Let's start with the omelette... this delightfully fluffy egg, ham and cheese assembly was so light I thought it would float off of the plate. The diced potatoes were crispy and flavorful... somehow. I didn't see anything special on it, but much like the omelette magic, I think they did a magic spell over it. The biscuit and gravy could have been better. I honestly have high standards for that and I am sure the biscuits weren't fresh, and the gravy didn't seem to have any sausage or sausage oils in it. But for a basic gravy, it is perfectly fine. The service is fantastic, attentive, and with their interactions with more complicating customers, extremely professional. Then there is the ambiance, the woods throughout, the greenery here and there, and the small, intimate interior makes it feel like you are in a sunroom / garden room in somebody's house. Very cute place near where I'll be living soon. I was looking for a place that sold good breakfast burritos and I think I might have found one! My review is based on just the one visit I had but I'm 100% positive I'll be back to try other things with the family. The "south of the border" burrito was what satisfied the craving I had for a long time. It was surprisingly difficult to find places that sold decent breakfast burritos anywhere I went, so I was excited to find this on their menu. It abaolutely hit the spot for me. Chorizzo for protein, eggs cooked nice and fluffy, diced hot peppers for a bit of a kick, and for a final touch, the outside of tortilla was slightly press grilled for a crunch. Two of us had a full breakfast with enough leftovers for another meal for under $24. The staff here must be treated well because they're always cheerful and attentive in a very sincere way. Once we got seated, I got a coffee and my husband orange juice. I ordered the Incredible Hulk Omelet which came with 2 sides. The additional side I ordered were the fruits and pancakes. Food came out pretty quick. I definitely enjoyed the omelet and shared my fruits and pancakes with my toddler and baby. Used to LOVE this place, but the attitudes of the employees the last few times has been very "Meh"! Most servers & hostesses seem to have a negative attitude & almost act as though they're doing YOU a favor. The food isn't consistently great anymore either--diced breakfast potatoes are typically hard --like they haven't been cooked enough--& asking for bacon to be extra crispy means the bacon shouldn't be "wiggly" when it comes out. Their gravy was soooo good. I had biscuits & Gravy with eggs and bacon aptly named the Mama Sampler, and he had the Chicken Fried Steak that came smothered in gravy with eggs, fruit, and toast. The steak was so tender that he didn't even need a knife. And the eggs were all expertly cooked - a perfect over medium. We went early on a weekday before heading to the airport, so it was not busy at all. The staff was pleasant and attentive. Our food came out quickly and everything was hot hot hot. Our waitress kept our coffee full and hot, too! The parking lot is ample and easy to find right off 45. The bathrooms are kept clean. This really is a lovely spot. We recently did brunch pick-up from here. We ordered and paid over the phone and did curbside pick-up. I ordered a type of Eggs Benedicts, a Steak Panini, and Banana bread French Toast. It was a quick and easy process. Our food was ready in the time we were told it would be ready. There was a difference between their menu online on their website versus what actually is the current menu. The online is not updated. Point in case, with the panini, you can only get one choice of a side. But the way the online menu has it written, you get two items. Anyway, the food was really delicious. The portion sizes were big. You definitely get a bang for your buck. I had the steak panini and I really liked it. It was exactly what I was looking to have. It cooked to my liking. My wife liked her eggs benedict dish. I forget what kind she ordered. I think it was the chorizo kind but I can't remember right now. We both got fruits instead of fries as a side. And as sweet dish for our brunch, we opted for their french toast instead of pancakes which we normally get. This banana bread french toast was da bomb. It was just the sweet dish we were looking for. With the sliced bananas and big pecan pieces, it was the icing on the cake. We were totally satisfied with our meal. Definitely check this place out. Easy to find and depending on what time you get here will determine how easy it is to find parking. We arrived and had a booth within two minutes. One thing we noticed straight away was in regards to the building itself. Both the outside and inside could definitely use a good cleaning and updating. It's usually never a good sign when you see various things are in disrepair, broken or mangled. Service was prompt and good throughout our visit. For me, two stars means I won't actively campaign against a place, but if asked my opinion, it will be to stay away. Garden Berry Cafe is a place with potential, but not much more. It is in desperate need of a deep cleaning, a face lift, and a menu overhaul. For the deep cleaning: When you walk in, you are hit with a smell that can only be described as a combination of stale grease and mildew. They need to shut down for a day, drain everything, and scrub every inch of the restaurant and all appliances until it is back to a base level of decency. For the face lift: The exterior looks like it was caught in a time warp from 30 years ago. Meanwhile, the interior is a depressing mix of browns. They have some nice, fun coffee artwork on the walls, which could be incorporated into a new look, but they really need a massive redesign. For the menu overhaul: It is kind of a universal truth that any restaurant with over 100 items on their menu will not do any of them very well, while any restaurant with fewer than 20 items on their menu will usually be amazing at nearly all of them. My chilaquiles verdes with chorizo were one-dimensional. Instead of the tortilla chips at the base of the dish bringing a nice crunch, they were soggy from being doused with juices from the chorizo and salsa verde. Everything melded into one texture and flavor that was... meh. My wife's avocado benedict suffered the same fate of one-dimensional boringness. Instead of having a crispy and chewy English muffin with a tangy hollandaise, everything tasted the same. The servers were kind and prompt, and did a good job. Overall, that was the only high point of this visit. Back to the drawing board, Garden Berry. read more
