Super Power is AWESOME! A Great date spot, great friends spot, great night time spot, great everything spot the drinks are delicious here and a pretty reasonable price. The beachcomber, slow reveal are my two favorites so far and I've tried most of the drinks on the menu. The vibe here is Brooklyn meets tiki bar and it's perfect. I would suggest trying a lot of menu items over time and finding which is your favorite! This place is not welcoming to longterm residents of the neighborhood (i.e. those of a certain "hue"). I had an experience similar to the poster (T.F.) who posted 7 months ago. I felt my presence was tolerated, not welcomed. I went a couple times in late March and early April 2017. I ordered several drinks, multiple orders of oysters, plus entree on each occasion. I tipped generously each time (as I usually do). Neither time did the bartenders (blond male, southeast Asian or middle eastern female with short pageboy bob, dark hair cut) inquire about the satisfaction of my meal. NEITHER TIME WAS I THANKED BY BARTENDER FOR MY TIP. THEY LITERALLY TOOK MY CURRENCY WITHOUT A SINGLE WORD or thanks. The male bartender was pleasant enough when I asked him questions about the place and the oysters. The female bartender made it clear from "get go" I was not her priority when I walked in. As I sat down on the bar stool, she motioned to guests who were standing outside smoking (those of whiter "hue"), "there's people sitting there". Other than deigning to take my order, these are the only words we exchanged. It is obvious this establishment only cares about the hipsters/gentrifiers in neighborhood. I have news for you, superpower brooklyn: YOU ARE THE INTERLOPER!! I have friends who have OWNED HOMES in this neighborhood since 1955 (when Eisenhower was President)! I am relative newcomer (lived in CH since 1998). I am so tired of the stereotypes associated with people in this neighborhood, as evidenced by the bigoted postings on brooklynian.com and this past week's misguided, sterotypical advertising by a new restaurant on Nostrand Ave. (In this neighborhood). NEWSFLASH: we are not a monolithic race. Like yours, we are multi-faceted. Don't assume the person on your bar stool who is sporting ethnic hair style is a criminal or welfare king/queen. Point of reference: My sister and I have graduate degrees from Ivy League universities. Our parents sacrificed, scrubbed floors, rode bicycles between 2 jobs so we would not have to. Oh, the second star is because the food was tasty! Points off for service. P.S. have been to another hipster haven half a block off Nostrand Ave in same zip code and same demographic and was treated differently(i.e. welcomed, thanked, acknowledged). read more

This is an awesome local tiki bar. $1 oyster happy hour is shuckers choice, but they have a good spread of oysters from all over east and west coast. The sangria was the best I've had in a long time. I really like this spot. The decor is great and the frozen Painkiller cocktail is friggin' delicious. The staff was very friendly and professional, but maybe could have used a second bartender (one arrived eventually) for Saturday afternoon/early evening because it was quite busy, but deservedly so. I like this little spot! It's a bit dark inside but the outside garden area is perfect! Their Caribbean inspired rum cocktails are expensive but strong, and they have a great happy hour. Easy to miss their sign from the outside so look closely! read more

Really love coming here. The drinks are great, and the few food items they serve they make incredibly well. The staff is also incredibly friendly and attentive. Just went here yesterday for the first time. I really want to like this place, and I'm definitely giving it the benefit of the doubt, since it's so new. I'm very glad that a place like this is right around the corner from where I live. And I look forward to coming again when they work out some of their "newness" (and open the back yard "oasis"). Unfortunately, I caught a glimpse of their sample food menu a while back before they opened, and their current food menu, with about 5 smallish items, is nowhere near that. Oysters, pulled pork, hot dog, chips, and nachos is the extent of it (for now). I guess people aren't going here mainly for the food, but the owner seemed like they wanted to have a bigger food menu, boasting a larger kitchen than his other place, Bearded Lady. Not sure what happened, or if they are still working on growing it out. I tried the nachos and banh mi beef dog, and both were really good. I'm really hoping they will expand upon the menu to offer the ceviche, lobster roll, and a bigger oyster selection from their sample menu. And I'm also hoping they update their Yelp and/or Facebook "website" to show their actual menu as they grow. I couldn't find any info online other than a customer-posted drink menu photo. Not sure why a bar/restaurant wouldn't want to post an easily accessible menu online for potential customers. All that being said, the oyster happy hour is amazing! The oysters were some of the best I've had at any $1 happy hour. Though, it was a bit disappointing when the menu just said "oysters", without giving a specific kind. Even when they were brought to the table, no one told us there were 3 different kinds in the dozen we ordered. They REALLY need to work on the menu information and table service. I had to go up to the bar to order food and oysters, instead of anyone coming to the table. Perhaps they are still working that out as well, while they grow. Like I said, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt... for now. Only because I really do want to like this place. The drinks were okay. I'm not a big rum person, but I'd say the presentation was the highlight. Very pretty and carefully made drinks. My only really big complaint (other than not having any ceviche), was that the music was so loud, I couldn't hear the person sitting next to me. No idea why the music needed to be that loud at 7pm on a Wednesday. I may go back and try it again when they open the back yard in a month. I'm sure they can't have music that loud outside. Love this spot! Cocktails are $10 ($9 on happy hour) but have that $14 quality. The nachos are suuuuuuper good and well priced for the portion. They've also got really delicious high quality rums that are good for sipping neat, if you think you're not a rum drinking, try a good one, you'll change your mind. read more

Shai or how ever you spell her name is the worst example of a bartender. After making a scene about she needs to check id's( our party was made of 2 black females and 1 black gentlemen)which we had. She proceeds to let several other patrons order and pay for drinks without checking id's. She also proceeded to ignore us as well as other all black parties, we sat at the bar for over 45 minutes waiting to order and watching her not ask a single other person for id. Her attitude is disgusting and her profiling us was more than enough to have me not return and to leave this review. She also thought she was cute with her stomach hanging out. Super Power is the best!! I called ahead to reserve some tables for my birthday party and Hunter could not have been nicer. The bartenders and wait staff were also so accommodating when the party ended up more in their beautiful backyard than at the reserved tables . They also let me bring my own cake, which I really appreciated!
