If I had not had that bad experience, this would be a 4 star, maybe 5 star review. But I am moderating it based on what I experienced in the past, while keeping an open mind for raising it in the future. Rosibel was my stylist for my haircut. She did a great job all around. My shampoo was relaxing, I could see her focused on getting my hair right while she did the actual cutting, and her blow dry styling was wonderful. Even my husband noticed, and he doesn't really pick up on that stuff. I was so happy with how my hair looked, it felt like a shame that I was just going home, haha. I wanted to show it off, and that is not my typical post-haircut mood.

During my session, she was great about only giving me a trim and a shape up. She didn't cut too much off and made sure to add movement w the way she cut it. Next, we went over my current hair regimen, what works and what isn't working. Then she went over key ingredients to look for and product types that would work well for my hair. While she was washing and styling my hair, she had me hold a mirror during crucial steps so I could see what she was doing so I could replicate the process at home. I pulled into one of their clearly labeled spots because the person I was with literally went inside to ask about prices -you know, like a potential customer. Not even two minutes later, this girl (pictured below) struts out and says, "Hello, do you mind moving? My client is behind you!" I politely said, "No problem, the person I'm with is inside asking questions." She says "thank you" and then, without skipping a beat, walks right in front of my car and takes a picture of my license plate. When I asked, "Why are you taking a picture of my car?" she actually said, "I'm sending it in so you can get a ticket." Be for real. You're mad at me for waiting in a parking space for someone who's literally inside your salon asking about your prices? I've never seen customer service this petty. Like, girl, maybe focus on your clients' hair instead of trying to get strangers ticketed. The energy was so unprofessional, so unnecessary, and honestly just plain mean. If this is how they treat people who show genuine interest in their business, I can only imagine what it's like once they actually have your money. So yeah ... if you're thinking about coming here, think twice unless you're into bad vibes, bad attitudes, and bonus parking tickets. Because Moisture Salon? What a great experience! I've been straightening/blowing out my hair since I can remember but it…read morenever quite looked right. During the pandemic I skipped using heat tools a few times and was like: wait, is my hair curly? It sure is. But every time I get it cut and then let it go natural, the layers are wonky and it gets super frizzy. Decided it was time to get a curly cut and wanted a place that specialized. Enter Moisture Salon. I showed up for my appointment with about a minute to spare (there was a road closure and I don't think I've ever been to Schenectady before so that was fun), parked in a lot a few blocks away and walked over. The signage is clear and cute. Greeted by two friendly doggos, Jenny and Chichi. Brooke introduced herself and took me back where she looked at my hair and asked tons of questions. First, she cut my hair dry and talked to me about some of my concerns and we discussed my constant state of "am I or am I not growing in my gray." I think I am. When she washed my hair she really showed me how much buildup there was and then used a shampoo made for people with hard water before feeling the difference again. Yikes! She had me bed over and watch how she applied products into my hair and all the different amounts and processes. It was so helpful. She also taught me a trick for getting my curls to be a little more bouncy at the top of my head, where they are often kind of stretched out. At the end, I had far more definition and bounce and was handed a microfiber towel, clips and a helpful card to help me get used to how to take care of my hair. It's two days later and it still looks great. Looking forward to a 4-month check in to see if it's more moisturized. Brooke and Ron are great and I've definitely found the right place for me! I went in for a hair cut with shoulder length curly hair and a grown out undercut. I showed front…read moreand back photos of the style of cut I wanted, a curly mop cut with a stacked back and shaved undercut. The front should have been several inches longer than the back. Instead my undercut had tuffs of hair left in spots, my hair was cut into the shape of a helmet (front and back dramatically shorter than sides), none of the layers were blended and the right side is almost 2 inches longer than the left. I have been going to the Orlo for my hair since I was a teenager. I have stopped going as often in the last 5 yrs or so do due more upsetting haircuts than good ones I will be going to a Salon to have this corrected as best as possible.

Long time customer -- we got cuts here the first day Mario's opened -- but we are emphatically…read morenever going back again. I took the kids back for a couple of post-peak-pandemic haircuts, after a long enforced absence, and on the two occasions, only one of three hair cutters was masked, and that one had it below his nose. One of the cutters can't stop making political remarks, which is the last thing I want to be subjected to while getting a cut. And the quality of the cuts is way down since Mario himself was in the first chair. I had one kid who asked for something stylish for the grades he was in, and the hair cutter had no idea what to give him. He proceeeded to give him a "standard" hair cut. The other kid came off the chair with a small bald patch on one side of the back of his head and what looked like a side rat tail on the other. There's been 100% turnover in cutters; we wish Mario, Luis, Geno, and Michelle were back. Mario was a great guy, I wish him well in retirement, but the quality control is non-existent here.
