I am very happy and satisfied with the job that John and his crew did removing the old and making a new driveway. They started at 8 in the morning and the job was done by 5 pm. John has since returned each day to water down the driveway to be sure that the heat doesn't cause any cracks. The crew was very pleasant and respectful. Everything was left clean and in good condition. I can recommend with confidence that Super concrete will do a good job!

Old patio was separate blocks with big gaps

I am long overdue providing a great review for John and his super crew from Superconcrete for the patio makeover they did for me in May 2022. I am an incurable do-it-yourselfer, and usually procrastinate on larger professional jobs like a new patio job, but John had been stopping by periodically for some years whenever he had his crew in the neighborhood to pitch me on doing the (really overdue) front driveway, including walking/driving me around to see his excellent work on other driveways in the neighborhood. He stopped by in May 2022, and I told him though I wasn't ready to spend a lot on my driveway right now, but what I really needed was to do something with the yard, a much bigger job, and I showed him through to my cracked, out of level, patchwork patio. He walked me around the yard, just pointing and waving, describing in detail how they could pull out an old decrepit pond, replace it with a free form extension of the patio, then went on to show areas of the yard that I didn't really use that were just gravel and how they too could be patio. Then he quoted me a very, very competitive price, that almost had me ready to sign, but I gave him the "let me think about it", as the crew had work for a week or two, and I still had a chance to catch them. Long story short (too late), a week or so later, I had been seriously considering the job, but also coincidentally had gotten very sick, when John stopped by again to say they were wrapping up other jobs and did I want to contract for the yard or not, and I told him, "Well, John, I really do want to get the yard done, and I like the price, but I gotta tell you... I'm not feeling well... so if we do the job your guys will literally have to do everything, starting by cleaning up all the junk and stuff in the yard, all the planning, everything, I can't lift a finger. We did a quick walkaround again, and agreed on a handshake that they would start work the next day, and wouldn't need a thing from me. It was the smoothest experience I could imagine... at 7AM guys were at the door asking to move cars out of driveway for the trucks, and by 8AM my patio was clean and clear and full of guys with hand sledges busting up the old concrete patio and pond (all work by hand, no access for heavy equipment). By mid-day the broad new space for the new patio was clear several inches down, with forms going in in a beautiful shape I wouldn't have known to draw. Everyone on his crew knew their job and worked hard in near silence handling all that needed to be handled. I felt like a slacker, looking out the back windows in my robe, still not feeling 100%, as all the concrete and gravel flew, until as they left the site at 5, I could see everything in perfect readiness for a next-morning pour. From just a few questions, they'd layed out a whole new free form patio, all the way up to my existing shed, including a step up to the shed. The next morning, the crew was again there early with the concrete pumping truck, and had the concrete poured and level within hours. All of the beautiful shapes and colors you see in the pictures were just John and his crew on their own. I didn't do anything but nod and answer a few questions. The shape is marvelous, and the contrasting colors they blended in and impressed design elements, the scribed lines, and the texture, are so much nicer than just a gray slab. The next day, I gave John his check for the exact agreed amount, no muss, no fuss, and have been enjoying my beautiful patio ever since. I could not imagine the job going more easily from my point of view, and I sometimes give as examples to the developers I manage in my tech job anecdotes from John's patio crew as an example of a cohesive team where everybody shows up on time, knows their job and gets it done with consummate workmanship and without fuss. They left my yard cleaner than they'd found it. When I'm ready to do the front, I'll have Superconcrete take on that driveway job as well. I couldn't be happier with the value and service, and am glad to help raise their online profile.

While he was doing the work, he found problems with earthquake safety and the pad for our air conditioner, which he fixed. He worked on many projects in our yard in a two month period including the following: -new fire pit (which included demolishing old fireplace that was not built properly) -new steps into the back yard (to replace the one concrete step that was not safe) - new pavers for the front yard which replaces the driveway and the side yard (which included demolishing the driveway) - new rock wall bordering the front yard on the side and in front -new rock veneer on either side of the garage -new column mailbox -new walking path on the north side of the house with stepping stones (which included removing concrete that had been stored there) -new pad for the air conditioner on the north side -new concrete to shore up the pillars in front of the house to make the house safer for earthquakes -new redwood garden bed on the south side with mushroom compost -new pavers on the south side that match the ones in the front including a patio where we can put a table and chairs -moving the flagstone and putting it deeper into the ground while adding more flagstone in the backyard to make it safer and also more practical for us. -removing flagstone bench which we didn't like. He and his crew were very talented. They used high quality materials and their craftsmanship was top notch. They took the time to do it right and did not use shortcuts. He was an excellent communicator and willing to answer any questions we might have. He assured us that he was not finished until we were satisfied with the results. He has many years of experience in masonry and it showed. We were constantly adding on as we found new areas that needed improvement. He was flexible and willing to work with us. He worked with the suppliers to ensure that we would get the materials as soon as possible. Our house was the talk of the neighborhood as everyone came by to admire the results. We were very happy with everything he did. There are before and after pictures below so you can see the difference in how our yard looks. We would highly recommend him.

One thing that really stood out is that they noticed our old driveway had the wrong slope and that the approach up to the front porch was too steep. They corrected the driveway so it now has a proper slope toward the road and added a new step for us -- at no additional cost. That was not something we asked for, but something they caught. Everything was done exactly on schedule and exactly at the agreed price. No surprises. They also worked smoothly with another contractor we had on site at the same time. Before they left, the cleanup was immaculate. Several of our neighbors noticed how nice the driveway was looking. We are very happy with this. Competitive pricing, quality work, and easy to work with. I would highly recommend Rene, Alex, and Navarrete Concrete.
