Joe was a really nice, respectful guy. I'd love to leave him a positive review but the renovation and installation work he did for us was really shoddy. Screws poking out, crooked cuts in wood, things out of alignment. Worst of all, in one instance something he installed was 100% a safety hazard and we had to have it re-done by someone else. It gives me no joy to leave a negative review for Joe. There are a lot of positive reviews here, so perhaps we were an anomaly (he was really busy at the time and seemed very distracted). In all fairness his rates were very reasonable. That said, the quality of work was so poor and full of mistakes that I can't justify ever hiring him again. Having it done right the first time and saving us the headaches would have been worth a few hundred dollars more. read more

The pictures that you see on this website Joe is the owner and Joe has not been the most professional contractor. He is apparently a license contractor. He was paid to complete repairs at 2535 Hauser Blvd. Los Angeles Ca. I conducted a thorough walk-through with Joe to repair and replace window screens. Joe has made more excuses then you imagine to replace simply screens in the windows. I will be putting together a YouTube channel specifically to show you all how negligent Joe's work is. I called Joe up to help me with my own project a few weeks ago. He just finished a grueling project of hanging over 60 pictures in my gallery loft, painting, assembling furniture- all with a smile, some whistling, fun conversation and of course a smile. Never in my life had I experienced such a RIDICULOUS joke... I just wanted to install a screen door in my living room so I got this handyman's groupon in September. This guy, Joe came to my condo and had a look, saying he'll do the job after two weeks and wanted me to give him my credit card information. After 2 weeks, in the day we scheduled, he didn't show up or call, until I call many times he finally picked up the phone and said: "the door is not ready to pick up yet but it's not my problem, we have to reschedule but I'll make yours as priority." I thought maybe there's some difficulty making the screen so I said yes. After another week in the day we rescheduled, which is a Saturday, He texted me in the morning :"My client's house was on fire yesterday and they want me to help them clean up. I'll let you know when I finish." I was so patient and said please let me know when you finish. This should not be an excuse technically because he already rescheduled once and even if his client's house's on fire, I'm his client too and he made PROMISE to me. But I was patient and forgave him because I understand people who had fire may need help immediately. BUT AGAIN, he never call again and NEVER picks up my calls afterwards. I waited and waited the whole Saturday, disappointed. Then I thought, since I already bought the groupon, just try to contact him again. He finally texted me back on the following Monday and said he could come at Thursday noon, which is 2 days ago. I put off my work and stayed at home waiting for him, he disappeared again. Now, 10/29, is a month after I bought this groupon, my small works that need him to be done are still to be done and I'm done with this whole thing. This guy has zero respect to clients, your time is shit in his eyes and he could just disappear with your already PAID $69 groupon. I cannot bear this anymore. I write this so long just to let everybody know what a guy he is and what "service" he'll provide you. Patient as I am, rescheduled by him 3 times and finally disappeared, I can't let you guys go through this again. No wonder there're so many 1 star ratings for him, we've been through the same thing. I can't believe there are any negative reviews here - Joe is amazing! Super helpful, reliable, prompt and very knowledgeable. He helped plaster and deal with bubbling wall in the bathroom, recaulk bathroom and kitchen, stabilize a leaning basin in the bathroom, uninstall and install a very difficult kitchen sink and now i have a bunch more projects i will be wanting him to execute! He came out, gave me an estimate and we chatted a bit and I really enjoyed talking to this knowledgeable guy, We made an appointment to do some woodwork and minor repairs around the house. Joe and his helper came and knocked out the work neatly and professionally, installing a number of oak treads for my staircase and matching and staining the steps handrail perfectly. I needed to transform my bathroom and a new counter top in my kitchen as well as fix the cracks in the plaster of my beautiful 1905 Craftsman bungalow. Yes, the place needed some serious TLC and Super Handyman was there for the rescue. Joe came in and gave me estimates as well as creative options. My budget had some constraints so Joe went back to the drawing board and helped me rethink what I had planned so that my budget would work. He's a no nonsense guy from New Hampshire and he is wonderfully direct as well as being very easy to work with. His crew is fantastic. I should have left a review last year when the work was done. I have a craftsman house in West Adams and Super Handyman Service has taken care of it over the past 4 years. Last year his crew did a bathroom and kitchen remodel for me that we tried to keep with the original look as much as possible that was just lovely. I also had my electric and siding updated and a deck built in the back. The deck was built about 4 years ago. This guy is from the east coast and does good work and his crew is excellent and professional. I initially hired Joe because he is licensed and insured, a rarity among handymen. I see some negative reviews here. I can tell you he is busy most of the time. I highly recommend Super Handyman Service. My only critique is yes, they have alot of work and once in a while over the years my appointments had to be postponed. I think he tries to fit everyone in. . . but it was always communicated to me, so I don't mind. I gave his number to a friend of mind and he built a pergola for her last year. I found Joe through Yelp LA, and so glad I contacted him. I have dealt with many repair "type" individuals over the years, and am thrilled to comment on one of the best - Joe Mastro of Super Handyman Service. Joe worked around my crazy schedule, met me on time (actually a few minutes early), gave me a more than reasonable estimate, completed all work before the promised time, and even performed some additional requests on a second bathroom. My master bath, which is white subway tile, was grey and the grout disgusting from the residue in the lovely Santa Monica water. Joe offered a great solution, arrived a few minutes before 8AM to begin the job, and in a day transformed my dingy bathroom into one that looked completely remodeled. My husband and I were amazed at the transformation. Joe and partner gave us the most beautiful, perfectly laid tile, cleaned the shower and floor grout, sealed, and recaulked where needed. He made the bathroom look like it did originally when the house was built. Joe was one of many handymen we had by the house to quote us on fencing in our front yard. He was definitely the nicest and easiest to talk to. His price was not the cheapest, but was not the most expensive either, not by a long shot. It was a fair and reasonable price and I believe you get what you pay for, so we went with Joe. He finished the job exactly as he said he would. The fence looks beautiful. He was always available via text or a phone call. I really felt like he wanted our fence to turn out well. I know he has bigger, better paying clients than us, but he still gave our little project all the attention it needed. This review is LONG over due. Joe helped me with a pretty unique plumbing project in the fall. I wanted some work done on my rental bathroom with minimal damage to the walls. He did a great job. He was able to use some materials I had already bought and didn't try to force me to buy new stuff. He also changed the measurements on the table when I asked him to. I was worried there was a problem with one of the parts I bought and when I called him to ask his opinion he said he'd install a new one free of charge if I needed to. It ended up working out fine though. All in all, it can be scary when you're a girly girl like me and incapable of keeping stuff in working order on your own. Joe was incredibly nice and professional and was also just fun to have around the place for the day. Do not waste your time with this guy!!! I called him to install grab bars in my bathroom, he agreed to perform the job and scheduled a time for him to complete the job, the day before he texted me to tell me that something had gone wrong at his other project and that we had to reschedule for another day. I agreed, the day came and when I noticed that 20 minutes had passed I called him and left a message, only for him to call me back and pretend that we had agreed at a different time and asked me to reschedule again. He had all of the equipment and tools needed to do the job and even showed up 1/2 hour early! We will not use anyone else but Joe from now on. A few weeks later, I reach him again and he apologized that something came up and he had to leave town, but now he's ready to schedule the work and get started....until he disappeared again. A few weeks later I contact him yet again and he's still interested in the job, but then he disappeared again. Joe did a deck repair for me that didn't last a year. When I asked him to honor his work he disappeared. Additionally, when he finished the job he told me he had accidentally overcharged me by $50 and would refund the money. I chased him for months, but never saw the refund, just getting one ecuse after another until he ultimately went silent. read more

