he was coming home from working in ND. On his way home his car started to act up so I thought it would be best for him to stay the night and allow his car to cool down. This was the best option that I could find because they allowed dogs in the room of course wih an upcharge. I booked him on Thursday night , late for him to check out Friday. I was told I'd be charged $68 for the stay and my check/debit card was process. Friday my brother had to extend his stay and they charged $5/hr for each hour past the standard checkout time. NO ONE called me to verify or authorize this with me, they knew that this was not his check/debit card. My brother told me that the total charge went to $88 for extended his stay by a few hours. I decided to be safe I should call on Saturday to verify what I was charged to the penny. When I called I spoke to another gal who told me not to worry, as I was only charged once for his stay not $68 and then another $88 but only a total of $88. Something told me to keep an eye on my checking account also because like most ppl I live paycheck to paycheck. The following Thursday I found that I WAS charged twice!!! once for $68 and then again for $88. So not only did they take money from me that wasn't theres now I had to call them to get a refund and wait longer for the refund process!! i called that thursday and was told I'd have to wait until early evening to talk to the manager Erica. So losing another business day to get a refund processed. When I called later that day and spoke with Erica a manager, she of course found the error and said she'd refund my account. NO APOLOGY, she didn't even offer to compesate me in anyway for me being out another $68 and having to wait to get it back! Then it gets worse from there. I called her back asked who her mgr was or who was above her and she told me Nick the owner was. I was given his email address and I decided to make him aware of the situation. I emailed him a week ago tomorrow and I haven't heard a peep from him. I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of customer service or care and that the owner himself hasn't responded to this situation. Good rate and that was all. Checked in on a hot day (97th degrees), A.C. was not running room was very warm. Turned on A.C. went to dinner returned 2 hours later room did not cool, A.C. not cooling room enough. Light bulb in bathroom burned out, plug in in bathroom not working. Next morning they changed our A.C. unit and replaced light bulb. We left for the day and came back that night and found some personel items left in the bathroom were discarded in the trash by the cleaning crew. We went dumpster diving that night and could not locate the items in the dark. Management claimed they were not responsible for missing items. Cleaning crew came in the next morning and located missing items in dumpster. Finally got apologie from management and they comped our room. I have stayed in a lot of motels and never experienced anything like this. I will not return to this establishment. read more
