Nothing but love for this towing company! I know tow guys and gals sometimes get a bad rap. I know…read moreof this company dealing with them at night through my work. I know they're professional and courteous when talking with them while I'm in work mode, but as a customer this was my first time.
Let's start my story off by letting you the reader know that I had this very impressive tire blow out right before the Tyler exit (91 FWY west). First instinct was to pull over and the car finally just DIED in the driveway between Shoe City and P.F. Chang's. I've never seen an SUV's tire shred like that before, just saying.
Now, after all that brou-haha the car wouldn't start. Had to have my daughter's bf, my other daughter, and one of the Galleria at Tyler Mall security guys push the dang SUV into the parking lot of P.F. Chang's just to get a jump.
Be patient please, I'm getting to the actual review. Just trying to set the stage so you can see where my mind was at...
Air pump at closest gas station was out of order. Yay. The closest tire place was most likely gonna charge and arm and a leg and the way this day was going, I wanted to tap out. I'm going in full body melt down.
I ended up pulling into the parking lot of the Post Office right off of Hole x Tyler . I called the first company I could think of. Gary answered, took my info, quoted a price, and told me to expect the driver within 20 minutes.
Gerardo, the coolest tow truck guy EVER called to let me know he was behind the building (which was on the other side of the block wall) He tells me that he will come around. Ok good, cause I was so distraught at this point.
Gerardo comes around, has me move the car to a parking space so that we both were not blocking traffic. As I couldn't understand the perfectly clear directions he was giving me, he kindly asks me to get out so he can straighten out the car in order for him to load onto the tow truck. Thank you Gerardo cause I was already a blithering idiot at this point. Gerardo loads the monster SUV like a piece of cake and we were off!
Inside the cab was nice and cool. If you know IE summers, then you know. Very clean inside the cab, very organized. Not at all dirty. Thankfully, the passenger (shotgun side!) seat was comfy as I can't sit longer than 10 minutes. Thank you to my bad back and 3 surgeries.
Gerardo was extremely courteous. He tells me a brief history of the company. 3rd generation running the operations. I believe he told me they have been around since 1907? That's impressive! Longevity, I tell ya! He also tells stories of what a tow truck driver has to deal with when the general public acts like fools that the local PD has to get involved. I'm familiar with the types of stories he tells me as I hear them all in the line of work I'm in. True stories do not shock me anymore.
Throughout our ride, he tells me how he used to work for a local citrus family owned business and he even pointed out how far the orange groves went. He even pointed out this citrus family business's office. More history! Love it love it love it!!
Arrive in front of my parents' house and Gerardo was very polite to my mother. He lowers the monster SUV back onto the pavement and makes a quick call to have his home office run the credit card for payment. He actually apologizes for the wait as the dispatcher he's speaking with has three other lines ringing.
5 Stars all around! Customer service was exemplary. The cost of the tow was way better than I expected.
Bauman's Towing, what will you do when it's time for Gerardo to retire? He's great! Don't lose him!
Lesson learned today: not all tow truck drivers are mean. They're just human like you and me. I lucked out today!
