I stopped by surf shack and I was not o hungry, so I decided to go with a salad, which I expected to be on the smaller size but I was surprised by the huge serving received. It was loaded with fried chicken, bacon and a ton of croutons. It was good but I was not able to finish it. The location offers free water on the self serving station and you can order and customize your meal at the counter. Service was courteous and the food came out fast. a good "build your own" burger spot in malmö! i like how surf shack allows you to customize your burger and they have more unique toppings than the usual burger spot. you can choose 3 sauces, 8 vegetables, and other premium toppings and sides. i got the hamburger with: - mini hamburger - sauces: roasted aoli, chipotle mayo - cheddar cheese - vegetables: crisp salad, grilled onions, pickled onions, tomato, and grilled onions. the "mini hamburger" is slightly smaller than a normal burger but was enough for me, or someone if you order fries. if you are hungry though, maybe get the larger patty. they give a small amount of each topping so the burger is not overflowing, which also adds a nice balance for taste. i also thought the taste of the beef patty was actually really good, much better than max or b*st*rd burgers in town. i would come back to try their fish or their burgers during their lunch special! read more

Two words: Garlic Fries!!! I've been here once, and I will go back! I had: Burger with added pineapple and cheddar, garlic fries. Taste: Great! Especially the garlic fries, but the burger was nicely made and had a nice flavour to it. Concept: Spot on! Malmö needs this gem, and everything from the menu to the interior is just, well, spot on. Service: Great. We went there early for lunch before the massive crowd got there, and the staff was very helpful. It's a great concept, as said before, but it's a lot to get a hang of before ordering, and one of the older men working there talked us through the whole thing, even if we were 6 people. What brings it from 5 stars to 4 is that it's a small place, and it gets crowded FAST. You need to be there well before 12 for lunch, and it's kind of loud when it's filled. If you're into burgers (even if you're vegetarian or gluten intolerant) this is a must do in malmö. The service is very quick AND the food is very good. You can decide whatever you want in your burger (a lot of the ingredients are included in the price). The mini burger is actually pretty big (so I would recommend this one). The only difference with the regular one is that you only have one meat instead of two. But this restaurant is maybe a little victim of its success because it's really crowded. So don't go there if you're looking for intimacy in a quiet restaurant ;) read more

Great little American lunch spot in Malmo. The staff was very friendly when we walked in and gave us a menu in English after we struggled reading the one in front of us. At this location you can build your own burger (chicken, beef, etc.) with toppings from a long list to cater to your craving. I got a chicken burger with BBQ sauce, American cheese, onion, tomato, lettuce, and pineapple - it also came with Mayo on it, so be careful to say no Mayo if you don't like it! Upon walking into this place, you feel as if you could be at a a very hip burger shack in Florida or California. The decor brings an airy, beachy feel that transports you from Malmö for a moment. They have a good system set up where you order at the counter and pay, receive a buzzer that will notify when your food is ready and then you can grab a seat. The staff there is friendly and works fast. Between our table we tried the cranberry salad (super fresh, many flavors, highly enjoyable), the chicken fingers (handmade, quality meat with a great crunchy breading an a variety of yummy dipping sauces) and a surf burger with garlic fries (the burger was cooked to perfection and the fries were melt in your mouth good). Recently moved to Malmo and decided I needed a burger. With 5 Guys and Shake Shack nowhere in sight, we found Surf Shack. 2 adults and a kid that eats like an adult, we ordered and got our food quickly which made me a little suspicious but it was actually ok. My burger was over cooked and there seemed to be more toppings than meat but I sampled the others' and it was pretty good. We also got a boozy milkshake, my boyfriend has never had one (WTF is going on in France?) which wasn't bad. I'd recommend the chicken burger and regular fries, the garlic ones are meh compared to what I've had in other places... which is weird because it's just garlic & fries, but it is what it is. All in all it was a nice place. Didn't have to wait too long for a seat on a Saturday afternoon. Once I get used to the price of eating out in Swede I think I will return. read more

There's no glamorous lit menu like burger king, but rather a rustic coziness which I found appealing. Pity there weren't enough seats indoors, else I'd have rated 5 stars for a burger joint. Went in to surf shack while visiting Malmö and it was an overall very good experience. I got the surf burger and it was absolutely huge! I'd say the smaller choice would have been sufficient. The flavor was great and I have no negatives to say about the food. The burgers came out quickly too. I got the garlic fries, which were good, but I would get the regular fries in the future. Ahh, what can I say? I don't usually go to a burger joint in the US, but I had to check this place out for the namesake! I took a train from CPH to Malmo and saw that this place was very close to the train station, so I had to make my way there. It was easy to spot as there were two surfboards with menus outside of the door. I walked in, and an older gentleman was chatting with his staff. They looked like they just opened. I ordered their 'Cowgirl Salad with Miso Vinaigrette.' Unlike what the name suggests, there is NO meat. (I'm pescatarian) Again, the portion was huge, and it was SO yummy with the mix of different greens, feta cheese, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, black beans. I sat in front of a TV which a surf movie was playing featuring the usual crew, (Rob Machado, Kelly Slater, Malloy brothers, and more) It showed Cardiff-by-the-Sea in N. County San Diego where I used to live so it was a treat, yet very strange watching this in Malmo, Sweden! read more