Have had him do everything from mounting monitors on the wall (with all the wiring in the wall), to installing a Sonos system with speakers in the ceiling, to building a water capture system. I purchased a "livingsocial" voucher for three hours of handyman services by Joe. I set up an appointment with him for a small job and he seemed nice and professional over the phone. It took him about an hour to install a vanity top and faucet in our bathroom, but after he left, I realized there was water leaking from under my sink (which wasn't there before). Although Joe offered to come back to honor the two remaining hours on the voucher, I decided to hire a different handyman. The problem was as simple as wrapping a pipe in plumbers tape (which was stated in the faucet instructions) and reinforcing the area with some putty. Very disappointed... read more

Gave me a really good quote for a simple job. Approx $200 for 2 hours to install a motion sensor light (with 20% material mark-up). I should have known he was not going to be reliable since I had to re-confirm the date and time of the install twice. The job was scheduled for 12/22 @ 1:00 pm. He did not show up or call. I called twice around 2:00 pm, phone just rang and I could not leave a message - how convenient. There are many reputable and skilled handyman (woman?) who do this for a living and rely on referrals. We found Joe on Yelp, and after comparing quotes, I found his prices reasonable, so we decided to take a chance. Both time he arrived on time, Once, as I was leaving on a business trip, he had to get here at 5:00 am to make sure that the broken toilet worked would be working for the person who would be housing for me later that day.
