But as the restaurant has gained in popularity, service during peak hours can get iffy. Our server this morning was friendly but she and almost every other employee looked slammed. We didn't mind waiting for our food but it definitely took longer this morning. It may have been the perfect morning weather colliding with a long weekend, but we had to flag someone down for syrup and butter for the pancakes. Despite a less than amazing experience, we still love Buttermilk.

I chose to eat at the bar and that was a good choice. The bartender was very professional and friendly. I ordered an omelette, small grapefruit juice and a cup of coffee. The coffee and the juice were brought quickly. Unfortunately, the coffee was terrible. My breakfast arrived not too long after. The Omelette was a monster! Huge! Not too dry, tasty, loaded with stuff. The English muffin and mixed berry jelly were perfect. The potatoes next to the Omelette were delicious and not greasy at all. This was definitely a very expensive breakfast, But I was in a reasonably expensive dining district, so maybe that was to be expected.

The pastry cabinets are filled with all types of yummy goodness. But wait, what if I want breakfast and I am gluten free. According to the menu, they have a gluten free toast. That being said, I highly suspect contamination is a challenge in here. I sat down and was promptly met with what I believe was the owner. She helped clarify some questions I had like is the Swiss cheese on the Paris Special, American Swiss or Emmental since Swiss cheese is only an American thing. It is American Swiss for those asking. When in Rome I guess. The Paris Special is diced ham, eggs, and Swiss cheese on a croissant. I also ordered the diced potatoes with onion. The sandwich was good. Eggs were cooked perfectly, ham was diced out of a bag by the texture of it... it was fine. The croissant was very buttery, but I felt it was so buttery, it lost some exterior texture a fresh croissant may have. The potatoes were very tasty, but were dripping in oil on the plate. One thing that seemed to surprise me was me was the unsweetened iced tea. I felt it had black currant in it. That was lovely! Overall, this place is good. The price was not so great. But it is definitely cheaper than a trip to Paris.

From the outside of the building you can't really tell what is inside. The windows are all darkened and the entrance is set off from the dining side. But once inside, I weaved through the maze of tables to get to a booth on the other side. This was the quintessential family diner. Not fancy by any means, just an atmosphere where having a conversation with another table (which I did) is not unusual or extraordinary. The food was hot. The ham and cheese omelette was nothing special, it was a rolled omelette which I appreciate. The hash browns were fresh. When I say fresh, I suspect they actually shredded the potatoes that morning. They didn't have that frozen from a bag flavor. The one thing I wish they did, was shrink the menu. Choice fatigue made me choose my own standby this time. This menu is huge, I'd say it gives Cheesecake Factory a run for the money with menu size. Overall though, this is a place that you could easily make "your place" for local food spots.

I'm not sure why this keeps happening. Mauri's is a family-owned, family-friendly restaurant that serves tasty breakfast/ lunch fare. They have omelets, skillets, pancakes, waffles, Mexican breakfast dishes, sandwiches, and more. Mauri's is a community staple and popular among the locals. They have a nice variety on their menu, and the pricing is reasonable. The restaurant is inviting and has a good ambiance. In the past, I had tried a couple of different varieties of their omelets, which were good, especially the Acapulco omelet and Azucena omelet. On my recent visit, I ordered their Country Chicken Skillet that had chicken, chorizo, onions, mushrooms, and green peppers mixed in with hash browns and topped with cheddar cheese and two eggs cooked your way. I also asked for tomatoes in my skillet, which was a $1 upcharge. My wife ordered the Western skillet that had ham, onions, tomatoes, and peppers mixed in with hash browns and topped with cheese and two eggs. We had a choice of toast or pancakes, and we both got pancakes. Mauri's offers a choice of regular pancakes or pumpkin pancakes (no upcharge), and we chose pumpkin pancakes. For my little guy, we ordered a kids' meal that had one egg scrambled, hash brown, sausage, and wheat toast with a side of butter and jam. We also ordered a Belgian waffle with cinnamon apples and pecans. Additionally, I had a hazelnut iced coffee, and my wife had an iced caramel cappuccino. Overall, the food and beverages were good in taste. We like our dishes. Initially, in my skillet dish, the hash browns were burnt, and the pumpkin pancakes were a bit overcooked. Thus, I requested my dish to be redone. One of the staff members promptly provided the desired response and service, and my new order was ready shortly. After re-cooking, my dish tasted delicious. It was exactly as I wanted it to be. I didn't ask for a redo in the pancakes. They were okay. I also like the Belgian Waffle a lot. The pecans were stuffed in the waffle, which was great, and there were plenty of semi-big pieces of cinnamon apples on the top. My hazelnut iced coffee was refreshingly delicious. I liked the use of flavored ice in my drink. We received good, friendly service (same as in the past). We like coming here occasionally and supporting the local business. Mauri's is a good place to get delicious breakfast/ lunch meal. It's definitely worth checking out if you haven't been here before.

There were tables open in many sections, but we were seated in a high traffic area near the host stand. This was not very comfortable for our group. Our food was just ok for the most part. The best dish that was served in terms of taste and quality was a chicken salad. The ingredients at least seemed fresh. Our other dishes were bland - biscuits and gravy and a chicken avocado wrap. Both were lacking any distinctive flavor. We requested tomato soup with the chicken wrap, but it was served lukewarm, with a cold spot in the center. We mentioned this to the server as our meals were served, as the soup was an upcharge to the salad that normally accompanies the wrap. We received an apology, but no other accommodation was made. Cleanliness was an issue. The rest rooms are near the open entrance to the kitchen. One of our family members has mobility issues, and there were traces of dropped food, puddles of water, etc. leading to and from the kitchen, in the path of the public restrooms. It was dangerous in terms of a slipping hazard to cross over that pathway to use the rest rooms. There were several seniors there that morning, with walkers and canes. The pathway should be cleaned more frequently to prevent falls. Honestly, there are better breakfast/lunch places in this area and for the same value. We had a pretty mediocre experience during our visit.
