Pretty nice for a Super 8. Not pet friendly. Friendly desk staff. Smoke free but there are burns in the carpet. Furniture is falling apart.

The only down side was that the wifi was a little spotty, which made TV watching quirky. I'm leaving this place feeling refreshed and happy and would love to stay here again.

The staff are all very kind and the rooms are generally very clean with super comfy, firm beds. By the way, their showers have seats built into them which is super exciting. You better believe that after I washed the seat (you can never be too careful!), I sat on that sucker and enjoyed a hot shower for a long time and it was like heaven. The pool is open from 6am to 12am and their fitness center is 24hrs. I didn't work out, but I did swim and at 6am, the pool was empty despite the sold out rooms. So why four stars and not five? 1- There was a large toenail in my room. 2- When swimming, a very large chunk of blonde hair either real or a wig kept following me and trying to latch itself onto my leg. 3 - Hair dryer.... may have been faster to stand my the air conditioner and hold my head over the breeze. 4 - To most hotels everywhere: For the sake of anyone over 5'7" and weighing over 140, please see if budgets allow for bigger towels Again, we have visited before and the toenails and hair monsters were never an issue in the past so don't let that deter you. Still the top hotel in the town.

It's only about $50 per night to stay here, and it's great as a last resort, since most hotels were totally full due to the Independence Day holiday. You also get a free homemade breakfast, and you can eat it outside on the large porch while watching the birds and cats. Examples of breakfast entrees served are a breakfast quiche, breakfast casserole, and french toast. The couple who owns the inn is friendly too, and they like to come over and chat while you're eating. Because of this, I added a star to the rating. Otherwise, I would not stay here. There is no internet access, free wi-fi, cell phone service, or even phone in the rooms. No amenities, such as shampoo, conditioner, razor, or soap, is provided. I think this is bad when you've been traveling on an airplane. You are provided access to a refrigerator (unlimited sodas and bottled water - though they ran out of water) and microwave. There really isn't housekeeping service. The trash cans are never emptied (really bad after you've been on a road trip), the bed is never made for you, sheets aren't changed during your stay, and towels are replaced every other day (it seems). The worst part of the stay though was the smell of hydrogen sulfide whenever you ran the water. Because of this, I won't stay here again. If someone takes a shower, the whole room smells like rotten eggs, and it's disgusting. The same applies to brushing your teeth. If you brushed your teeth and used the tap water instead of bottled water, you'd have this rancid taste in your mouth. Gross!

There is very limited access to our everyday technologies, but it is also great to be able to quietly think and read on the front porch. Sandy and I stayed here from 8/1/2018 through 8/11/2018 and loved every minute of it. Judy made a wonderful country breakfast every morning, and Dale pretty well stayed out of her way, while regaling us with History and stories of rural life gone by. It is a working farm, but the Mills take time to help us enjoy the hospitality. Also, ask Dale for a quick canoe trip, it absolutely makes the trip, and is is incredibly relaxing.

The decor in our room is super cute, with adorable duvets, a gorgeous orange desk chair and mirror (I'd buy both for my home, tbh), and lots of sensible storage. There are outlets for USB and USB-C charging, ample attractive lighting, and you have the option to close the opaque window shade, a sheer shade, or both. You even get your choice of a soft or firm pillow. The bathroom and mini fridge are immaculately clean. I can't recommend this place highly enough. I almost wish we were here for longer than one night, as it really is so nice. It's refreshing not to be grossed out by a hotel. The woman at the desk was friendly and efficient! I would definitely stay here again if I were passing through. I'm so impressed that I forgot to wait until morning so I can comment on breakfast. I'll do that tomorrow. After a gloriously hot shower with moderate water pressure, we're at breakfast. There is a great array of options. I'm having a banana, Oikos yogurt, and an egg white omelet (a circle of egg white and peppers folded in half--genius). My mom is eating her weight in bacon, a banana nut muffin, and a biscuit with sausage gravy. There is sausage, as well as a cheese omelet and a pancake machine. Lots of fruit, cereal, yogurt, bread/bagels, etc. If you're on Mason City, it's impossible to imagine a better option than this Holiday Inn Express. Found the flaw: Fox News on the breakfast room tv. :(

I arrived on a Tuesday at 2pm and they had a room ready for me in the 1st floor. I was greeted at the front desk and told about the free breakfast. My room was clean. The bathroom was good as well as the bedroom and the bed was very comfortable. The pillows also were fluffy and the room smelled clean. The room has a big selection of tv channels and the WiFi was easy to connect to. Being on the 1st floor I thought it might be noisy but it was extremely quiet. The breakfast had a good variety of options and I would say it is just as good if not better than some Hampton inn breakfasts. I would recommend staying here, would go back.
