Chelsea took on the challenge - consulted with some of her colleagues to determine the best plan to best fix my coloring and executed professionally. I was listening to my most favorite podcast (The Read), when one of the hosts said, "She's got that…read morehair where you go, 'sure, it's long, but those ends...yikes!'" I've been avoiding cutting my waist length hair, not particularly to maintain the longest tresses in all the land (though, it WAS verging on Rapunzel-esque), but more out of straight laziness. I knew I had some serious split ends, and I'd been willfully ignoring them (which is ridiculous given I have my cosmetology license and should know better, shhhh), but Crissle somehow saw me through the radio waves and said, "Lacey. It's time." I've always heard the best way to get a haircut or style that you truly love is to ask someone else with amazing hair who they patronize. This girl who shares my office building has the BEST hair, so I (being rather shy) girded my loins, asked where she has it done, and of course she was thrilled to tell me all about Rinse and Trang specifically, who cuts and colors her hair. She sent me the salon info, and I made an appointment. When I pulled up to the shop, it was not what I was expecting. This coworker is very put together and elegant and Rinse was...well, not. But looks can be deceiving, and here I was. I knew if I didn't do it then I'd probably wait another six months, so walked on in. It was a Friday afternoon, and I was about fifteen minutes early, but let them know I was there for an appointment, and settled onto one of the benches. The place was packed, and every few moments more customers bustled in. Most of their business is clearly via walk-in. I'd felt a little out of place, but as time went on it reminded me of living out East, and then I really started to enjoy the blend of people and different cultures, so often absent from my life in Utah. Just a few moments past my appointment time, Trang fetched me. She quickly washed my hair, then inquired what I'd like, to which I replied, as I always do, "I just want to keep it long, but I know my ends are bad, so cut off as much as you need to." She asked a few clarifying questions, and to each one I replied, "Whatever you think is best." She got to work, we chatted pleasantly as she cut, then swiftly blow dried my hair. And ya know what? I loved it! I truly never have a particular style in mind, but inevitably, I leave a salon thinking, "I don't love it, but this is fine." Through same magic, Trang knew what I wanted deep in my heart, even though I wasn't aware myself! That is real talent. She also did all this in under an hour, and while I mildly missed the epic styling I usually receive elsewhere (in fact she said, "Go home and curl your hair, play around with it and see what you think!" - certainly a first for me!), I just wash that out anyways, so who cares? A great haircut with perfect shape is what really matters, and that's what Trang gave me. Lastly, I pay $70+ everywhere else, and it was $33 here! For a much more skilled cut! You best believe there was a huge tip involved, and this is my new go-to salon.

I spent nearly 400$ to get a "Brazilian blowout" "smoothing" treatment and I'm so beyond disappointed. My hair is the same if not more dry and course than before the treatment. I wanted something to temporarily straighten my hair and I got confused by the messages with the salon which is my fault. But now after all is said and done, I'm just upset my hair feels and looks just a little bit worse if anything 4 hours of salon time and 400$ later. The lady Angela who did it was nice and did say it wouldn't straighten my hair all the way just make it more manageable. I just am very disappointed, as one would be.

I really wanted to support this artist and was excited to get my nails done, but unfortunately my…read moreexperience was disappointing and ultimately felt unprofessional. I booked a manicure and pedicure and asked in advance how long the appointment would take because I had a medical appointment afterward. She told me it would take three hours, but after nearly five hours, my nails still weren't finished no polish or design so we agreed I'd come back the next day to finish. I still paid the full amount (over $150) because I trusted her and wanted to show good faith. However, she didn't respond to me the next day as agreed, and I didn't hear back from her all weekend. When she finally reached out at the end of the weekend, she said she had lost her phone, but instead of scheduling me for that Monday, she told me I'd have to wait an entire week. I had a medical emergency come up that week (which I had already told her about before even booking), and unfortunately had to cancel. When I reached out again to try and reschedule, she said she wouldn't be redoing the service and that she "doesn't do free work" even though the service was never finished in the first place. The only "solution" offered was to take off the price of a nail art design next time, even though she previously told me she doesn't charge extra for that anyway. She also tried to say the reason the appointment took so long was because I didn't know what nail design I wanted, but that's simply not true. I picked my design while she was still filing and prepping my nails, before she was even finished with that step. It felt like she was using that as an excuse to shift the blame for poor time management. In the end, I paid over $150 and walked away with incomplete work and a lot of frustration. I value small businesses, but I also value honesty and professionalism. I showed up respectfully and in good faith, but unfortunately I wouldn't book w Bailey again based on how this was handled. Especially, when I go out of my way to tip +15-25$ after every service!
