8/8/2026, I encountered an interesting event. Walking up to the front a security guard was in the very front. I am walking straight up to him, I greated the guy, he said nothing. I though this store has many employees who don't speak English. I entered grabbed a shopping cart that's when he had followed me simply to say NO BAG PACKS ALLOWED INSUDE THE STORE. I replied, this is my purse. Not wanting to argue I pushed the cart back and left. As I was leaving I realized, he does speak English...Why didn't he say anything as I greated him walking in front and right beside him. Then I though, my red Trump hat triggered him...took him a minute to think. I returned he wasn't in the front I went straight to a female employee and asked to speak to manager. As I am waiting he now appears, got on his microphone and said, Manager needed complaint against me. Manager approached addressed the issue, the guard combative argutive taunting me...as I was leaving yeah! Walk away...way away as he makes gestures to put his hand on his waist implying he has a gun and even stated is a combat...I replied, I'm a Marine sure the f ain't taking your shit. Now, was this necessary, perhaps my Trump hat triggered his TDS Stage 5 but one thing I know this beta male will shoot someone during his employment at this store. This is the worse Latin grocery store I've ever walked into. 9 out 10 employees either refuse to speak any English and they give you a f king attitude. Last time, Daniela as I was starring at the Pan Frances or Bollillos I asked about it, she replied with a shifty attitude...that Dominican Bread. Today, she was pulling out donuts from a box...I'm at counter..she did not want to be bothered. She came to the counter with a f king attitude, I even wished her a better pleasant day. The older lady speaks zero English and doesn't even know how to count cents in English...giving me a direct amount then asking for more cents. I have asked for help looking for Yuca and Pilloncillo in the past and they have no clue what I was looking for...the level of attitude from so many employees inside this store keeps me away unless I really really crave that Latino type item I seek. Today, finally I had no choice but to advice a manager about Daniel she said....Manager said "Daniela" I say the young stupid girl must be the owner's relative since she displays such bad attitude. In June, at Bakery there was a young black woman she was very very pleasant. Short lived they only leave the ones with attitudes and those that don't speak any English or refuse to speak English. I'm not sure how to say this but here it is. I moved to Fayetteville when my son was in the army 4 years ago. Times have really changed here and some not so good. I don't know how all these years I didn't shop here. I was inquiring about tamales on fb and a lot of people shared go to Compare Foods. So I took that trip. Background I'm a Southern California native with southwestern Mexican roots. I was seriously missing real Mexican food here in Fayetteville which seems to be called Mexican food but it's not the Mexican food I've had all my life. Can I just tell you when I walked into this store I felt at home. This store compares to the Mexican stores in California to the tee. Despite all of this bad reviews I'm grateful for this store because I wouldn't find my Haitians products anywhere than here.

I went there twice, 1 in the middle of December 2022 to purchase root vegetables. That was ok the vegetables were already turning (bad). 2. Time was the end of January 2023 to purchase meat. When I saw the 4 meat trays shelf on the floor the young man organizing the meat area. I decided to walk around and wait until he was done putting them in the frigate. I had lunch the food was not what I expected. It definitely was international. The taste and name was way off to me. After an 1 1/2 hour the meat tray was still on the floor the man was gone. The raw meat sat out of fridge rather along to time. I just went home. The place is not worth me getting sick. One thing for sure because it's international you are guaranteed to find what you need. Huge assortment of produce and lots of cuts of meat that aren't always carried at Food Lion or the Commissary. I easily found pork belly and while I was looking lost and trying to find pasteles, one of the men stocking the freezer section helped me find them and also showed me that they sell them in the hot deli too! Deli has a lot of prepared foods. Nice little spot for a quick lunch. They have a good assortment of baked goods as well! I will definitely be back here to get the ingredients to make pasteles and gandule rice from scratch because it looks like they carry everything here! I'm so happy I found this place! read more

