My son and I did a 1.5 hour sess with an instructor. The owner was amazing, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our instructor, Nico, did a fantastic job. He helped us catch waves and progress throughout the lesson. He answered all my questions about gear and surfing. We caught plenty of waves and had fun. I had my first private surf lesson yesterday with this amazing and warm welcoming team. My instructor for the hour was a young man named Brendan and he was absolutely amazing! He was very encouraging, positive and supportive. He worked with me at my comfort zone and pushed me out of my comfort zone little by little. Kyla and Brendan cheered me on each and every time- fail or success. After my lesson, I ran into an old Highschool friend I haven't seen in almost ten years and told her how amazing the coaches were and she went right over to get a lesson for herself (I don't think she was planning on it that day) but she too had a beautiful experience! Set up a group lesson for 6, 3 adults and 3 kids (7,8,9 yo). Putting on the wetsuit was a comical experience. Hahaha. We had a short lesson on the sand of how to get up on our boards and then out in the water. They have a 3:1 teacher to student ratio which was awesome. The kids went with one of the guys and we got the other. They were out in the water with us, encouraging us, helping us get a push start and directing the front of our boards. The kids had a BLAST and all of them were able to at least try to stand on their boards. My older son was the only one that lasted the full two hours. He probably would have gone all day if they let him. Logistics: they let you keep your belongings in their kiosk which is locked or manned the whole time. Bring a waterproof camera/ GoPro if you have one. I'm sure we would have gotten great footage! I would definitely recommend this group for anyone looking for a beginner surf lesson here. It was expensive but well worth the money. In fact I felt like they deserved more tip than I left initially. I was initially put off when they asked for a tip when I signed up for the lessons online but They deserve every penny of a generous tip. Great teachers and great experience! read more

Took my 2 boys for their 1st surf lesson at Surfin Fire yesterday 6/21/2019. What a great experience! Staff was knowledgeable and very accommodating for our tight schedule. We did 2x private 2 hour sessions. My 11 year old was nervous about it and wasn't sure if he would be able to stand up. The 2 instructors were very professional and patient. Both of the boys caught alot of waves and had a blast! After the lesson was over my 11 year old said "That was so fun! Can we come again tomorrow?" Absolutely amazing. We booked online a few days ago for our lesson yesterday. And we were so excited. We arrived to the beach and killed some time by enjoying the atmosphere. We finally started our lesson. We started out on the sand learning how to stand up properly on the board. Then we ventured into the water. They brought us out to a comfortable distance and when a wave would come they would turn us around and give a push. Which was very helpful! They would also help you get back out if you and your board headed toward shore. I'm so glad we did the lesson. It was so much fun and I will be recommending them to everyone I know!! read more

These guys are great! I tried 10 years ago to surf but couldn't get up no matter how hard I tried. Now I'm 54 years old weaker, fatter, and slower, yet these guys got me up the first try. My husband and I vacationed in Oceanside and our concierge told us about this place for surf lessons. They were very accommodating. We were able to book the lesson for the following morning with no problems. On our first lesson we were at the Oceanside pier. The instructor was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately Oceanside pier was not the best choice for beginner surfers at this time. There was a company dredging right next to where we were surfing and there were so many rocks. We both had many cuts from the rocks. We told them that we wanted to surf the following day and they suggested we go to their location at ponto beach (it was about a 20 min drive so it wasn't far). We scheduled our next lesson for ponto beach. This beach was so much better for us! There weren't any rocks at all. The crew at this location was just as amazing as the first one. The only negative thing I have to say is that I received a text that sent me to the link of how to get to them and it was the ponto beach location but we had been scheduled at Oceanside. Any smart person would've immediately noticed the issue I'm sure, but being that we were not from there we thought maybe we had to go to their office for them to teach us how to ride and then go surf. With that being said, we called and let them know what was happening and they said it wasn't a problem and they would fix the text message thing. We arrived late to our lesson but they still allowed us to go the full hour and a half. I would use these guys again and refer them. read more
