It is truly hard to put into words how amazing my experience with Oceanside Surf School has been! My family visited Oceanside for a family vacation, and my dad, sisters, and myself signed up to take lessons. Keep in mind that we were all beginners. From our very first lesson, we were hooked! Matt has a love and passion for surfing and the ocean that is contagious. He has such a great and experienced understanding and shares that through his teaching. We had the best time with Matt and his team! They are all incredible teachers! We took lessons daily for the week and saw continuous growth and confidence in our surfing, and this is due to the phenomenal one-on-one teaching that they provide. Matt and his team were able to cater their instruction to what we as individuals needed and were working on. We left every lesson feeling encouraged and excited for the lesson to come! Reflecting back on our trip, my family and I unanimously agreed that this was one of the best trips we have ever taken, and it is truly due to Oceanside Surf School. The memories that we made during our lessons will always be special. We have already planned our next trip back to continue taking surf lessons with Oceanside Surf School! Hi all, Oceanside Surf School provided me my first surfing experience and I could not be more pleased! I highly recommend Oceanside Surf School. I found Oceanside Surf School as it was located outside my vacation condo, Southern California Beach Club the week of June 2, 2019. After speaking with Matthew during the week we set up a surf lesson. I was impressed with Matthews positive energy and genuine interest in teaching me to surf. The lesson consisted of more than just lying on the board, paddling and standing up. I learned about surf board safety, the wave types, tide strength and times, and parts of the ocean influencing the surf and why the ocean had a red tint that day. Matthew also encouraged me to send positive energy into the ocean, stretch and set a positive mind goal for the day. In the water Matthew quickly encouraged me to ride a wave, he gave me constructive criticism after my many fails and provided much needed positive energy all lesson. By the end of the lesson I felt like Matthew and I became friends. As we walked out of the water he greeted my family, spoke kindly of my children and thanked me for the fun lesson. Matt is a great teacher! He cares so much about people and has much knowledge to share on surfing and how to move with the ocean and yourself. A very experienced, kindhearted and openminded individual who just wants to help. He is a well of knowledge and will support you in starting this journey or deepening your already formed skills! I just took a surf lesson at Oceanside surf school and I had a blast learning something that is been on my bucket list for a long time. There were a few different instructors but mine was Matthew and I had a ton of fun riding waves! The instructions were crystal-clear and I was given the fundamentals on how to pop up on time and the basic understanding on how to surf. I am planning on going back for part 2 of the lesson so I can continue to improve. He is also a really cool and genuine dude. I would highly recommend!!! read more

Matt helped me accomplish my dream of riding a wave! I am 290 lbs and not in the best shape but Matt was able to help me find the strength to push myself up and ride!
