We visited La Comer in San Miguel de Allende for the first time and were impressed by the wide selection--many items you'd find in the U.S. The store is very clean and offers food, a café, electronics, and household goods--basically everything you might need. We received friendly service and I highly recommend it. read more

I just reviewed my order and am missing two items that I was charged for. No one answers the phone at the number provided. Do we have NO recourse when the delivery man has left and our order is incomplete?? read more

Good and fresh selection of fruits/vegetables/milk & meat products & a bit cheaper than City Market across the street (though La Comer supposedly "owns" City Market in SMA. More locals seem to shop here than at City Market. Clean & organized. read more

we have only lived in San MIguel de Allende for one month. Having said that the grocery etc store, La Comer has been wonderful. It is clean and filled with many of the products we enjoy in the United States. The staff is attentive and professional. Wonderful store. read more

La Comer needs to improve their on line ordering. Don't get me wrong, the store is impeccable, the food selections are great. When you order on line, you are given the option credit card or pay cash upon delivery. I used my AmX on line. Order goes thru very nicely, you are given a receipt showing all the items order, and you get a nice feeling. THEN you receive the delivery and they ask for more money. You are not given the reason, there is nothing showing that your card was not approved, and you get the feeling you are being taken to the cleaners. First time it happened, I was upset and returned my order, went in the next day, bought my groceries, and yes, spoke with the store manager. They acted like...oh....we will look into it. I ordered the second time, thinking ok...they have their IT problem fixed. Guess what??? Same thing happened. This time, I made the driver wait...called AmX and realized there was no charge on the card. I paid cash upon delivery. Their system is off. Not accurate, and yes, it is VERY frustrating. My thought is...why in the SamHill...do they request my credit card information. Now the store has my card number. I do not like. So Shopper BeWare! Pay attention. read more

La Comer, or the new "City Market" is unique in itself with glimmering isles and overhead lighting that screams "Tinseltown and Hollywood". The store offers no more than an overhaul of products with it's sister market "La Comer" on an opposite side of the highway. The wine selection is stellar, along with imported cheeses and other select trendy items. The store boosts several "in-store" restaurants, or eating venues. It was our unfortunate experience to sit at the Fish bar with an amazing tank in the center with circulating live fish, but the glamour ends there. My first startled observation was a bar of white rice resting on a cutting board unattended for over 20 minutes until a novice employee tried to attach thinly sliced fish over the top, practicing like it was a new movement on a balance beam. The employees hovered around like zombies with expressions of "awe". That in itself was a "red flag" but my husband wanted fish. We ordered two different "sopas" and each one glass of wine. It took over 10 minutes for wine to appear as the intern on the other side of the bar had difficulty opening the bottle of wine for me. My husband's soup came first with many shrimp in a red sauce. He started eating even though he thought the soup was not his, but, my order. To me it couldn't have been mine as mine was supposed to have "pescados y cameron with a cheese sauce. His soup was totally shrimp which he ordered. He ate his soup and finally mine came and looked like a quarter cup of creamy liquid with raw corn kernals in it and two small shrimp and no fish. I was aghast. The soups did not represent what was on the menu and I called over a person from behind the bar and told them my observations. They claimed I was wrong. My husband had to leave and finish our shopping and called for the "La cuenta" before he left and handed me some cash. I hadn't finished my wine and wanted to do so slowly and try to enjoy the moment. Before I knew it a huge waiter with glasses, and a dirty beard was standing behind me on my right and kept repeating something in Spanish. I asked in Spanish if there was a "Problema?". "NO" he replied, but, he hung his head over my shoulder looking into my purse with an intimidating pose and wouldn't leave after I asked him several times what the problem was and asked him in English to get away from me. Then I told him in Spanish to get a manager who could speak English. I was very angry and upset with this treatment. I could barely get my cash out and settle the bill with his overbearing..I got out of my seat and finally a young women came and asked me what was happening. I told her about the man's treatment of me and that the food was wrong and the service worse because of the way this man behaved. To make all matters worse, my husband got sick as soon as we arrived to our house. The food was sub-par, the workers UNTRAINED and ignorant of how to handle food and treat customers! City Market with all it's lights and glamor is a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. Do not eat fish there. Our son who lives here told me to understand the development of a new enterprise here. Forget it! I'll take a toco stand and the Tuesday Market any day to the phoniness of City Market! read more
This is one of the most popular big box grocery stores in town. It's located on the main road that comes into town. They have a very large selection of groceries including some imported items. It is considered and up market store. The pastries and vegetables and meats are nicer than you'll find that most other stores in the area. They also Have a some household items such as televisions and small motorcycles. For things not available in the market, this is where I usually buy my groceries. read more
