I have mixed feelings. I think this is probably the best fresh seafood option in Northern Virginia with a wide variety of different types of fish. This is also a great destination for Asian, Latin, and Indian food items, but the customer service is poor and I felt discriminated against by the security. It was so weird. Initially I was like is this guy trying to hit on me or something because he was following me and then once I realized he was security, I was like you've got to be kidding me. I had already had my red snapper gutted or I would've left without purchasing anything. Virginia like many areas has pockets of ignorant racists and this is sadly no exception. Appearance should not matter, but racial profiling a 40+ year old impeccably dressed black woman in a supermarket is beyond me. I don't have time or energy for ignorance and will take my money elsewhere.

Being the international market enthusiast that I am, I've routinely shopped very many in the area including: Lotte HMart LA Mart Jumbo Red Apple Central Supermercado Megamart Latino Bestway Most tend to be Korean or Hispanic inspired, but I've been to a bunch of other smaller neighborhood ones from African to Indian to Persian and many others. I love the variety and uniqueness of international markets and have even visited them in other cities on travel. You can often find really good deals at many of these markets as well vs. the huge brand named grocery stores. The surprise of not knowing what you may find is exciting. Now add FreshWorld. Had never heard of it. Foodie friend of mine told me about it the day before and I went the next morning. Wow. Nice. Big. Very welll merchandised, smells good, customer service section, aisles numbered + organized by region, and even has some of the most unique produce I've seen at any international market. The seafood section is vast and the prices are really good so I'm adding this to my go-to list. If it crawls, grazes, flies, grows, or swims - FreshWorld probably sells it. They even had a case full of frozen durian, not to mention an assortment of other veggies I'd never heard of before from different parts of the planet. Large meat section, frozen and canned goods, spices, cleaning products aisle, and even some clothing and assorted sundries. It's a hodgepodge of variety. FreshWorld is located in a large strip mall in Springfield with many other restaurants + specialty stores on the opposite side of the huge parking lot. They have lots of checkout lanes and quite a few store personnel walking around to assist you and answer questions (which can be a challenge in some international stores). The environment here is very welcoming. Glad to add it to my lineup!

Peking duck with noodles made at home using fresh ingredients purchased at the market.

This place has a abundance of fresh produce from large Mexican avocados and mangos to mountains of peppers. I grabbed a couple fist fulls of fresh red chili peppers and bright orange habaneros along with some assorted vegetables for a spicy curry recipe at a reasonable price during my visit. My aunt and I also selected some delicious cooked duck and pork (asian style) that was rich and delicious and worth every cent. Fresh world further lived up to their name with a fish market and butcher which provided me with some Mexican and Chinese style sausage made on site that day. If you are looking for reasonably priced produce and fresh cooked and affordable Peking duck and pork than visit Fresh world instead of your local grocery chain. The only minor gripe is that we were approached by very religious christians that followed my aunt and I to our car telling us how much Jesus loved us and pushing pamphlets. They were not threatening and only pushy. Had they taken a polite no for an answer, I would have given the place 5 stars.

The cuts for KBBQ look good, the different flavors of soju excite me! It's hard to find so many flavors at other international markets. Many options in fruit, meats, seafood and other items through out store. Employees seem to not care when pushing around large pallets.

    The meat I purchased

First of all, they need to better train their cashiers. The cashier must of been training because she asked the bagger for the code to punch in prices for their produce. if I hadn't made sure of some of the prices that was displayed when I grabbed my items, I would have been over charged twice for kimchi and Korean pears! Secondly, I bought an eyeof round roast and as I was preparing it and slicing it for dinner, I noticed a DEAD FLY underneath! Lost my appetite and will never buy meat from here again! I am very disappointed by their management here. I live 40 mins away, so it's not easy to drive there and and just return the item. I have no intention of ever going back. Just wanted to warn future patrons of what to expect should you ever shop there.

I love this place...its better then H mart - chinese great wall market, grand mart, etc. They have some pretty cheap meats and veggies. They have a pretty good selection of veggies. This place can get really crowded and bunch of people just standing there blocking the already tiny aisles. I also saw a half dead pig here.. highlight of my day. They have more of Korean/Japanese/Mexican food than Chinese foods.

    Fish bones!

All these bones hide under some salmon trim cost almost $12.00! If I will not buy fish bones for $2.49 a pound!

Ok...it this place is the only supermarket in the neighborhood to get my Asian foods...I'll give them a 3 star. BUT...I went in looking for a few things and didn't find a few things that I wanted. NOT OK! Frozen meatballs? Not fresh? Not good! Lots of live seafood though....even crawfish. So that's cool! Other than that...if I can find a better place to get my Asian foods...I'll go elsewhere. The shopping kinda sucked too....too many bums there!

I just discovered fresh world a few days ago and I am in love with the variety of asian supplies they have! I used to love grocery shopping at H-mart but this changed my game on grocery time. I used to get asian ingredients from different stores but this made it easy cause I get all my shopping in one place. I love how fresh and abundant their supplies are and sales watch out for sales on fresh goods cause they offer such good deals.

The deli counter is definitely one of them. I went to Harris Teeter today looking for a different shopping experience than what I do every single week. Sadly,I didn't get it. Their produce department is absolutely beautiful. All of their shelves are well stalked and organized and staff in and around the deli area is beyond my expectation. The problem is with all that staff in the deli area , there's not a single person that wants to get behind that counter and cut your deli meats. Today I waited nine minutes with all manner of deli staff walking around me, and actually ignoring me from behind the deli counter. (I'll add that its not the first time) They may have figured out that I'm a Yelp reviewer, because the "manager" came over and offered herself to help me with my deli order - which by this time was too little too late. By comparison, I went to the meat and fish counter, where the minute I walked up, somebody was right there offering assistance, telling me to ask for them if I decided that I needed any help. Far cry from being ignored just a few feet away. Suggest cutting the dead weight in the deli. Staffing looks great on paper, but not in practice. There are 3 places at a grocery store where you actually need human help, deli, meat counter and cashier. If you want 66% then this is the store for you.

The Hilltop Wegman's has a few things going for it…read more I can tell you that they have a very good wine section, even including a few organic (no added sulfites) vinos. Wegman's also has excellent meat and seafood sections. The bakery is impressive. And one thing they have improved since we first shopped here five years ago is that they have toned down the blasting music that used to make us want to get fast out of Wegman's. The hot foods section used to be pretty good, but now it has shriveled down to next to nothing, The take-home pre-prepared meals, while very good in quality, are exorbitant. Plan on spending $16-$18 for a simple meal, which is as much as you would pay in a restaurant for the same stuff. While they have an abundance of self-check stations, Wegman's doesn't let you get cash back, like you can at Safeway. The self-check stations can be persnickety. Today, I encountered one machine claiming I had put an unchecked item in the bagging item before I had even started scanning my stuff. Yikes! But what I really don't like is how Wegman's does bagging. The Virginia legislature in 2022 passed a law allowing grocery stores to collect from customers 5¢ for each plastic bag used. Wegman's has completely done away with plastic bags, yet Wegman's but takes advantage of that law to charge 5¢ for each paper bag. The icing on the cake is their paper sacks do not even have handles.
