Traveling here on business, this is a wonderful alternative to the several local hotels. With a motto of "Come here as a guest, and leave as family." -- it's more than true after my 3-day stay. Super comfy bed, and very quiet -- I slept just great! Lots of extra blankets and pillows if needed. Each room has the comforts of your own TV with cable, but I felt more than welcome to be downstairs in the main room with the big-screen TV, a large fireplace, and lots of seating/recliner choices. Free wifi/internet is provided. For breakfast, Carol and Ron both chip-in and provide an excellent breakfast. There are 4 or more choices to choose from, and the night before - just place your order and time - and it'll be ready. I recommend Carol's special scrambled eggs (bacon, cheese, peppers, onions) - awesome! Because of the time of year, it didn't happened to have many other guests. The one downside - it has a shared bathroom. There are several bathrooms within the lodge, so I guess it wouldn't be too much of a problem. The highlight of the time spent here was getting to know the very sweet people of Ron and Carol. They are warm, open, kind, and generous people who are in the right business of serving others and sharing their home.

They helped me find several fun things to do in Red Oak and the cities surrounding it. I definitely loved their helpfulness. Lobby/entrance: The lobby is a decent size lobby with plenty of places to sit at. I always love when a hotel has a porta cochère and this hotel has one! Breakfast area: So a continental breakfast is included with your stay. It's a very minimal breakfast. If it doesn't fill you up you can go to the restaurant they have on site or to the McDonald's right down the street. Rooms: The rooms are very large and spacious for a standard type room! I really enjoyed the extra space. Parking: It's free and they have a very large parking lot! Downfalls: 1. There was never anyone standing at the front desk. Whenever I needed someone I had to push a doorbell to get someone to come out from the back. I felt like I was disturbing them whenever I pushed that button. 2. Yes the rooms were huge but the bathrooms were very small. If I had a bathroom that was 1 foot bigger then it would be perfect. 3. Booking this hotel can only be done by calling. Yes I understand this is a small town and not a lot of tourist come to red oak. However it would have been nice if you allowed online bookings on either your website or through Expedia. When I was looking for a hotel to stay at your hotel didn't immediately pop up. I booked your hotel after I talked to my friends and we all agreed to stay there. Overall it's a good hotel and if I'm in red oak I will stay here again.

My first impression was how cute to put a snowman face on the garage door, but then I stepped inside. It was like walking into a Hallmark movie! Exquisitely decorated. Warmly welcomed. The menu was even altered for my major food allergies. A great explanation of nearby restaurants and sites, with a paper map even included! The house itself is nicely decorated and has everything needed. The owner, Sandy, was quick with communication when I had questions about what to expect. Her home is very large with several guest rooms, some with private restrooms. Everything you'd want in a BnB with a lovely host that made us feel very welcome!

Around 3AM I noticed a puddle of water on the bathroom floor. It spread from the tub to the sink & was at least 2.5 feet wide. I put down towels & called the hotel front desk. He said that it would have to wait. Later, he called & woke me, saying that no one would be able to address it & that they could try to find another room for me. Long-story-short, I did not get another room, nor did I get a discount. However, I did learn from the lady that this room HAS BEEN AN ISSUE & that their plumbers could not find the source. So, they put a disabled person in this room, knowing that there was a water leak & what looked like black mold. There should be some form of oversight to prevent this health & safety hazard.

Called and Roger was able to accommodate us for our anniversary dinner at the last minute. There was one other patron, a regular, who was super fun to talk and share some stories with. He stated that Roger had the best steak ever, but he was out of them for the evening so we intend to come back and give it a try another time. Our chicken Alfredo and baked salmon were fantastic. We honestly could not recommend a better experience and were so glad we chose to take a chance and not go to the steakhouse 20 miles down the road as recommended by our hostess.
