a glass of wine on a bar

Super cool, classy, thoughtful establishment that features exceptional beers--wide swath of styles in every delivery method possible--draft, can, bottle pour--multiple pour sizes available for drafts, and you'll be certain to get every beer in it's appropriate glass--a true beer lover's Mecca. I saw they had a bourbon country release event here right before Thanksgiving and made sure to get here to sample those glorious limited time offerings. I would say that this is a true beer person's beer bar, though--a major positive for me, but just something to keep in mind. They do have some wine and no food (though welcoming to your ordering food/bringing in food). Feels very much like you are here to drink and appreciate beer and chat and...that's it. I can't help but feel the spot needs one more element... either board games, or a jukebox... even a TV (though I don't see it as a TV kind of bar). It was comfy inside but super quiet and staid. It was a rainy night, so perhaps a more crowded and festive night would have supplied its own vibe. As enjoyable as it was, just felt like it needed one more element to put it over the top. But overall I look forward to coming back, especially when I'm jonesing for some top notch beer!

Tried a few different styles at Queue Beer on Saturday evening. A new beer bar that fits a unique role in an area packed with breweries, but not a lot of spaces bringing them all together. Quality: Queue Beer is a relatively new beer bar, but one with a clear understanding of the New York and northeast beer scene. The drafts and can/bottle selections include a lot of the big boys in beer. I enjoyed a Hill Farmstead IPA and a J Wakefield stout during my visit. Expect a diverse and delicious selection of beers on the menu. Quantity: Sizes well marked on the menu as they vary by selection. Value: $8-$16 for Full Draft Pours. Ambiance: Queue Beer is a beer bar located at the very edge of Carroll Gardens, right before running into Red Hook. The space seems born out of the Other Half overflow, particularly the lines that form on new release dates. The space is very simple and chic, a long bar and a few tables around it. The taps and glasses all shimmered like new. During out visit the bartender pulled down a big screen and put on March Madness, which was a great addition, though it blocked out the windows. I will say the extremely quiet or potentially no music on in the background was odd. Crowd: It looked empty from outside, but a birthday gathering brought a big crowd. Service: One man running the show, and despite being crowded he was doing a great job. Parking: Decent amount of street parking nearby.

We split a bottle of one of the lightly chilled chiantis the Fiasco and it was perfection. We mainly got the winter specials which were the asparagus, smoked eel, duck salad and scallops which were all truly phenomenal. The scallop dish was quite small so not the best for sharing but the rest were all amazing. From the regular menu we got the mushroom toast which was absolutely delicious and great for sharing and the pork chop which is one of the best dishes I have ever had. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and was incredibly juicy. For dessert, we got the creme brûlée which I am also still thinking about and one of the best desserts I have ever had. Would absolutely come back!

Tasty cocktails but I do wish they had more options on the menu -- there are only 3 cocktails to order from. Half chicken with scallion ginger sauce was pricey for the portion size with no sides but perfectly cooked and seasoned. Chocolate dessert was also fantastic!

Everything on the menu looked amazing, so I had the waiter choose my dish/wine pairing and he did a great job! I got the pesto with shrimp. The pasta is handmade and the wine is natural from Italy. The pesto is made the day of in the morning. All fresh ingredients. They have indoor seating and then more seating in the back that is the perfect spot. I love the exposed brick wall. This might be my new favorite Italian spot. I will be back soon! Thank you for the amazing experience.

Instead of picking a wine from a menu, you tell your server the flavor and mood of wine you're looking for and they bring out glasses or a bottle for you based on that. The food here is delicious and I was happy to see gluten free pasta options. The pork ragu was good but I was truly impressed by how good the texture of the gluten free pasta was. For me, the show stopper was the branzino. It was seasoned perfectly and the potato crust was a fun touch. The salad was nice and simple, but didn't blow me away. Portion sizes were good, though the prices are on the higher side. The restaurant is a great place for a friends' night or date night, and I'd keep the group small or make a reservation in advanced because it gets busy. It is definitely a more expensive spot, but worth it!
