I turned away, took 3 steps toward the door but still is close eye sight of that clerk, then realized that the home test purchased was Covid only. I turned and approached that clerk, handed him that purchased test kit for exchange, and was directed to the rear of the store to the pharmacy where I found the 3 in 1 test kit. When I returned to pay the balance in that exchange ( about $2), the clerk discovered that the prior mistaken kit couldn't be returned or exchanged. He called the store manager. Both of us, the clerk and I, told her the mistake and that I had never left the store or the clerk's sight. I literally had the mistaken purchase for just 30 seconds in my hand. She adamantly refused to assist in correcting the mistake or refunding my money. She claimed "the CVS system will not allow it. There is nothing I can do." I purchased the second and correct test kit. My wife tested POSITIVE for influenza A. I won't be going back to any CVS if a soulless computer runs all customer service.

While I was in here, I asked one of the employees or owners about whether or not they'll update their products to be more wholesome and inclusive of everyone's food interests like the ones in Japan. There aren't enough lanes, the systems look like they were installed sometime during the Bush administration, and half of them are usually "temporarily out of service" with paper bags draped over the screens like little brown tombstones. The line regularly stretches toward the back of the store, so forget "quick trip." The few seasoned employees who work that area really do try, but most of the self-checkout staff have perfected the art of standing nearby while being remarkably unhelpful. Prices, of course, are sky high--which might be easier to swallow if the place didn't feel so out of control. Shoplifting is clearly a sport here; you can literally watch people grab cases of beer and stroll right out the door. Handheld baskets are scarce because those walk out too. Outside, the loading dock area frequently smells putrid, and the seating area that's supposed to be for paying customers is often taken over by loiterers and left dirty and uninviting. It's not exactly the relaxing neighborhood grocery vibe they're going for. And then there's the parking garage. The lighting is dim enough that you half expect a crime drama to be filming in the corner. It feels dingy, not safe or welcoming, and the escalators from the garage to the store are out of service so often they might as well be decorative art pieces. For a grocery store in the heart of Old Town, this place should feel clean, secure, and well-managed. Instead, it's giving "municipal chaos with luxury pricing."

Possible Card Skimmers - Be Careful…read more I stopped at this gas station because it's the last one before the highway. Everything seemed normal at first--the clerk was acting like any typical store employee. When I went to pay, I tried to tap my card, but it wasn't working. The clerk immediately told me the machine wasn't broken and that I needed to insert my card instead. That raised a small concern for me. I went back to my car to grab a different card and tried tap to pay again, but it still wouldn't work. When I mentioned that the machine might not be functioning properly, the clerk suddenly became very aggressive and upset, insisting I insert the card. After my card finally went through, the clerk became even angrier and tried to kick me out, even though I was already leaving. The reaction seemed very unusual just for pointing out a possible issue with the payment machine. Because of how strongly he pushed for card insertion instead of tap, and how aggressively he reacted when I questioned it, it honestly made me uncomfortable. I'm canceling my cards just to be safe. If you stop here, I'd recommend paying with cash. Also be aware that the staff seemed very rude to multiple customers while I was there.

It is interesting to see how people are oblivious to everything around them. Inside, it is set up like your traditional convenience store. However, smelling like Subway bread the whole time in here. Service inside is not always the best. I found it to be interesting that they would always find a way to run from behind the counter when they see you coming towards it. Or they would simply turn their backs to you. Once one of them finally realizes you are there, it can be a bit congested like it is outside. I think they purposefully leave the one register down because to cater to those seeking lottery tickets. My favorite part here, the display case with all the plastic food that they may have available. Not only is there a Subway inside, but you get your selection of the 7-11 fare.
