Yes, there is a bit of that typical "farmer's market" when it's really not a farmer's market…read more.. candles and some questionable potions for whatever ails you, jewelry that looks kind of semi-mass-produced (but not sure about that)... but, for the most part, this place has some really great food, lots of people milling around (but not too many), good-looking produce and specialty cheese places, breads and prepared foods, a couple of places with good coffee/espresso, upstairs is a Pork Belly Restaurant that serves everything pork belly that I did not try but would have loved to (looked casual-but-quality). I had a great time poking around but I'll bet this place is SWAMPED during high season.
I stopped at the little stand that makes gorditas and assorted mexican specialty dishes (you can see pictures from other reviewers) and had a chicken and cheese taco that they first stuffed and egg into! They actually separated the layers in the corn taco and poured an egg into it before heating it up in the griddle... very cool and very good.
