"Surf's up, dude!" I don't know how to say that in Catalan, but that would likely be the appropriate greeting, especially when the long-haired gregarious owner's name is Tarzan. Seriously. A London-based friend recommended this beachy La Barceloneta spot to Jamie W. and me. It's just off the promenade next to the beach. The menu consisted of familiar T.G.I.Friday's-style eats. The eats seemed like the ideal match for the umbrella-covered outdoor cafe. We must've been in a poultry mood because we shared two chicken items. First up was the satisfying 13€ 'Chickens' Sandwich, where in a rustic Catalan bread roll, they stuffed chicken breast marinated in herbes de Provence, sun-dried tomatoes, chopped egg, and arugula (photo: https://yelp.to/XQyWywmMXD). We followed up the sandwich with the 9€ Crispy Chicken Fingers made with panko, corn flakes, and various spices. Vegan poke bowl was VERY good. I wish I could go back!! We ate outside, the place was small with a short line for tables. The service is also not the fastest but the food was great. You are paying for the location, but it's not as bad as some of the other spots on the street by any means. Close to public transit too. They did have bathrooms inside we could use. read more

Not really a 3 Star rating but also not a 4, they have both indoor & outdoor seating and we chose inside because there wasn't a wait. Semi "Surfer Dude" atmosphere with mostly young clientele, complete with fairly loud techno music playing, it was a fun change of pace for lunch - and the food was pretty good! The good: Wow the food is amazing. Got the beef nachitos which were delicious and the Norwegian poke bowl (salmon) was also just as amazon. Nachos were so good we took what we didn't finish home, came back a few days later ordered them again and again took the rest home for dinner. The bad: The service. It's not bad it's just very unconventional from what an American is used to. They will let you sit as long as you want & there is no rush to turn your table even when they're is a line for tables. That is great as long as you are not in a rush. Every time you want to speak to a waiter you have to flag them down. Unlike in America they don't perceive this as rude, in fact they encourage this. The third time we went there during our Barcelona stay the waiter told us to flag him down when we were ready. This is only bad your first time, and as long as you know what to expect- you will have a much better experience. Overall: Delicious food, albeit a slow meal. Worth going to multiple times. Must order the beef nachitos. Also worth trying the poke bowl, the steak tataki, and the avocado toast. read more

I am usually very very skeptical about places located in very touristy areas. La Barceloneta's water front is for sure one of the most touristy places in Barcelona. However, we were strolling around the beach and found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Food was good, I had some pretty good BBQ ribs and Ana had a Chicken sandwich that she loved. Best of all was their warm Waffle (which by the way be advised that is Belgian-style waffle, not American) with Vanilla ice cream, that was really delicious. I wouldn't say it was mind blowing but the food was good, the prices are acceptable for the location and the service was very attentive. I give it a solid 4 stars for offering a good choice in a place filled with tourist traps. Recommended. read more

Really delicious food and cocktails, but terrible table service (even by European standards). At around 7:30pm we tried to order nachos, and were told that we had to wait until 8pm. Meanwhile, a couple literally right next to us (who had a different server), received and enjoyed nachos while we were trying to order ours. When we tried to order again at 8pm, our waitress had disappeared for about 20 minutes (turned out her shift ended and she just didn't tell anyone). By the time we were able to get someone to take over our table, they told us we couldn't order because a large party was arriving in about 30 minutes. It's perfect for walking up from the beach on a hot day (which we did). The pitchers of cava sangria are a bit on the small side. I ordered the arugula grilled chicken salad and it was a bit drenched in soy sauce (the vinaigrette was supposed to be a mix of sesame, soy and lime). Tried to come here twice and because their hours are so weird they either were only carrying a handful of items or they were out of all of their recommended dishes. We ended up getting nachos, their burger (not the one with egg like we hoped), and a burrito. The burrito was hard to eat, the burger was average at best, but the saving grace was the nachos. I have found this to be one of my favorite places to eat in Barcelona. The food is delicious and healthy, the drinks are good, and the patio is great with its beachy theme and view of the ocean. So far I have had the tuna poke, açaí bowl, and the veggie sandwich (all great). The only two downsides I have is that the drinks are too expensive and the wait staff is not attentive at all. Both times I have dined there on the patio I have had to wait at least 15 minutes to try and wave down a server, and even though they saw me they didn't come by. I even saw the woman at the table next to me finally wave down the server and ask for a coffee- he responded by staring at her and smiling and shaking his head no. Pretty weird, but still an awesome little restaurant. I will be taking friends there in the near future. read more

I'm bummed to write this review but it needs to happen. We were told about this place and walked down so excited to try their nachos. We stood in line for about 20 min and got seated. Once we were seated no staff came up to us (or the people next to us). We watched people get seated after us get served drinks and food. Very nice atmosphere outside at the beachpromenade of barcelonetta, a beautiful place to go out for a casual lunch or dinner or to take a drink in their lounge. The staff is very friendly and helpful even though not everyone speaks English. They have a great drinkcard with very special and creative coctails from all over the world.
