This store is in a plaza where you need to pay attention to drivers who don't check their blindspots. I pulled into this parking lot at around 6 pm. I had to honk at a car that felt like backing out without checking a thing. When I left, a similar situation happened with another car. I already felt that this wouldn't be a store that I'd frequent often if I am fearing for my life trying to find a parking spot. Anyway, I backed into a spot across from the main entrance. I walked in. It does feel like the IGA that I used to frequent. It simply has Dollarama merchandise. There was lots of Easter merchandise. From chocolate Easter bunnies, to baskets for your treats, you can find everything here. One of the few items that you can get for $1 are one-litre bottles of Pepsi. There were many when I was there. If you are looking for mason jars, this store has cases of them. The catch is that they aren't wide-mouth jars. Rather, they have bottlenecks. If you're looking for the former, you're out of luck. I liked the colourful planters at this store. You can do some cool gardening and save some money by getting your supplies at this store. You can get seeds and soil. Done! This store does not have any self-checkout kiosks. I lined up at the checkout area that moved fairly well. There was one person doing everything. He was pleasant. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was done. I grabbed my items, wished him a great evening, and left. It's a decent store. Poor drivers backing out of parking spots that scare me. (134)

There is also no room for self checkouts, which would speed up the check out process. Lots of parking and easy to get there through transit. Never had an issue with the employees there.

I also picked up some padding to stick in the bottom of my laptop to prevent overheating. I found some useful large S hooks that can fit my balcony railings and dividers to hang more plants. They have kitchen tools, bathroom gadgets, storage, pots, hangers, beauty tools, you name it, they have it. Always worthwhile to check out when you're at PMall. Note, I'm not sure if it's due to the fire, but the escalators at Pmall are not functioning, so you have to use the service elevators the past weekend to go up and down the mall.

Sadly, even though the store is bigger, it still lacked a lot of the popular items as I guess the items are sold out just as quick which means there is a lot of traffic but still have a good amount of variety. I don't remember seeing self checkouts there. Perhaps it is not needed but I feel they need to add it to make the checkout faster and also not having to wait for a staff to show up to check people out. This Dollarama is conveniently located in a plaza with lots of restaurants and even a Service Ontario, and even a No Frills, at next door plaza which means can kill a few birds with one stone when needing to run many errands :) The parking lot is huge and there is sufficient parking. Transit Viva Purple is easily accessible to get there.

This plaza has my local ServiceOntario, where I have posed for my driver's licence mugshot over the years. This plaza also has a Dollarama that has been here for as long as I can remember. I decided to pay it a visit last Wednesday evening. On Thursday, my department had a virtual lunch. It was my suggestion to hijack our regular weekly meeting to ban chatting about work and have lunch with the team virtually. I managed to convince my colleagues to order takeout. It worked! Being on video (I'm not a fan in general, but I'm okay sacrificing my face for lunch and chatting about non-work-related stuff for an hour), I felt that I needed a Santa hat to get into the festive spirit. I knew that I could rely on Dollarama for my needs. It did not fail. Let's talk about parking. There are lots of parking spots in this plaza. Some of them are extremely roomy, like the one that I was parked at. I swung my driver's side door wide open and had another foot between my door and the car next to me. Yay! Dollar stores are deemed essential during this pandemic and remain open. The prime reason is that they offer food and drinks. Naturally, there were a number of customers shopping when I was there. I immediately looked for the Christmas section. I found it easily! There were lots of Santa hats to choose from. There was the traditional one that I ultimately got. One had two white braids going down either side. Another had antlers. I loved the elf hat with huge ears. The problem is that it didn't accommodate my huge head. Luckily, the traditional one did for a whopping $1.25. The aisles are long in this store. They stretch from where the cashout area is at the front to the very back before you hit the employee area. So, everyone seemed to ignore the arrows on the floor in each aisle. If you were at at aisle where you saw an item, but it meant walking down another aisle and back up to take a closer look at it, most chose to ignore what you should do in favour of convenience. This store is a fascinating place to observe how humans behave. If I didn't have errands to run, I would have found a chair and watched people for a good half an hour. Between Dollarama and Dollar Tree, I like the latter more before everything is the same price. Dollarama varies its prices based on the type of item. So, is it truly a dollar store by definition? Maybe it should change its name to Dollars-rama instead. I do enjoy getting candy here. I got two white chocolate KitKat bars and they were delicious and cheap. The snacks section is pretty impressive. This store has garlic naan, which I don't often see at Dollarama. Perhaps this area has more South Asian folks that this store is being accommodative. It's cool. I lined up to pay for my items. There were two cashiers working that evening. The woman behind me was standing way too close to me. My staring at her and the marker on the floor did not do a thing. She was oblivious, as was the woman behind her standing inches away. It's not an issue with the store, but with people who don't get it. Anyway, I got a nice male cashier who helped get me on my way. My items cost me $6.66. I joked that perhaps I should get another item. He laughed. I used my debit card and all was great. I didn't need a bag and wished him a good evening as I headed to my car. It's a decent Dollarama. Other than folks not physically distancing as well as they should in the store, I'd return because the selection is perfect for my needs. (448)

This Shoppers is technically located in the big Field Fresh plaza block but always has parking because it doesn't share a neighbouring wall with anyone else and let's face it, no one wants to walk THAT far. It has a very similar layout to other Shoppers where you enter around the cosmetics area, move past aisles that build on themes from one to another, then culminating in the seasonal and food stuffs area. It was interesting to note that all of the hanging retail aisle signage was in English and Chinese. I only needed one quick item here and was able to locate it with relative ease. I had a chance to shop last Sunday before this new Winners location opened to the public. I decided to pass the amazing event and went today. Winners occupies the old Future Shop location. The store is beautiful! Due to it being opening week, there are security staff in the store. I walked in and hugged a Lisa Conte plush backpack with leather straps. It was so nice! It was going for $179. The place is bright and clean. I scored a pair of Keds sneakers. They are lacy, make me hit six feet in height when I wear them (platforms!), and are a size 11! There are plenty of items to see and buy. I had some willpower. Otherwise, I would have bought a pineapple power charger and a solar-powered disco gnome! Staff members are friendly. One came around taking hangers from clothes and security alarms on clothes while customers waited for a free cashier. Sadly, she couldn't take the security alarm off my shoes. The parking lot between Canadian Tire and Winners is currently being paved. However, there is still plenty of parking. It's a nice Winners. I'll be back! (179)

Afterwards, I typically pop by Dollar Tree to browse and shop. I was in the area the other day and decided to drop by. I prefer Dollar Tree to Dollarama. I like the selection and everything is $1.25. At the latter, there are items that even go for $4.25. What's the point of being a dollar store if you are paying dollars for a single item? I suppose that we can blame our Canadian dollar competing with the American one when it comes to Dollarama pricing. Anyway, this Dollar Tree is the only one in Markham. I love the selection of items, from sardines, to dumplings and chicken in cans. I also love the noodle section. The seasonal section is awesome. Easter is nearly here. You can get scented Easter bunny plush toys and a ton of chocolate items. Nice! Staff are friendly. I managed to witness two staff members training a new one. They were much younger than the new hire, but were incredibly supportive of her progress. I still miss the awesomeness of Dollar Tree in the States.
