My adult son and I did the 1.5 hour semi-private learn to surf. It included the wetsuit, long foam board and instruction. The instructor (Babsy?) was attentive and provided the right cues when we needed them. We tried with a YouTube video and some loaner boards on our own the day before -- but this experience was night and day different. Had a wonderful experience by taking a series of lessons with this surf school. My child's instructor did a quick dry land lesson that gave my son the knowledge and confidence to stand up on the board in the ocean. He was soon riding wave after wave with joy and confidence. My experience with Surfin fire - especially Kyla and her sister was amazing! So when I tell you I was SO NERVOUS to take a surf lesson - I've been living in California for 1.5 years now watching the surfers but honestly afraid to get in the water...I had a weird experience/lesson my first time out in Oregon and it made me not want to try again.. what type of wetsuit do I get? What kind of board? Will I be able to do it? I'm on the heavier / curvier side...I don't see too many surfers who look like me and my "pop up" isn't great even after practicing on land for a few months...it didn't matter. These girls are great! Their instruction is so helpful, they make sure you have on the property wetsuit that actually fits you but where you can still move on the board and in the water, they gave me a wider SUP board for better balance since it was my first time and it made such a difference! All the instructors in the lesson were extremely nice and encouraging, they all gave great feedback and answered any questions I had. It was such a relief and a breath of fresh air. Today really gave me so much confidence...I still can't believe I ACTUALLY surfed! I never would have tried it if Kyla hadn't reached out on FB and been so nice! I had got a surf lesson for my fiance since she has been wanting one, and oceanside is a great place to do so. He was very personable with us and knowledgable about surfing. He took time taught her very well, and got her up within a couple waves. About an hour later she was trying to get into bigger waves by herself. I had my first private surf lesson yesterday with this amazing and warm welcoming team. My instructor for the hour was a young man named Brendan and he was absolutely amazing! He was very encouraging, positive and supportive. He worked with me at my comfort zone and pushed me out of my comfort zone little by little.