The person at the front desk at the bakery was so rude. Clearly she lacks social skills. She snatched my card from me and had an attitude the whole like it was an inconvenience to do her job. She clearly only works there because of her parents. She should be put in the back mopping somewhere. She lacks the social skills to work customer service. So I travelled here from Jacksonville NC that was a 2 hour and 40 minute drive. All I could think was "oh boy! Making this trip to this Compare or the one in Durham better be worth it" and with not very many options in Jax all I could say was "Well, I gotta give it a shot!" So here I went. We got to the location and it's a nice shopping center located in a decent location surrounded by a hispanic credit union and an El Salvadorian restaurant. That's a key that, hey there are Latinos here...Woo Hoo!!! Anyway I walked in and my husband can recognize the smell of freshly baked bread (panaderia style) we told ourselves we would get back to the cafeteria and unfortunately with the excitement of finding all our produce we never went back to that corner. That's gonna be made on Trip #2! Anyway we went straight to produce and found way we needed for our homemade sofrito, Italian peppers, Ajices Dulces, Culantro, beautiful onions. And some great selection of bacalao (codfish). There's fresh dry beans like red, white, pinto. Also found great Florida Avocados & Hass avocados. Panapen (bread fruit) is so hard to find I always find them in my hometown of the Bronx but definitely not in boondocks NC...well Compare Foods has it! My ole time favorite treat as a kid was Florecitas and I found the cans here:) all types of Maltas and frozen fruit pulps from mango, tamarindo, papaya, etc and sodas from Columbia and Ecuador!! Yummy! There's a great selection of Jamaican products and Mexican products, seasoning and all (not to mention all the Mexican candies). There's many cuts of beef and cow tongue, pigs feet, etc The market has all Goya products and straight from the island of P.R. Products like Rico Arroz and Salchichas Carmela (epic memories). There are so many products to choose from and I was really impressed! Definitely will be returning for another trip to resupply, too bad it's so far away. This store is horrible the meats are at room temperature... I bought ground beef one time and as I cooked it it turned gray I ended up throwing all of it in the garbage then I tried the store again and I was looking for some fish there was no price tags on any of the fish when I asked an employee how much was the fish she said I don't know when you check out they can tell you then yesterday I tried again for the third time and I bought a red velvet cake only to discover the cake did not have a sell by date.... it was dry.. you can tell it was old when you cut it ....so I took the cake back today I couldn't find my receipts ....so I said I'll just get a different cake... there were two cakes at the bottom in the display case I asked the manager what kind were they... he told me he didn't know ....when I asked him how long have any of the cakes been here he said he thinks a week ....I will never ever go back to that store again and I'll be so glad when they close down and they put a Food Lion there read more

I like shopping here. They have a fresh meat counter with butcher type service. There is a nice produce section that offers most everything I need to make the family recipes. There are several varieties of Mexican cheeses in the dairy cooler. There is a bakery in-store that offers good Mexican pastries and cakes with a "french bakery" type vibe. The deli counter offers somewhat of a Puerto Rican/Dominican flavor style of foods and the empanadas de res are very good. There is a small area to sit and eat your food or you can take-out. They also offer a military discount one day a week (Wed I think) . The cashiers and other employees have all been very nice and helpful anytime I have been in there. read more

