It's been many months since I've been here but my daughter, D., wanted to get a haircut so we stopped in last week. The stylist, Maria, looked at my daughter's hair ("D." is half Samoan) and said,"I used to work in Cali and have lots of experience cutting black girls hair." This woman went on to yank a brush roughly through D's hair as she went on to say that most stylists in Salem would take one look at D's "black girl's hair" and refuse to cut so it would be best to just come back to see her. D's money fell out of her pocket onto the floor so she leaned forward to pick it up. Maria grabbed the apron/smock that was tied around D's neck and pulled backwards, instructing D to sit up. This resulted in D getting choked a bit. At this point, I was starting to wonder what Maria's problem was. We had asked for hair thinning and long, angled bangs. Maria thinned D's hair and when D asked that it be thinned more, Maria used the thinning scissors about 2 inches from the scalp. Now, I'm no hair stylist but it seems to me that if you cut very curly, kinky, frizzy textured hair that short it would just curl up and stick out, right? Then Maria chopped D's bangs. It was awful. I have pictures of the uneven, choppy, and very ugly job. D. paid and left then sat in the car with me and started crying. She felt so horrible about both the way her hair looked and for being told that no one would want to cut her "black girl's hair". Since Maria had given me her card with her cell number, I called and spoke to her when I got home. She apologized and said she would refund my daughter's money the next day. I took D. in the next morning and Maria handed us a refund as soon as we walked in. I thanked her for the refund and told her I still needed to speak to her. She had a customer in her chair but I had to let this woman know that what she said, how she treated my daughter, and how badly she cut D's hair was just so wrong. She did apologize repeatedly to my daughter although she insisted that she did cut properly. I thanked her for apologizing to my daughter and then left. I am posting pics so you can all see what I am talking about. The pic on the left is after Maria cut D's bangs. Pic on right is after my friend, who is not a stylist, trimmed and cleaned up Maria's work. I would caution anyone with non-Caucasian hair from getting a haircut from this person. I used the FiveStars app to get a free haircut on my birthday and I was very pleased that I did. My hair is thick and complicated, and I felt that Maria was very confident and cut it exactly as I asked her to. I was also pleased that a haircut doesn't cost TOO much more than I was used to paying at the college of hair. The shop was tidy and sanitary, and Maria was dressed very professionally. I hope to be able to come back in the future, and I would highly recommend Maria Nuno. read more

I was looking to get my sons hair cut at the last minute. He lives in Salem so I had to drive to him. He has school pictures tomorrow and I didnt think I would make it in time. I called a few salons and no one would help me. Until I called Super clips in Salem on Lancaster. I spoke to Jade and she was very friendly and helpful. I asked her if I could come in after hours to get my sons hair cut. She said let me talk to my boss about that. Her boss said yes. Her name is Amy. I was so happy! When I got to the salon it was still open! Meaning they say what they mean and mean what they say here. The salon was very clean bright lights. Most of all excellent customer service! This is the standard all companies should follow. I will always take my son here. read more

Well the woman working seemed to be in a rush. My haircut was not what I asked for. To top this all off she asked me to plunge her toilet because I'm a boy, no joke. I now have a shaved head and still offended that I plunged a toilet I never used. This has been weighing on my heart for a week now and I feel like this is a piss poor superclips. read more

This place gives great haircuts for the price. While a lot of inexpensive salons look really cheap and tacky, this one is beautiful. It makes you feel like your at an upscale place, but its totally affordable. I recommend to anyone who needs a haircut on a budget they do a good job. read more

Very dissatisfied with this place. Took my 11 year old in for an $8 haircut that was advertised on the window. She took 2 minutes to cut his hair the way she wanted . she went to ring us up. She charged $10. I said no it says $8 for ages 11 and under. She said well he is close to 12. He turns 12 the end of September. She then said well he looks 12. I again pointed to the sign on the window. She told the other lady that works there. We need to change that. She then throws $2 down and says here take my tip money then. I will not be going back. Extremely rude. I don't usually write reviews but i didn't think this was good customer service at all. Its not about the $2 because i would have left more than that for a tip. I just don't like dishonesty . You honor what you advertised. That is business. If it's a good business. read more

I was waiting outside for the store to open when one of the managers? She open the doors but park so close to me that I couldn't get out. I wanted to ask for the prices about there hair dye but I'm glad I didn't. Very rude service even before I get inside, I see why nobody comes here. Hire newer and nicer employees. read more

Very sweet staff, and affordable. However, my daughter's haircut was a bit uneven and they missed a few spots on my eyebrow wax. Also, woke up the next day to a painful red spot where she got me with the tweezers. I'd rather pay a little more to have it done better,on my opinion. read more

This is a great place for a quick trim. I've been going here for a long time and I was born and raised in Salem. It's a small mom and pop shop. The people who owned it before let it get really ran down, but the new management has really re-done the place and made it more welcoming and customer friendly. Amy is kind and does a great job with my hair. Their new look really stepped the place up, before when I used to go in, I'd cringe at the appearance and the way it was so unkept, but now after it's facelift, it's bright and warm and makes me feel better being there. Even if I'm paying a very small amount of money for a haircut, it still should be a place that is inviting and clean, so good job with the new remodel. I'll be back in a few weeks. read more

Amy is great!! She is fast and affordable and cuts my hair perfectly every time. She's also friendly and easy to talk to.

Customer service is really poor they are more concerned with watching tv then cutting hair... this is probably why I received the worst hair cut I could imagine. I was polite and quite for the hair cut. There was even that usual small talk that they have with new customers. She cut my hair and styled it and it looked good as I left so I even tipped... I get home take a shower to get all that itchy hair off and to my surprise it was completely uneven with spots of really long hair that didn't get cut and was lopsided because she just styled it to look even and didn't actually make it even. Now I have read reviews similar to this one when I am looking for a haircut and I think "well thats an over exaggeration" but unfortunately it isn't in this case. It was so bad I shaved off the rest and had my dad fix the line on the neck. What a waste of time and money! You have been warned! Don't get a hair cut from the short woman! She maybe hot but she is terrible at cutting hair! read more
