We highly recommend a stay at Surfside! We've stayed in both A and B units and recommend both…read moretypes. The views of Lake Superior are exactly what you come to the North Shore for, and with their expansive waterfront you are able to really take in the views & experience staying on the lake - no matter which building or unit you're in. The common spaces offer a large pool (deepest end is 4'), a large hot tub, sauna, gym, laundry, and sometimes group fitness that varied on the weekly schedule (COVID safe). When you check-in be sure to visit with guest services regarding the events they have scheduled for the week & what you can take in for free. They'll also be able to assist with bike rentals, etc. Be sure to let them know what you're interested in because they're more than willing to help. Also, don't skip the free s'mores packs for the nightly campfires! Guest services hours are very accommodating. The A unit we stayed in on our recent trip was impeccably clean, and even though it was a "pet friendly" unit you wouldn't be the wiser. The cleaning staff does a great job. The linens were all good quality - including great quality towels! The views are outstanding from both the first and second floors, and the unit furnishings allow for comfortable lounging to take it all in. We did some cooking while at Surfside and the kitchen was fully outfitted with all standard cooking utensils, pots, pans, dish ware, and drink ware. They provide dish soap, kitchen towels, and dishwasher tabs so cleanup is a breeze. The beds were super comfortable, too! The whole unit is quite spacious and would be comfortable with 6 adults, and if you combined it with a B unit you could be comfortable with 8 adults. The living spaces are outfit with great, comfortable furniture, but in the colder months I recommend bringing a throw blanket or two so it can be even more cozy! We really love Surfside and their attention to the guest experience. It's a quaint, peaceful resort stay that offers some nice perks: nightly bonfires that were never crowded, a playground for kiddos, an ice skating rink in the winter months, and so much more. We'll certainly be back!

The accommodation is great. Wonderful townhouses Lot of decks. Comfortable beds. Good showers…read more Very deluxe accommodations. They do have activities such as biking, hiking, kayaking which are included. Not a ton of dining options and not a lot of groceries in the area so you may want to bring your groceries with you, but all your pans, plates, and utensils are included. The view can't be beat. No beach nor real access to the water but if you are in the area I would not hesitate to stay here. We had six very comfortable in a three bedroom. Great space to hang out in. Grille and firepits also available.

    Big Moose Home Inspections

We were referred to Big Moose by our realtor, Jeff Chilman of Whitetail Properties & we couldn't be…read morehappier with them! I believe Mark Stopjik was the inspector (that's the name on the report). We weren't there for the inspection as this is a vacation property we're purchasing that's close to 3 hours away & wanted only the well & septic inspected prior to finalizing the property purchase. The entire communication process was extremely efficient, as well as everything Mark covered, which I was VERY pleased with. Mark spent close to 30 minutes on the phone with me when I called him to get the details of the inspection & everything he listed in his report proved to be 100% accurate in his findings. As far as the report goes, I received it in less than TWO days after the inspection was finished & the report is very detailed, including numerous pictures & terminology I could understand. We've owned several properties over the past 13 years, two of which were vacation properties & every property we've utilized an inspection company, so I'm very aware of what to expect as well as what I expect from the inspection company. Big Moose not only met my expectations, they exceeded them, much to my delight. I'd contact them again for any future real estate endeavours that need an inspection.

DO NOT HIRE! I hired Big Moose to perform a competent and diligent home inspection before…read morecompleting the purchase of the property. The purpose of the inspection was to identify material defects, safety concerns, and conditions requiring repair or replacement so that I could make an informed decision regarding the purchase and negotiate appropriately before closing on my house sale. Following the purchase, significant defects were discovered that were not properly identified or reported in your inspection that were present, observable, and readily accessible at the time of the inspection. A reasonably competent home inspector performing a reasonably diligent inspection would have identified and disclosed the defects noted below, including but not limited to: 1. Rotten and Defective Deck Investigation revealed significant deterioration of the deck boards and insufficient structural integrity of the sub-structure, requiring the replacement of the deck for safe use. 2. Improper Water Heater Installation A subsequent plumbing inspection determined that the water heater had been improperly installed. This condition was identified by a HVAC contractor providing an expert opinion of the condition of the furnace and readily noted the improper water heater installation. The plumber who replaced the unit definitively concluded that the improper installation was the cause of its malfunction, thereby necessitating its replacement to ensure essential water heater function for the residence. 3. Window Replacement Issues Expenses related to window replacement, including the necessary replacement of eight (8) windows due to extensive frame rot, were not disclosed or addressed in the inspection. So dangerous as well. See Video. 4. Exterior Wall Damage Significant rotting exists under the siding. A pest control technician discovered this when noting a bulge in the house corner and suspecting moisture damage. Upon deck removal, the entire house corner contained rotten wood, including 6 feet of the ledger board. The plywood sheathing in this area was completely rotted, and the insulation lay at the bottom. 5. Broken Water Spicket A broken water spigot immediately discharged water into the lower level upon activation, resulting in significant water damage requiring renovation of the basement. These defects have caused Karen Knusta to incur substantial expenses, including costs for deck replacement, water heater replacement, window replacement, plumbing inspection and repairs, exterior wall repairs and basement renovation. We are now in the middle of massive remodeling and paying out of pocket $30,000. All this happened because the inspector didn't do his job or maybe knew the owner and cut a deal to ignore all of the things wrong with the house. The owner does not want to help pay for anything and doesn't care about the impact this has on our life. DO NOT USE BIG MOOSE HOME INSPECTORS.