This is the best place in Fayetteville to get Hispanic products. Very short drive from Fort Bragg. They have a great cafeteria with Puerto Rican, Dominican, Mexican, and many other nationalities specialties. I always stop by to get a cold Malta and an empanada before I start my shopping. Some products can be pricey but when you can't find them anywhere else in Fayetteville, hey, it's worth it. Best place to get your pastele making supplies. I have the feeling that first reviewer was exaggerating a bit (okay, I'd say quite a bit), but he isn't lying about the suspect meat and the indifferent staff. One of their cashiers actually got onto me because I didn't speak Spanish. LOL! I couldn't believe the nerve. I suggest staying away from their produce section since they seem to let the fruits and veggies stay until they start to rot. Plus, there always seem to be those little flies hovering around the produce. NOT GOOD. Again, another sign of rotting. Lastly, there are virtually no savings in that store. I have yet to find a bargain or anything that can beat the prices at Wal-Mart or Food Lion. Okay I'm not going to lie and say that I have ever grocery shopped here, because I haven't. The reason I go here is for the hot food bar. It is the most amazing Hispanic food EVER. They always have different options, but my go to is the rice, beans, and chicken. They also have pork and beef options. I've never spent over $10 and that includes my drink. I love their rice and red beans. They also offer a large assortment of delicious desserts and breads. I love choosing a few to bring home with me. The store is large too. Not bad. I didn't have the same experience as the other reviewer so maybe they fixed some stuff? I did get some aguas frescas though (mango and Jamaican) and they were pretty mediocre. The produce selection was good and looked fresh. The meat looked good, and they offer SUPERthin slices. I was actually looking for beef to make bulgogi so it worked out well for me, now I don't have to ruin a nice piece of beef (or my sanity) trying to hack it into tiny slivers. As a Latina I love that there's a little place that will sell you things you cant get at Walmart, etc. I don't go often but I go for their bread section and their cakes. Today I probably experienced one of the worst customer service experiences EVER and that's honestly saying a lot. People in the area at businesses aren't the most pleasant, but the girl in their bread department that's "in charge" takes the cake. I waited for her after grabbing my bread and I wasn't rude or anything because there were only two of them working. She came and was basically throwing my bread on the bag, had the worst attitude and then when I asked her for a flan she was even more rude. Not once did she even acknowledgement. Their stuff isn't that cheap which isn't the problem because I know there's not many like them around but I just was not gonna spend my money because after asking her for the flan, having her be rude, and then laugh when I asked if she had a manager, I was like nope not spending my money here. I'll rather drive further and go to the one in Spring Lake. She's def gonna ruin their business with that attitude. read more

First off I like the store because I can find almost anything the Puertorican and Spanish dishes I cook at home require. I went to buy a few things, it was mid April. I visited the store 2 days in a row. The first day, I bought some food, chicken kabobs, relleno de papa, plaintains and some Tamarind juice. I noticed where the Tamarind juice was, a big container machine where it circulates the juice to keep it "fresh" was almost empty. When I tasted the juice it tasted fermented, I didnt think too much of it. I went to eat the chicken kabobs came across one piece, the chicken tasted a little funky and raw. I tried the hot sauce, is overwhemlmingly hot! not a good hot. I also bought a blood sausage(Morcilla) It was dry, tasted old like it was there for a few days(just because food is under a hot light for days doesn't mean it will stay "fresh", flavors change, food gets stale, and dry. Greasy foods too, what do they use for frying, recycled lard??really. Here is where I know why the food was old; went there the next day, and the same cooked food items on display I saw the day before, where there the next day I visited. I also saw the Tamarind juice container, in the same condition, almost empty, still circulating that "fresh" juice. Most likely the next day, the same items were there too. I was too sick to go back and visit the store again. The only thing made fresh daily is some of the sweet pastries and the bread, because you can smell it as you enter the store, keep it up. The next day I purchased another Relleno de Papa and a plaintain, by the way the way they fry the plaintains, is just lazy, they peel and fry the entire thing, instead of in slices. Their presentation is a bit amusing to me. That night I started feeling sick, I wasn't sure what made me sick. I started backtracking and remembered eating some of the chicken kabob dipped in the hot sauce and the tamarind juice I drank. One of those foods made me sick, and I was sick for days. How bad is the economy that they won't throw away old food to save money?would they pay my doctor bill if I get sick from the "fresh" food they sell?? If this store serves food, it better make sure the foods they cook are edible and made fresh daily otherwise, they will get a visit from the health inspectors to make sure that the food they serve is fresh food daily, and keep costumers happy and healthy. I might visit the store again to purchase certain food items but I won't and I do not encourage people to purchase or eat any meat products or foods they cook and sell. read more

BEWARE!!!! They will sell you old meat and try to not have to deal with it because of language barriers. I suggest if you do get anything from here check it carefully, because they will put a sticker over the date with a different date. Also be careful of the in-store restaurant. I originally went in for empanadas as a neighbor told me I could get them in the little cafe inside the store. They indeed had empanadas and a nice selection of other already cooked foods and offered combos with a little place to sit and eat the food. Empanadas were delicious!
