The best haircut I've gotten in a long time. I want to thank my stylist Ren! Ren gave me the exact cut I wanted for 1/3rd of the price of other salons. I usually get my hair trimmed at home but I wanted to try layers. Ren was so kind and talked me through the process whenever I had questions. My hair has natural waves so I'm always worried about it being too short and curling up when it's dry. The picture attached is my hair dry with no product. It's a great length. Should you be expecting amazing service and a glass of champagne? No. Do they do a good job at cutting hair? Sometimes - largely depends on your stylist. My general life advice is don't go to a chain expecting superior quality. If you have a specific cut or color in mind it would be worth saving a little bit more money to go to a salon that is a bit more pricey. You wouldnt go to McDonalds ordering salmon so don't go to Supercuts expecting them to bend over backwards for you. With that being said, I really like the way my hair turned out and will totally be coming back to maitain it. I asked Naya to just cut the split ends off and we agreed on 1 inch being an appropriate length to chop. She sectioned off my hair, cut the split ends off, and made sure the length was even on both sides. The salon itself is also pretty nice. They have a nice selection of products and I was very surprised to find the Paul Mitchell awapuhi shampoo and conditioner was sold here. Also, I can confirme the online check in does work. read more

One of my favorite parts of the Supercuts here in the Pitt campus is that the workers are really friendly and hip to the college culture. They know what you want, whether or not you describe it right, and give you exactly what you want. In addition, student discounts! Really good to know that Supercuts supports the student community around them. Also, some workers here are really awesome, and have given me exceptional service. They'll always take care to go the extra step, and add their touch of finesse to the cut. Even if you didn't like the rounding of a corner or a length was too long, everyone will go through the motions again to make you happy. I am new to town and I was in dire need of a haircut. While I lived in Philadelphia, the same guy cut my hair for nearly 10 years, who happens to be the best stylist the the area. Because I am used the high-end hair salons, I was quite trepidations about trying a chain salon like Supercuts. However, I saw a coupon in the paper and thought I would give it a try. Everyone was very friendly and the facility was bright and clean and there was no wait. Brenee (Brenay?) shampooed and cut my hair. She did a wonderful job and recommended a great product for fine hair that I ended up purchasing. I was shocked at how inexpensive the cut and shampoo was! It was 20.00 (16.00 with the coupon) for the services and 18.00 for the product! I don't usually purchase products at the salon because I can't afford them after a cut, but Supercuts is priced so low that I could afford the extra indulgence! I will certainly be returning regularly and will happily recommend Supercuts in Oakland to anyone who wants a great haircut! read more

The ladies here are awesome. It is almost always busy due to its location so I would suggest making an appointment, unless you don't mind waiting for a while. I've been getting my hair cut here for the past two years and they've always given me great service. Any time I wasn't completely satisfied with the cut I've been able to come back and they've fixed it free of charge. I would not recommend this place for any waxing services. Twice now I've gotten my lip waxed here and ended up with my skin ripped off. The most recent time left a raw spot that covers almost half of the area above my lip, which is taking forever to heal because the scab that has formed rips every time I open my mouth. I have been here multiple times and have yet to get an acceptable haircut. I only go in for a buzz cut, but something always seems to go wrong and I end up having to go shorter than I desire in order to cover up a mistake. The employees do not have any visible cosmetology certificates, and where I am from, this is required by law. They were relatively friendly but got annoyed after I wanted them to fix their mistake. I have made the mistake of going to this location multiple times for overpriced and awful haircuts and I hope my experience can shed a light on the true nature of the business. read more

I came here earlier this week to chop my hair off and donate it to Locks of Love. Would you believe they are the only chain of salons that I could find that offered a free hair cut if you donate your hair. I called around to multiple chains and independently owned salons all they would do is cut what I was willing to donate but not actually style the cut. Anyways on to the cut. I walked in around 9:30 and there were 2 very nice women waiting for customers. The wonderful lady who did my hair was named Renee. She was everything I could hope for in a hair stylist. She was professional, personable and most of all the listened. I am one of those people who is terrified of getting my hair cut. Let's just say I've had some bad cuts. I just can't tell you how happy I am with her skills. Renee gave me exactly the cut I had asked for and didn't just chop it off and shoo me out the door. I will honestly come back here the next time I need a cut. I'm so sooo happy with the results. read more

AWFUL job!!!!! I went to get my dead ends cut off because it had been a while since I cut my hair, and I go in asking for my dead ends to be cut off and for light feathering around my face so that when I put my hair up in the lab, there would be prices that I could pull down. So not only does the stylist cut my hair in pretty thick chunks without separating my thick hair into sections on the top and bottom layers, but she never checks if they're even! And then the feathering. She cuts me what are almost really long bangs reminiscent of my emo/scene bangs from middle school that are uneven and choppy. I've donated my hair many times and the 15 year old cosmetology students who volunteered to cut hair using the ponytail method that is required for hair donations did better. It looks like I just donated my hair instead of the freshening up like I wanted. I never, EVER leave yelp reviews simply because I am too lazy to write them, but I am so unbelievably mad that I cannot even begin to describe my anger. Now I'm out $25, something precious to a college student like myself, and now I have to pay MORE MONEY to go get it fixed somewhere else because I don't know if I trust the stylists here to fix it. read more

I've had several haircuts at supercuts and other businesses like it over the years. The Oakland location of Supercuts always seems to get my haircut just right, which is a plus. I'm not a very high maintenance individual, but their knowledge of military hair regulations is pretty good and helps me when selecting where to get my cut. They offer a military discount, which I truly appreciate, and the stylists are usually friendly and conversational. Dawn cut my hair this time, and I was able to carry on an amiable and consistent conversation with her for the duration of my haircut, I would recommend highly to those in need of a cut, yet still on a budget. read more

Do NOT go there. I went to get my haircut yesterday and I took a picture of the haircut that I wanted. The stylist and I agreed on shoulder length hair since it is curly and will bounce up a bit. Everything seemed fine until one side was much shorter than the other. I had to tell her it was uneven. Then she proceeded to cut it shorter to fix it. It still wasn't right. She had to ask another stylist for help and that stylist said that the angle was wrong and the she should stop messing with my length to fix it. Now the longest layer on my hair just touches my ear, no where near my shoulder. I cried and cried. I will NEVER visit a supercuts again. read more

I went here yesterday afternoon(Nov 10,2012) to get my eyebrows waxed. I walk in and wait at the front desk to check in, this one girl comes up to the front desk and is very RUDE right away. She doesn't say hi, how can I help you? She says ''Do you need something'' with an attitude. I just looked at her in shock because I couldn't believe how rude she just was for no reason. So I finally check in and sit down and wait for a few minutes, as I sit there waiting for my turn I can't stop thinking of how rude the girl was and I start to get mad. Then she starts to be rude to the lady in her chair. This other guy walks in and stands at the front desk to check in and nobody pays him any attention. There other girl who already has somebody in her chair, just turns around looks at the guy doesn't say anything to him and then goes back to working on her customer. After that I just get up and walk out and end up going to Borics in the southside because I don't want to spend my money at a place that has such rude staff. The girls at Borics are very friendly and do a great job. As far as Supercuts goes, there is nothing super about them. This place doesn't deserve any stars but I had to give one star to complete this review. I will never go back to this supercuts again or any other supercuts for that matter. I hope this review helps people realize that if you are looking for somewhere to get a good hair cut/ eyebrow wax that has friendly people working. This place is NOT the place to go. read more
